The army is ordered to counter-attack and reclaim the southern territories. Hopefully they can fight against foreign armies just as good as they fight against bandits.

The army stages a two-pronged assault against the main Lametanian army encampment. In the battle that lasts whole day, the soldiers of Luathbas annihilate the enemy forces and kick them back from where they came! The province is secured within few weeks, and the news of your victory spread about the region, and rumors say it made the Lametanian nobles very unhappy.

The King of Lametania vows that you will pay for this and the southern Luathbas will be Lametanian again!

804 AD, Mid-Spring

Your wife gives birth to your second son, Óidach.

804 AD, Late Spring

You receive news that King of Lametania got killed by bandits when inspecting lands of some relative of his. Oh well, accidents happen.

804 AD, Summer

A popular military commander of your Army arrives at the court.

"Sire, your army demands more men! We did have numerous victories under your enlightened rule, but we didn't achieve the victories without losing a single soldier, after all!"

A) He speaks the truth! Let's draft more peasants into the Army!
B) Nay, the army is fine as it is now.

You decline to host any sort of festival to preserve the Treasury.

803 AD, Winter

A report comes from the Duaz mines. The gold boosted the economy overall but the deposits are already running low, so the overseer will be closing the mining operations in few weeks.

803 AD, End of the Year

Guess who drops by your chambers with certain scrolls in his hands?

Kingdom of Lametania invades from the south! Their king provides a claim for the southern forests and surrounding villages because it was once part of Lametania

The Army is currently making sure that the Lametanians do not get past the claimed lands, while the advisor and councilmembers convene with you. After a while, it is agreed that we should:

A) Send a letter to King of Lametania and propose to solve this via negotiations.
B) Order the army to move in and take back the Luathbas' southern territories by force.
C) Bribe Lametanian generals and nobles involved in the campaign so they turn against their King's orders.
D) Send a letter to King of Lametania demanding detailed legal proof for his nation's claims.

I don't know why, but you kept disconnected and reconnecting every 5 minutes for the entire last day. What's wrong with your internet ?@.@

You offer to mediate the issue.

Quote

After the foreign noble arrives, you mediate the dispute between the two. The audience takes quite long and extends into late evening before both sides leave, somewhat satisfied with the consensus that you managed to produce.

The miners sent to Duaz hills come back bringing gold! The amount is only meager, though, and can possibly provide some revenue for a year or two tops. A small mining operation is therefore started in the hills.

802 AD, End of the Year

The advisor arrives on schedule, bringing his venerable scrolls with him:

After the harvest, this extremely uneventful year is drawing to a close. The crops provided much sustenance, and the population will surely increase next year.

Some city mayors believe that it would be a good thing to thank the gods of harvest for this boon with a grandiose Festival, although the trade advisor believes that our economy isn't in good enough shape to host such lavish things.

A) Party time!
B) No money, no festivals.

//EDIT: added a missing quote, stupid select all.

12065
You ask him to tell of rocks and minerals that can be, besides gold of course, found in Duaz hills.

Quote
4*

He starts to tell you of the soil and the rocks and the visible layers and the presence of gold plus few other but less important ores, the latter in miniscule quantities.

Then you reply that these minerals never appear with the gold and the gold itself rarely if ever appears amongs the types of rocks the young prospector described.

The charlatain begs for mercy but your royal guards drag him to the dungeon without delay.

You do ask the advisor to send some trusted miners to see if maybe, just maybe, there is some gold in Duaz hills after all.

802 AD, Winter

Your beloved wife gives birth to another daughter, and she calls her Eiri.

802 AD, Midwinter

Duke of Fukas arrives to ask you to help solve a dispute between him and a land-owner from the neighbouring kingdom, as they cannot find a compromise about the ownership of Gyddalleach Glade, prized for having rare herbs and mushrooms growing within it.

A) Offer to mediate the issue between them
B) Offer to send the Crown's troops to seize the Glade
C) Refuse to get involved

After some consideration for rationing of foodstuffs, you nonetheless decide to buy them from abroad.

Quote
1

Either everyone takes great joy of your kingdom's suffering or there was terrible harvest everywhere, because the price for the grain you need to procure is astronomically high and terribly drains the Royal Treasury. Not to mention that amount of food procured is rather small and the deliveries are infrequent; the people are fed, but some succumb to the starvation before that happens.

802 AD, Autumn

A young man, prospector by trade, arrives at the court and during the audience with you he offers to mine certain gold deposits in the Duaz hills for the Luathbas' Crown. He just asks for some monetary dispensation so that he can procure necessary supplies, equipment and pay for miners' wages.

A) Pay him a certain amount to provide for the supplies he needs
B) Turn him down as the Treasury cannot pay for his expenses
C) Ask him to regale you with the descriptions of the rocks and other minerals that can be found in Duaz hills

12068
Either A or B, pls v;

12069
You decline the offer to join the alliance but also mention that some of your men might be willing to play 'mercenaries'. After some hushed debate, the dignitaries agree to take few hundred men with them.

Quote
6 (again??)

