The game will continue until some sort of a disasterous course of action destroys the Houlandin Dynasty and/or Kingdom of Luathbas. As long as new King from the family ascends, we keep switchin' and playin' on.

You go with the plan for more festivals next year as well.

833 AD, Summer

On the first day of Summer, your dutiful wife gives birth to a child! It's a girl. She names her Idorina.

834 AD, Autumn

Some governors of the cities in the north have sent a letter to you. The Hurthlings, ever so unhappy and distrustful of Luathbas government after so many of them were slaughtered during the battles of 831, are now refusing to part with their foodstuffs per the usual taxation method agreed upon by Houlandin II (they sell foodstuffs to humans, they get money, money goes to the region's administration).

They ask you to rein them in; if you don't, they shall.

A) Send a letter to the governors in which you give them free hand in dealing with this situation.
B) Send a letter to Hurthlings in which you demand their obedience and orderly conduct.
C) Send a letter to the governors and Hurthlings in which you ask the two to find a better way to communicate.
D) Send a letter to the governors in which you demand they drop the taxation altogether from the Hurthlings.

Ethelwulf was too young to take the throne, and the nobles and Queen Mother did decide in the ascension fluff that Lech will take the throne instead v:

You inform them that your previous ruling stands, and they are to accept all fleeing Kiwis.

832 AD, Midwinter

The agreement with Parsians brought little revenue. At least Augas continues to fill the coffer well..

It took a while, but the mercenaries and hired vagabonds managed to form some units under Luathbas banner.

Also, the festivals sponsored by the Crown were quite welcomed by the weary and unhappy populace!

832 AD, End of the Year

Its that time of year when the advisor visits you with those scrolls of his.

Happiness: 3
Population: 5
Economy: 4
Army: 4

"There is some steady progress, my liege." The advisor sets the scrolls aside. "But it could do well to further appease the populace. Mayhaps we spend some more coins on festival and other such joyful celebrations, hmmm?"

A) "Sure, let's go with that."
B) "Nay! They had enough fun last year."

You offer to let her go and let her take the kids if she just explains herself.

"You usurped the throne of my child! You think I would like to live under the roof of someone like you?" She sounds bitter, and your Queen Mother glares at her.

Per your little deal, you let her leave the palace with her kids in tow. You receive a report from your soldiers that she crossed the western border.

832 AD, Winter

Another migrant wave have moved into your Kingdom via the western borders. The governors are troubled, as they're not sure if it would be wise to house so many in so little time. However, they still ask the Crown's guidance in this matter.

A) Shrug, and let the governors do as they see fit.
B) Uphold your previous decision, and let all of the fleeing Kiwis in.
C) Overturn your previous decision, and forbid entry of any new Kiwi migrants into Luathbas.

You order the soldiers to search for her and bring her back.

Three days later they return will all six in tow, having found Aolineniya in the forests near the western border.

She is brought to you but refuses to explain herself.

"Clearly she is trying to concoct some plan to undermine your rule!" Queen Mother Ciri, standing at your side, was always distrustful of the elven girl.

A) Offer to let her and her children go if she explains herself.
B) Confine Aolineniya to her previous chambers and put guards there.
C) Throw her into the dungeon and keep her children under constant watch.
D) Have Aolineniya executed and throw the kids into the dungeon to remove the (potential) threat forever.

You agree to that easily.

832, Autumn

Your sister-in-law, Aolineniya, is missing from the palace!

Her four children and her personal maid are gone also.

A) Let her go, she was doing nothing but occupying palace chambers for free.
B) Have the soldiers search for her and bring her back so she explains her ridiculous behavior.
C) Order the soldiers to find and execute her as surely she will plot (or already is!) the demise of our dynasty's branch in the future!

You order the governors to welcome the migrants. All of them.

832 AD, Summer

Ahab Hahalol is back, and he quickly explains that his King is willing to provide some tax cuts for Luathbas goods and better treatment of the merchants if you cease the trade with Gubtas.

