You order the Army to march out and meet with the foes in the east! Only a small garrison is left at Abur.

After less than half a day of travels, the armies meet and then clash.

Quote

The masses collide and amidst flanking, horsemen rushes and sporadic arrow volleys, Parsians suffer heavy casaulties, but the amount of corpses amongst your troops aren't small either.

By the end of the day, the army is repelled and flees eastwards, leaving the heavy supply wagons behind. More than half your forces return to Abur next morning.

The northern army must've learnt of the defeat of the eastern one, because scouts report that within two days the northern group retreated northwards as well.

"The time to strike eastwards is now, sire!!" The military commanders declare, but as their King, it's up to you. Finally, you decide that...

A) This time we go on offensive. We march out!
B) We need to stay at Abur for a while longer and prepare.

12002
That is not a lot of information to make strategic decisions around...

Yeh the post ate a line, fixed :v

12003
You request another raiding to be done.

Quote

After some time, the result is even worse than before; many good horses and their riders perish while damage to Parsians is minimal.

817 AD, Mid-Autumn

In a week, scouts report that two armies are marching toward Abur; one from the north, other from the east. They're both Parsian, comprised of thousands of spearmen with lots of supplies. The northern unit is smaller, but is also further away from Abur than the other.

The enemy might be preparing a proper siege this time. After a debate with your military commanders, you decide to...

A) Order the Army to march out northwards and clash with the Parsians coming from that direction.
B) Order the Army to march out eastwards and clash with the Parsians coming from that direction.
C) Begin preparations to survive another siege at Abur.

12004
I think you meant 'Siberia' for Asia, not 'Serbia' :P

12005
You order that small units are to be deployed and sent eastwards to harass the enemy and gather information, if possible.

Quote

After several days, they bring their reports:

They were unsuccessfu. The Parsians, too, have dispatched similar units it seems, and Luathbas raiders often clashed with those, themselves suffering casaulties. Their effect against the enemy was minimal.

A) March out with the Army to force Parsians into the field, and keep only a small garrison at Abur.
B) Continue with the harassing and raiding parties.
C) Reduce the activity down to only scouts, singular or in small groups.

12006
Your order the sentries to signal the raiders to ride westwards and help the reinforcements before its too late!

Quote
6 auugh!

The Cataphracts must've been too occupied by the reinforcements from Luathbas, because they did not see your raiders incoming! The mighty, armored, fearsome Parsian cavalry was taken in a pincer attack and even against that their prized unit cannot fight well.

The Cataphracts are decimated and sent running! This also causes the Parsians encamped around Abur to abandon their posts and flee in chaos!!

By the afternoon your raiders, alongside the reinforcements, with only some of them wounded or dead, arrive at Abur fortress - behind them come wagons full of war supplies. A messenger also arrives, bringing news from the court.

Apparently, despite initial threats, Lametanians failed to follow up on them, and the southern border is suspiciously quiet.
Also, by the Summer, a group of dwarves have arrived, inquring about the tomb and its area, as they wished to convert it into a temple of their fallen hero. The advisor and your Mother rejected the idea, but allowed the dwarves to visit the site and remove the treasures and the dead within.
By Midsummer, the court hath learned of the Siege at Abur, and therefore have sent these reinforcements to you. Unfortunately, they had to rely on mercenaries again, and because both the spirits of populace and Treasury numbers are rather low, they cannot promise that they will be able to send any more this year; your Queen Mother hopes that you can defeat the Parsians quickly.

You now have the supplies, fresh reinforcements, and the Siege of Abur has been successfully broken! The rampant (and very, very alcohol-infused) celebrations amongst your exhausted soldiers last till morning.

Few days later, your military commanders appear for an audience with you. They say that, while Abur fortress is safe, and so is the local area, eastwards, the besieged outposts - if not lost outposts - are still an issue to deal with. After lenghty debate, you decide to...

A) Leave only a small garrison at Abur, and march out with rest of Army to retake the eastern parts of Augas province in a show of Luathbas strength!
B) Keep the Abur moderately garrisoned, and send small detachments of horsemen to harass enemy singular units, forward camps and maybe even supply lines.
C) Send no one else but scouting parties to gather information for the next week or so.

