"To battle! We will drive the rebels from our country and make it strong again!" The gathered noblemen 'hurrah' in unison.

Congratulations! Houlandin III has embarked onto a Civil War!

It's the same as Military Campaign, so you know the drill by now. If he losses, however, Lady Eiri becomes the Queen with full rights.

As your army, after three days' march east, camps for the night, the agents bring forth some information.

"Sire, the rebels have control over several fortified and populous cities in the east, so this will be a long and bloody conflict with lots of casualties*, I'm afraid. They have little amount of wealth, it seems*, so our economy shouldn't suffer too much. Unfortunately the governor of Augas decided to sit sight as apparently there have been some incidents with Parsians since your rejection of the marriage proposal." He sighs.

"Unfortunately, my informants have determined that the noblemen have gathered lots of support from military types and control about the same amount of forces you do*, so I advise you that you try to minimize your losses or you might suffer defeat." You thank him for the report.

Two days later, as you're crossing some hilly terrain, your scouts report an advancing army from the east! It's comprised of spearmen, archers and flanked by small units of cavalry. Standard deployment, really. It's about one-third the size of your forces.

A) Take a defensive position here and wait for the enemy!
B) March forward and smash the inferior force to dust!

You reply in a letter that you do not wish to mingle with your cousin.

842 AD, Summer

The historian sent with miners northwest has sent a letter in which he announces discovery of gold! The more mining-oriented people believe that the veins can run for quite some distance and be very profitable.

842 AD, Midsummer

"My liege! Disaster!!" A young courtier brings you a letter.

A coalition of nobles from north and east of the country have declared their intent to remove you, Houlandin III, from the throne of Luathbas, and install Lady Eiri as their new Queen. Reasons they cite is your unwillingness to strengthen family lines, refusal of numerous marriage proposals that could ensure prolonging of the dynasty and prosperity for Luathbas, squandering of wealth of the Treasury, and being influenced by the 'elven witch' that clouds your mind and judgement.

The courtiers present at your castle all swear loyalty to you.

"Our beloved King!" Says one. "Signal the horns, rouse the peasants, call upon honor of your knights! Lead us and we will squash the wretched rebels at once!"

"My son isn't going anywhere to war!" Queen Mother Aolineniya protests, standing up. "His grandfather got himself stupidly killed, his father did too! Do I have to lose my own son as well on the bloody fields?"

"Mother, I was made to fight! I studied field tactics, I excel at sword-fighting! Am I now to rot in the throne room?" You counter-protest and the nobles in the room murmur and nod in approval.

"Yes! Lead us to battle, my liege!"

"No! Ethelwulf, dear, stay in the capital! Your soldiers can fight your wars for you!"

A) Embark with your soldiers to deal a swift defeat to the traitors to Luathbas!!
B) Stay in the capital for protection and let armies fight on their own.

11796
Come on you would be only sticking to family tradition :P

11797
You agree to fund his mining operations with the help of Treasury.

841 AD, End of the Year

The advisor, for the first time during your reign, brings you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Happiness: 3
Population: 7
Economy: 4

842 AD, Spring

Your aunt Eiri have written you a letter. She writes that amongst her children there is one named Sela, quite smart and pretty, and sixteen years old, and is therefore wondering if, to preserve the family lines, you would be interested in having her as your wife and Queen.

A) Accept.
B) Reject.

People are again tying up votes, so I will go with Tiruin's because I feel like it.

You postpone the meeting and then go prepare another glorious rousing imperial speech in which you urge the citizens of Erasure to calm down.

Quote

It goes swimmingly and most protesters disperse and return home.

You then ask the Ministry of Internal Security to screen various prominent dissidents and republicans who might have something to do with those recent rioting.

777.131

Just ten days later you receive a message via Sirtana.

"Ministry of Internal Security reports that it had concluded its preeliminary investigations and dissident republican supporters were amongst those who started the riot on Erasure and Watahhere. Head of the Ministry is asking if they're to move in or just keep watch on them."

A) Let the MIS move in to arrest and imprison the dissidents responsible!
B) Have them continue with investigations and also start surveillance of the related Imperial citizens.

11799
I was fixing typos with that edit and adding some extra fluff bits plus the Trait mention as the original didn't have the trait listed or the rolls responsible for it v:

Reject was first option from the beginning, and I assume people memory-muscle'd A because I seem to often write 'accept' as the first option available :v

You ask him to list his historical clues and evidences.

Quote
6

He then mentions the libraries he was at, temple archives he visited, and elderly governors he interviewed. Once he mentions Debe, a prominent historian of the last century, you have no doubts that the youth knows his stuff. Therefore, his findings must be true.

A) Reject his plans anyways.
B) Agree to fund his mining project.

11800
You tell the advisor to get foodstuffs from abroad and that some money is to be spend on foundation of new settlements to relieve the housing problems in the cities.

