The singular chest held a Physic staff; the two chests on the right had Angelic Robe and Body Ring.

However...



...approaching the left treasury would let a character notice that the banner was dirty, as mentioned by the note in the money chest at the beginning of the map.

If someone would approach it, they would get time-travel teleportizing to FEF2 Secret #3, and visit...

"I... I was almost sure... g-ghh-" She then faceplanted the carpet as the delicious air filled the lungs of those once trapped with her in the Void.

The sounds of the combat downstairs went quiet after a while. Then, General Carlinn and others caught up with those at the gallery's entrance.

"Julius! The reinforcements will harass us constantly. We, or at least you people should continue into the Upper Keep immediately. Upper Keep is connected with the Lower Keep, but not the Right and Left Wings of the palace. One needs to fight through these two corridors, by the audience hall and the armory, to get upstairs. If you order us to, me and Magister's mages will hold the passages. Commander Fyra will go with you to show you the way to the Throne Room, or if the Emperor won't be here, to his personal quarters. What are your orders?"

//If General Carlinn is ordered by Julius to stay, you lose support of him and the mages, but Commander Fyra, Ram and Renault Istair will continue along with you.
General Carlinn's blockade will stop Infinite Reinforcements from occuring in the next chapter, and will be able to stop or at least greatly reduce any other reinforcements that might show up.
Discuss and decide, but remember that Julius (Furtuka) has to pass the decision ICly!

Update 6: Chinese Glory, Japanese Downfall, Indian Inferiority

The Senate of the Chinese Republic have decided that we should punish the Japanese for their piracy!



First of all we gotta rebuild our military infrastructure that is, Barracks; Gunpowder (and later on, Mobile Warfare) makes them 'obsolete' and forcibly sells all standing Barracks for 40 coins.



Also we captured a leader of that uprising! 50 coins to our treasury, yay.

Oh hey they actually have 2 cities! Our galley just found this one by accident, I moved it south instead west. We will need extra musketeers and catapults it seems.



I forgot that Aztecs have Lighthouse! No wonder their trireme got so far on its own.

PS: It sailed away, was later seen passing by Hangchow's shores, and then disappeared without a trace.

Maaan I just noticed the amount of Corruption that Hangchow has! This place is den of criminals, but we will fix it.

...and the Senate just signed peace treaty with the Japanese behind my back when I refused to see their emissary! CURSE YOU SENATE! *angry fistshake*

Pffffffft, as if Japanese had anything to say about being honorable!

However! The Senate have relented its peacemaking ways and didn't implode our Republic once we broke the treaty. Phew, crisis averted.



It seems that Japanese had a whole lot of gold in Kyoto! Our musketeers captured the city after the catapult mauled a Legion stationed in the Japanese capital. Now onto Osaka.





And like that, the Japanese are gone. 2 out of 7 Civilizations* of this world are gone.

I've disbanded the catapults and with all this cash, was able to rush some city improvements across our empire.

I also did this:



It's about time we paid our neighbours the Indians a diplomatic visit, don't you agree? I will try to establish embassy with them to spy on their units, cities and research. I also decided to launch some Caravans; the trade with Indians could boost our income a bit!



And this is what happens when you don't scout around your borders every so often! But as long as Indians aren't hostile, I'm content with that city just sitting there-

They expelled my diplomat! The bastards.



Aw yiss.



Awww yissss.



Our diplomat snuck into Lahore and established embassy with Indians and they... they suck. Look at it! Despotism, in 40BC! They have 6 cities; Bombay and Delhi which we knew about earlier, plus Lahore here, and 3 others.

Gandhi is also at war with the Vikings, which worries me. Vikings start all the way in Europe, even past Greeks. They must have a considerable empire and/or amount of riders to wage war with Gandhi.



Look at me throne room! All this marble and furs <3



And our caravan makes it to Delhi undisturbed. 102 coins is quite a hefty amount, really.

It won't be a bad place to end this very successful update and continuation of the story of Chinese Republic; let's top it with a map! Had to unzoom a little bit to get all our cities in it:

Yeah, ultimately all footsoldiers from ancient times will promote to Musketeers; all Catapults into Cannons; and all mounted units into Dragoons. Same for the ships; those on transportey side will turn into Transports, and all old warships will end being Destroyers.

