Hello! As I'm playing a lot of Civilization II lately, and began to mod it a little (mostly by adding some stuff), I've decided that 'hey, maybe Bay12 wants to read at my progress?'.
But first, a spoilered list of the changes in my little mod plus
a link to said mod.Haspen's Civ2 mod! (version: 18d)
Adds 2 new techs, 11 new units and 2 custom maps.
HOW TO INSTALL:
(Warning! This mod overwrites some of original Civ2 files. Backup those files before doing any changes, bruh!)
Put the andala.mp, tanga.mp, describe.txt, rules.txt and units.gif files into main folder, choose 'yes' when asked to overwrite.
Put CUSTOM1 and EXTRA1-4&6-8 files to Sound folder.
ADDS:
Maps:
Andala: very large world with huge landmasses, almost all of them connected, and plethora of islands/archipelagos in the south.
Tanga: very large world with lots of mixed continents and islands of all sizes.
Technologies:
1. Horse Equipment (requires Horseback Riding + Iron Working):
Adds 'Horse Archer' and 'Cataphract' units. Replaces Horseback Riding as one of requirements for Chivalry tech.
2. Aeronautics (requires Theory of Gravity + The Corporation):
Adds 'Airship' unit. Replaces Theory of Gravity as one of requirements for Flight tech.
3. Privateering (requires Trade + Navigation):
Adds 'Privateer' unit. Replaces Navigation as one of requirements for Amphibious Warfare tech.
Tech linkage:
Chivalry now requires Feudalism and Horse Equipment (default: Feudalism and Horseback Riding)
Genetic Engineering now requires Medicine and Computers (default: Medicine and The Corporation)
Flight now requires Combustion and Aeronautics (default: Combustion and Theory of Gravity)
Amphibious Warfare now requires Tactics and Privateering (default: Tactics and Navigation)
Units:
1. Deathbot (requires Fusion Power)
Think beefed-up Battleship that walks across continents and kills things. Very expensive to build, though (300 shields).
2. Catamaran (no requirements)
Tiny, defenseless boat that can carry 1 unit. It will sink on open sea. No longer available after discovery of Seafaring.
3. Balloon (requires Theory of Gravity)
First air unit, 2 movement and sees 2 tiles away. No offensive capabilities and can be destroyed by land units. No longer available after discovery of Radio.
4. Horse Archer (requires Horse Equipment)
3 atk, 1def, 3 mov. Ideal for scouting/raiding. Later replaced by Dragoons (Leadership tech).
5. Galley (requires Navigation)
Beefed-up trireme, but can carry only 2 units, as only 3 mov and can sink on open sea. Later replaced by Transport (Industrialization tech).
6. Cataphract (requires Horse Equipment)
3 atk, 2def, 2 mov. Good all-rounder. Later replaced by Knights (Chivalry tech).
7. Crossbowmen (requires Invention)
3 atk, 4def. Will quickly get replaced by Musketeers (Gunpowder tech).
8. ICBM (requires The Laser)
Nuclear Missile with extra 10 movement (26 total). Replaces original Nuclear Missile.
9. Jet Fighter (requires Rocketry)
Basically a mid-way between Fighter (Flight tech) and Stealth Fighter (Stealth tech).
10. Airship (requires Aeronautics)
Primitive Bomber unit, slow and fragile, especially against Fighters. Later replaced by Bombers (Advanced Flight tech). Icon taken from 'C2FWFP' mod.
11. Privateer (requires Privateering)
4 atk, 1def unit that can do amphibious attacks (aka attack straight from a ship). Later replaced by Marines (Amphibious Warfare tech).