841, Winter

Quote

For another year the trade with Parsia fails to bring any special revenue, but the taxes form Augas make up for it.

841, Midwinter

A young historian arrives at your court.

"My liege, I have found scrolls that relate to the Muza hills in the northwest - apparently prospecting has been done in 698 AD and gold was found! I beseech you, good King, sponsor me and my efforts in tapping this mineral wealth!"

A) Fund his mining operations.
B) Reject as there are more important things to fund in the future.
C) Ask him to elaborate on his historical findings.

D, down with yaoi apprentice danger!

11802
You reject the offer. Ahab Hahalol storms off after giving you a glare.

Maybe you should think twice before saying something out loud next time.

841 AD, Summer

There is some rioting in the southwest! Apparently an amount of people there is suffering from overcrowding and lack of foodstuffs.

A) Forcibly re-settle part of the peoples to the more fertile northlands.
B) Kick out some peoples, especially the migrants who fled the Kiwi's prosecution in the past.
C) Buy foodstuffs from abroad and spend some coinage on foundation of new settlements.
D) Do nothing, overpopulation is natural course of things.

11803
After much debating, the Council have decided to install Ethelwulf as next King of Luathbas, with his mother, amongst other peoples, as regents.

841 AD

Quote

Your accept the crown officially from the hands of your mother. You do not look like her, and your 'elven' ears have barely any pointage to them. And you're, unlike your predecessors, very combative and excel in martial arts. But you are Ethelwulf, son of Houlandin II. To honor your father, and to show promise of future good rule, you therefore take on the name of Houlandin III!

The kingdom fared well during the Regency, its censuses growing long and the pockets of the peasants not empty. The mood was and remains sour, however.

The Southern Territories remain in the hands of Lametania, or, rather, Lametanian Province of the Great Damdamian Republic. Cult of Damed spreads in the south, and despite best efforts, some worshippers gained ground amongst the sheeples of your populace, which fortunately does not cause any trouble with the Hurthlings, which peacefully integrated into Luathbas structures after almost thirty years of having the support of the royal family.

The east and west both are peaceful, and despite some minor rebellions during the Regency of your mother, Queen Mother Aolineniya, the borders are secure.

841 AD, Spring

Ahab Hahalol have arrived at your castle's gates! The scary-looking Parsian, clothed in green tunic, black pants and golden shoes, stares at you.

"Houlandin III of Luathbas, be blessed! My King, Shashanshah, offer the hand of his daughter Miriam in marriage! May there be peace and cooperation between our peoples. Think of the offer wisely, because my King feels no desire to ever give you this chance again."

A) Reject!
B) Accept!

...We going with the D option.

The Council sent our more envoys to find Aolineniya.

Quote

And she comes to the castle less than a week later. The council shouts, grumbles, applauds and calls to install her and to ban her, before the advisor calls for ORDER.

"Why I was so hard to reach? Simples; I was merely avoiding you just to prolong your debacle and uncomfortable moment. And I had to try and raise my children without your influence of hatred and politicking."

"You don't even know how to raise human children properly!" Shouts Queen Mother Ciri, but the elven woman glares at her.

"Should I raise them like you did? Your children got themselves all killed!"

"HOW DARE YOU!?"

"Order!" The advisor had to slam the iron ball again. Aolineniya stands in the middle of the circle of humans.

"Now, I demand to be made Queen!" She shouts.

"No women on the throne!" Yells one of the noblemen, some nod and murmur in approval.

"Then we follow your own human laws and put Ethelwulf on the throne, after a short regency... by me." Some noblemen groan, and one stands up.

"That would be the same thing, for fuck's sake!" Then another stands!
"But do we have any other choice??" And then it gets worse.
"Make her a Queen!"
"Regency! Regency, then a young King!!"
"Down with the elfs, we have plenty of candidates!"
"Lady Eiri for the win!!"
"ORDEEER!"

Slam, slam, slam, went the iron ball.

The council, murmuring, whispering... plotting... had to reach a decision.

A) Change the traditional hereditary laws and install Lady Eiri, daughter of Houlandin, on the throne of Luathbas as Queen with full rights. Her children will then inherit.
B) Change the traditional hereditary laws and install Lady Benelisse, wife of Lech, on the throne of Luathbas as Queen with full rights. Her children will then inherit.
C) Change the traditional hereditary laws and install Idorina, daughter of Lech, on the throne of Luathbas, and establish regency of Queen Mother Benelisse (amongst others), till the girl reaches the age of fifteen.
D) Change the traditional hereditary laws and install Aolineniya on the throne of Luathbas as Queen with full rights. Her children will then inherit.
E) Install Ethelwulf, son of Houlandin II and Aolineniya, as next King of Luathbas, with regency of Queen Mother Aolineniya until he reaches age of fifteen.