12007
You order your forces to sail forth and smash the enemy camp!!

Quote
5

They do so! The remaining horsemen pick apart the camp and manage to incur several hundred casaulties... However, no important officers are captured, and the Parsian supplies are mostly gone, along with camp followers!

Then the sentries from the towers raise an alarm - they have noticed Luathbas banners intermixing with the Parsians in the west! The empty camp was a distraction so that the Parsians could strike your reinforcements!!

Your military commanders are torn between what to do now - but you decide to...

A) Signal the troops in the east to return to Abur and strike against the rear of Cataphracts - maybe it is not too late!
B) Admit your own foolishness and signal the raiders to return home to rest and recuperate, so at least their unit won't be destroyed today.

12008
You tell the messenger to go back and advise Lord Amar to prepare for more bloodshed!

Next day, Lord Amar's forces listen to your advice and attack once again!

Quote
7!*

This attack is different, however; the Parsians soon into the attempt lose coordination and they break into retreat more easily, and more haphazardly. Something must've happened...

817 AD, Autumn

After a lull in the attacks for almost a week, one day, your sentries on the highest towers report that the Parsian Cataphracts were, for some reason, moved to the very opposite of the main camp; that being to the west of Abur Fortress. A small contingent of footsoldiers has been sent westwards with the Cataphracts as well.

This information stirs your commanders, who ask for a council. During the council, it is decided that...

A) Nothing will be done about this development.
B) The detached Parsian Cataphracts shall be attacked in hopes of crippling them!
C) The weaker protected main camp of the Parsians will be raided!

Would anyone be interested in playing another game of Diplomacy? I don't have the time nor the interest to finish the Sengoku map, but there are other variants that I can run.

Host an Era of Diesel game instead, and I will join :P

You ask the Luathbas cavalry to strike the heart of enemy camp in glorious charge to threw the Parsians into chaos!

Quote
2*

The attempt goes poorly; while the charge took the Parsians by surprise, they managed to recoil; when Luathbas horsemen were nearing the tents of the officers, suddenly the mighty Parsian Cataphracts fell onto their flank, crushing the lightly-armored Luathbas riders into fine meaty paste.

Less than fifty horsemen returned from the charge.

One day after the unsuccessful charge, a messenger from Parsian camp have arrived at the gate. The gaudily colored man brings an invitation by Lord Amar, leader of Parsian Army, for negotiations.

Your commanders debate the proposal. During that, the commander stationed the longest in Augas and therefore having largest knowledge about their battle customs, explains:

"My liege, Parsians seldom agree to negotiate. If they do, then it's either because they plan a deception, maybe even assassination, or because they are suddenly in a dire need to stall, either to buy themselves time or to avoid fighting on two fronts. They do not negotiate for actual peace unless they're truly defeated and broken." After further debate with other commanders, you have a reply for the messenger, and that is...

A) You agree to meet with Lord Amar in his camp, with proper bodyguard detail at your side, of course.
B) You reject the proposal and advise Lord Amar to prepare for more bloodshed!

You therefore order part of the forces to march out and break through the western, perceived weakest, part of the enemy encirclement!

Quote
1

This attempt went, to be honest, terribly. Not only the weakest point wasn't broken through, there were also heavy casaulties amongst those attempting it.

Not more than few days later, the Parsians attempt another attempt to storm the walls!

Quote
6*

Just as your forces bled themselves trying to break through the encirclement, so did the Parsians bleed themselves on the heavily fortified walls of Abur Fortress! Thousands of their soldiers lose their lives for nothing.

817 AD, Late Summer

Your forces managed to recover a bit from the earlier attempt, and the Parsians seem to be content with waiting you out.

"MY YOUNG LIEGE!" The Marshal booms. "We should try again, otherwise the Parsians will soon recover the losses to their siege equipment and will thus have great chances at conquering the fortress!"

A) Verily! The Luathbas cavalry shall storm the main encampment of the Parsia.
B) Verily! Let's try again with breaking through western part of Parsians encirclement.
C) Nay! Sitting and waiting is what we ought to do this time!