A) Yep, that sounds good.
B) Naw, I had change of mind!

You explain that you're doing it only for profit so if Parsian King can provide similarily profitable deal, you see no reason to continue the trade with Gubta.

Mr.Hahalol stares at you for a while.

"Fine! I shall inform my King about your counter-proposal, even if you're already profiting off us by controlling the golden crossroads that is Augas!" He then storms off.

832 AD, Summer

A large group of migrants have arrived in the western cities, their governors report.

Apparently, there was a big civil war in the Kiwi Empire (when did that change??), and the current ruler is even more mad and paranoid than the ones previously on the throne.

The governors ask if the Crown has something to say about the migrants.

A) Shrug and leave it to the governors.
B) Order that all migrants are to be allowed settlement amongst Luathbas peoples.
C) Order that all migrants are to be forced out of Luathbas, lest the Kiwis get unhealthy interest in us.

You demand both festivals and mercenaries.

832 AD, Spring

Guards report that Parsian emissary, Ahab Hahalol ("Iron-worded"), have arrived at the gate-

*THUD*

Here comes an angry, bearded Parsian in green robe, red pants and yellow shoes.

"I am Ahab Hahalol, emissary of the King of Parsia! Our good King have found out that you're having trade dealings with our arch-enemies, the Gubtas! If you value the peace between Parsia and Luathbas, you will have to stop the exchange of goods with them. I have spoken, with authority of my King!" He crosses his arms and stares at you.

A) Refuse the demand.
B) Accept the demand but only if the Parsian King offers some profitable agreement in return.
C) Accept the demand to preserve the peace between Luathbas and its neighbour.

You tell him that you happily accept Benelisse the Unwanted as your wife. He bows and leaves to inform Queen Alexandra of your decision.

831 AD, Winter

The marriage ceremony is a simple and a quick manner, especially as you have more important things on mind. The 'Unwanted' moniker suits Benelisse; she has a stutter, red splotches on her face and terrible skills with knitting and conversation. Her aunt, that's it, Queen Alexandra, did not attend due to 'pressing matters', but a rumor came from Benelisse's entourage that the Queen was actually furious about what you did.

The trade advisor reports good news; the exchange with Gubtas brought extra wealth to the Kingdom's coffers.

831 AD, End of the Year

The advisor brings you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status. You dread the numbers on these scrolls, considering the huge casaulties of the campaign, loss of the populous Southern Territories, and the people's unhappiness from the defeat...

Happiness: 2
Population: 4
Economy: 5
Army: 3

These... you reckon these could be worse.

"My dear King," starts the Advisor, "As you can see the people are unhappy with the rule of Houlandin dynasty. Our army is also in shambles following your brother's failed campaign. However, the Treasury is growing rich thanks to the revenues from the East. Shall we spend some coin on bettering the lifes of the peasants?"

A) "Yes, lets throw some festivals to improve the people's mood."
B) "Yes, get me some festivals. Also, buy services of mercenaries as well! We have to replenish our army's numbers."
C) "No, it is the army that we need! Hire me some mercenaries at once!"
D) "No, we shall do naught about this."

You tell him that the Kingdom rejects both demands, and ask him to persuade the Queen to drop those ideas too.

Duke Dakpaklaktak is back.

"My Queen has decided to be lenient with your nation and cease the hostilities if you are to marry her niece, Benelisse the Unwanted."

You think of the proposal. With such a nickname, you reckon that Benelisse is most probably ugly, stupid, sterile, or the combination of the three. However, you have a hunch that the Queen is probably giving you her 'unwanted' niece just so you reject her, giving the Queen a reason to continue her hostilities against your crippled and almost defenseless country.

Or maybe she is just mocking you.

A) Accept Benelisse as a wife to fuck up with Queen Alexandra's plans.
B) Reject this final proposal, knowing where it will ultimately lead.
