"But of course." The Kovalian princess turned to Rosana.
"That would be all. I will let you go back to Zorestria now." Then she remembered something and stepped up to Rosana, going on her toes to whisper something to her.
"Of course. I will do my best, rest assured, Princess."
"Thank you." She nodded at the guards, who quickly opened the fenced area. Some others brought horses. Two guards brought weapons wrapped in white cloth.
"I'm also returning Aliberti's sword, and this strange axe. We never saw such a thing, so I must assume it's some family's heirloom."
"...I see. Well, like I said, I'm not sure on the roster, I was asked to join this group just this morning, but Rosana will probably know if you are to come with us or not. Please wait a moment, Sir Hildebrand, I'm sure Rosana is about to be here."
"Hello, everyone. Is my sister Rosana not with you?"
"If that is your wish. How about you, Miss Maribel?"
"I do. But I would rather have a pleasant talk with Miss Maribel than toss demands and threats at her. After all, that is more of a Miccahian tactic, considering how well you keep foreign people from spilling your secrets." Hearing the snarks escalating, Princess Rosana coughed VERY DAMN LOUD to distract the two.
"To the point. Miss Maribel, Sir Chance, the relationship between Kovalia and Zorestria will be... sour, for a possibly long while. If you are worried about your wellbeing, I will gladly find you a place at my court. You can stay as long as you want."
"I can assure you that both Maribel and Chance will be well treated at the Palace... but I do have to admit I can't say the same about capital's streets and alleys."
"Hello." Princess Eleonore put her hand on the wooden fence. Some guards tensed and moved closer to the Princess, just in case.
"I heard that, in your group, besides Chance, there's also Maribel, who's also a Kovalian?"
"Thank you, Mister Noel. You will now be returned to the fenced area but we will let you and your friends freed soon, and then I will have some of my knights escort you for a brief while. Captain Alma, please take Mister Noel back to his friends. I have to talk with Aliberti. And Rosana." With a salute, Alma took Noel by hand and then 'helped' him out of the tent. And then he was marched back to the fenced 'pen' for the captives.
"Noel! Can't you at least try to be... be understanding here?" Princess Eleonore closed her eyes, deciding to politely not stare at her angry, defeated to-be-husbando.
"I will sign it. After all, i have the same powers-"
"No!" Aliberti moved forward and seized the paper from Noel. Then he sat down at the table.
"I'm the one signing papers in this army and the one responsible for the signatures. Me and me alone." After a moment of hesitation, he dipped the quill in the ink and signed the document. Naturally, Princess Eleonore handed him a copy as well, and he signed that one too, without further delay.
"Please, Mister Noel, your signature here and here." She pushed both documents toward him as Aliberti turned his face away, his sister giving him a pat on the shoulder.
"Nothing overly presumptuous. Feel free to peruse it, mister Noel." Princess Eleonore stood up to pass the scroll to Noel and lo, he could see that the stories of her... small stature weren't overexaggerated. She was about Aliberti's age, but she was only slightly over five feet tall.It is the mutual desire of both the Kingdom of Kovalia and its senior state, the Zorestrian Empire, to cease hostilities between the two nations and resume an amicable political relationship.
This will be assured on the grounds that Kingdom of Kovalia will immediately cease being a vassal and dependent state of Zorestrian Empire, and instead be granted the ability to self-rule and will not be required to provide any taxation or tribute to the Zorestrian Throne.
Furthermore, Zorestrian Empire will empty the castles currently garrisoned by its forces in the territory of Kingdom of Kovalia and return their ownership and gathered supplies to Kovalian Crown.
Also, every Zorestrian courtier will be removed from the Kovalian palace and all administrators and Imperial overseers will vacant their posts in Kovalian cities and garrisons, effective immediately.
It is the wish of Princess Eleonore that any Zorestrian soldier that wishes to remain in Kovalia will be allowed to, provided they are willing to join ranks of Kovalian Army and/or marry (or have married) a Kovalian and/or they already have children with a Kovalian.
This wish shall be assumed granted by signature of Princess Aliberti or Princess Rosana, of Zorestria, on this scroll.
It is the wish of Prince Aliberti and Princess Rosana that Kovalia ceases to interfere with the plan of saving the known world from the impact of the great rock of the sky.
This wish shall be assumed granted by signature of Princess Eleonore of Kovalia, on this scroll.
This document has been written and given for signature of interested parties on 38th Kavern, ZY 1019.
Signatories:
Princess Eleonore, Kovalia
"You will... sign it at the end. After Aliberti."
"As it should be. Please remember to write 'witness' somewhere after you name, too." With that, Princess Eleonore sat at the table again, opposite from Aliberti, and stared at her future-husband with pity in her eyes.
Though personally, I don't really have a favorite style. Pizza est. One does not rank crusts, one consumes them.
"Princess, I brought in the person whose presence you requested." Princess Eleonore nodded while Princess Rosana jumped from a cushion and walked up to the mage.
"Noel, are you alright? How's everyone?" Prince Aliberti, on other hand, was sitting at a small table, staring at a scroll, densely written in small script. A quill and ink bottle were nearby, but the Prince was devastated and kept silently staring at one spot at the table. He wasn't eager to sign anything.