Commander Aserbaena looked over the ones in the gallery, then raised her sword... and darkness arrived to engulf them, their friends noticing the burst of dark smoke just for a brief instance...

Everyone inside the darkness began to choke as the air was very thin! And their motions were slowed!

"Welcome to the Void, another of the ingenious traps made by my ancestors... There's almost no air for you to breathe. You're separated from your friends. One by one, I shall slay you, then watch your lives expire, and then I will drag your friends in... till last of you rebel filth perishes. Embrace your suffering, because that's all you have left!" She then drank a portion of her elixir as her pendant flashed once more!

Update 5: The Pirates of Japan



SUDDENLY JAPANESE INSTEAD OF ZULUS!

After a tech trade, they demanded another tech, which I refused to give, so they declared war.



Pity that the only unit they landed on our coasts was a Settler; the Beijing archers took care of him. However we will need to build some Triremes, if only to stop Catamarans from fetching over actual Japanese forces. I mean if all they gonna do is throw Settlers and Catamarans at us, we can laugh at their direction with impunity.



I take that back.

Our brave Archers rushed outside Beijing and even with 2/3 strength they obliterated the Japanese chariot. I bought a Trireme you see in the corner which then... got counter-sunk by the visible Catamaran.

China cannot into sea apparently '<.

Next Trireme that I've bought had better luck though. I also switched from Great Wall to Lighthouse, so we will have an advantage in terms of sea-safety and-



Dammit. Back to Great Wall then.

Next turn our trireme spots Japanese trireme transporting 2 chariots!



They don't land on our coast. Awww yes! China can into sea after all \o/

Our trireme found their capital city of Kyoto. Actually, I wonder if they have any other cities *at all*. Unfortunately that Trireme of ours got jumped out by Japanese one that left Kyoto next turn.

And yes that is a Horse Archer of ours there. I've decided to build a fortress and station them there, so they can easily respond to any coastal landing from there.



Just after we finish the Great Wall of Beijing, barbarians attack! I've sent the Horse Archer to kill the horsemen and try to catch the barbarian leader; they pay you 25/50/100 gold in ransom if defeated.

PS: He got away and disappeared two turns later. Aw.



We get Invention! Leonardo's Workshop is very nice Wonder; it automatically upgrades all the units you have into their newest version - unfortunately it also deprives the upgraded unit from Veteran status if their predecessors had it. In my mod, it also lets you create Crossbowmen:




As you can see, they're very good units at this stage of game but they're expensive. Their immediate replacement, Musketeers, have more hitpoints (thus twice the staying power) and you can buy 2 Musketeers for 1 Crossbowmen unit; also Musketeers replace almost every unit from the Ancient times (Phalanxes, Legions, Archers, Pikemen, and my Crossbowmen, if we go details).

Unfortunately Gunpowder wasn't on the list of available topics, which saddens me. I've decided to go with Navigation.

Next 10 or so turn are spent on irrigation and road networking. Not much happens, and the Japanese emissary struck a cease-fire with us.



This also happens. Recently the city finished its Aqueduct and population reached 10; at this amount people are getting upset if you don't have anything else than simple Temple to appease them. As Beijing is our capital, I had to buy them a Colliseum to keep our government running.




Next turn we research Navigation and besides vanilla Caravel, my mod adds Galley; it's a tough little ship, albeit slow and can sink from storms (only 12.5% chance, as we're at Navigation already). Unfortunately it has only 2 transport spaces compared to Caravel's three (and Galleon's four).



Shanghai soon finishes it's Copernicus Observatory. We're on the way to roll over research before all others.



Barbarian uprising rustles my jimmies, but...



...we now have access to Gunpowder. It is 500BC and Chinese can make musketeers! That means that with Leonardo's Workshop built (in teh future that's it) or meek Phalanxes will soon be tough, musket-wielding footsoldiers of invicibility.

However, we need to solve The Japanese Dillemma. They continue to harass my triremes with their own from time to time but they hardly transport anyone to our coast. We're currently at cease-fire but it will eventually expire ($5 that Japanese will break it and attack us much earlier than that anyways).

What do we do with the Japanese? Shall we lay siege to Kyoto and end the threat to our borders or just let the nuisance ferment on its own tiny island?