Apparently your men are some sorts of army-wrecking band of heroes because the tales of their wartime exploits and the absurd string of victories reach the ears of your court and your population very soon. This raises the prestige of the Army which sees quite a lot of young hotshots willing to 'play heroes' as well.

801 AD, Midwinter

Your wife gives birth to a daughter. Her name is Gwynna.

Oh look, its the advisor with those scrolls of his.

Nothing better than a strong military, eh?

802 AD, Spring

Famine strikes Lauthbas! The advisor believes that it would be better to rather thin the Treasury than give the slightly discontent populace a reason to complain. The decision is up to you, though:

A) Ration available foodstuffs
B) Spend money on acquiring foodstuffs from abroad

You offer to hear his case to establish if he has actual legal grounds for it.

Quote
7!*

He therefore boldly lists his descendants, and the circumstances behind his conception, and the noble lineage of Royal Concubine of the previous King, and then he cites the numerous hereditary laws from Year 786.

Unfortunately (for him, that's it), your scholarly knowledge allows you to blast his 'legal basis' thanks to the fact that the laws were updated in 789 by Caucach himself to exclude certain 'undesirables', and you even recite them from memory to prove your point, which is: the boy has in fact no claims to your throne at all.

The youth breaks down crying while the royal guard finally does its job and hauls him to the dungeon. The advisor sheds a tear of pride while the military officials applaud your wisdom.

It is this day that you gain the nickname "Lawsmaster".

801 AD, Autumn

Your son Romuald catches a nasty swamp fever that kills 8 children out of 10 and often leaves the 9th severely crippled and weak.

Truly he must've been blessed by the Gods as it turns out he was that 10th out of 10.

Foreign dignitaries from a land in the west come bearing lavish gifts of money and valuables, followed by an offer to join their military alliance against the oppressive Kingdom of Kiwi, located also in the west

You decide to:

A) Accept the offer and commence with the military campaign at once
B) Decline, but offer to send a troop or two as 'mercenary aid'
C) Refuse to get involved in foreign wars

A knight tournament, yaaay!

Many knights and squires battle for glory and monetary compensation, and this is a ripe field for the army to get new recruits and loyal knight-errants.

The Treasury does suffer a bit from this lavish event, though.

801 AD, Summer

One day when you're convening with your advisor and military officials about the color of the royal army banners, a young man, brandishing a blade, bursts into the throne room!

Curse the royal guard, it never does its job properly!

"I am rightful heir of the Caucath, the previous King of Lauthbas!" The youth shouts. "I challenge you to a duel, you filthy usurper, so that I can restore my family's honor and retake the throne!"

A) Have the officials kill the fool so you can carry on with more important stuff
B) Accept the challenge and duel the youth
C) Offer to hear his case to see if it at least has any legal grounds for it

You lead the troops personally! FOR GLORY!!

Quote

Even with your clumsy leadership, the army manages to properly meet with a singular attempt by the bandits to form something of a coherent unit; your two thousand able-bodied men have no problems crushing a group of four hundred savages.

Any future raiders from the north will think twice before they dare to raid Lauthbas again!

800 AD, End of Year

The advisor brings you the enigmatic and laconic Scrolls of Kingdom Status:

Happiness: 4
Population: 4
Economy: 6
Army: 4

No changes there it seems.

801 AD, Spring

Your wife gives birth to your son and heir! She names him Romuald; if you die, he will henceforth become Houlandin II, unless he decides to start a new naming trend of his own.

801 AD, Mid-Spring

The advisor believes that it would be a good idea to host a tournmanent or a contest or some such, as it has been a while since such an entertaining venue was held by the Crown.

A) Splendid! Let's host a knightly tournament!
B) Splendid! Let's host a song contest!
C) That will cost lotsa money, right? I ain't spending my money!

The advisor is inquiring if you will be:

A) Leading the troops personally
B) Staying in the capital

EDIT: Sorry for derp with lack of clear options there .'v

You therefore inquire, via letter of course, if maybe he would be willing to send one of his other daughters as your new wife.

Quote
2

In his reply he expresses his outrage at the rude writing of your letter, and your proposal in general. At the end of the letter he writes that if you're not interested in his daughter than you aren't worthy of being part of his family in the first place.

You are so heartbroken that you decide to marry your distant cousin. At least she is quite pretty.

800 AD, Winter

The winter is unusually harsh and cold this year! It even forces the mountain bandits from the north to come harass some important (especially in such harsh weather) settlements for food (and, of course, fancy loot).

Shall you:

A) Do nothing about it, even bandits have to eat after all
B) Send in your mighty army to deal with the brigands
C) Quietly send a tribute to the brigands so they stop with the raids

800 AD*

You are Houlandin, you are known for your wise choices, and you just helped overthrow the evil tyrant of the Kingdom of Luathbas. You are selected by other co-conspirators as the new King!

The advisor to the throne presents you with the report on the status of the kingdom:

You have no idea what these mean and the advisor is babbling in purple prose about them. Oh let's just carry on!

800 AD, Summer

A marriage proposal, oh boy!

The king of a small not-that-far-located kingdom offers you the hand of his fourth daughter!

You shall:

A) Accept her hand in marriage
B) Politely decline
C) Inquire if perhaps you might ask for hand of some other daughter of his
