There's a new poll in case someone missed it ;v
Update 3: Frantic Survival (and 20 battles of Heidelburg)
So you can make peace with them next turn and then make me look like a warmonger or something like that? Pfft no, fuck off Caesar.

Did I mention today how I hate Caesar?
Oh whaddaya know, it's Rome itself that's sending ships.
Next turn Mongols declared war on us.
We ain't doing that well :I

Hopefully we will survive long enough to make some veteran Crossbowmen.
Next few turns are full of bloody Knight x Pikemen x Pikemen x Catapult action. Fortunately we repel all the attacks and even recapture our fortresses.

I stopped counting after the last one.

Aw yis. Time to slowly replace our Pikemen with the ultimate pre-gunpowder city guards!

Caesar just got 5 more points on 'how much Haspen hates you' scale.

HOW MUCH MONEY DOES HE HAVE!?!
Because of that our settlement of Heidelburg, staffed by a single Crossbowman, had to deal with a Knight, two Catapults, a Crossbowman, two Pikemen and a Roman Cataphract (where did they pull that one out?).
Miraculously it had survived.

At last, we have Gunpowder.

And someone has Metallurgy which renders our Great Middle Finger Wall no longer useful. That gave Romans and Mongols enough incentive to double attack Heidelburg.
After initial attacks the city was 1 turn away from getting a Musketeer, then our Crossbowman died and a wounded knight was poised to take the city. In a fit of panic, I've sent a nearby Settler on road to Heidelburg and he has just enough movement to get inside the city.
The knight attacked... and the Settler tanked him \o/
Next turn we got that Musketeer and all was well.

I think Mao took some jerkiness lessons from our buddy Caesar.
Couple of uneventful turns except Zulus and Mongols both making Wonders and boasting their techs to us (Zulus just discovered Atomic Theory).
That Mongol Frigate is actually a stack of
four frigates that keep roaming in a line. I think Genghis wants to bombard Heidelburg but the ships cannot reach it so they just angrily surf on the coast.
It's 1790AD now, ze German reich is still alive and currently working on tenets of Democracy.
