Lugus and Cynbel saw that this was an ordinary burned tree stump. Naught strange about it.

The longboat captain didn't protest the accusation.

And so, while Oili was snoozing comfortably in the moss, Geraldine led her 4 companions through the forest. It took a while before she returned to the glade with the burned-out stump. There was no smoke and no fireman, the place was just like she left it minutes ago.

'It' stared at Geraldine.

Then it pointed in the same direction.

_{"Female... of flesh... pests of dirt... remove... restore my home... else... Mother shall... revenge..."}

Then Geraldine noticed that she was in the glade, but gentle breeze was blowing, birds were chirping, and clouds were lazily moving on the blue sky.

The fiery man was gone, and so was the flaming tree - in its place, there was a black tree stump, long ago burned down.

All characters are active again.

Geraldine thusly followed the wisp of smoke between the trees.

When she finally walked into the glade, the sky was red, the leaves were golden, and the middle of the tree was occupied by a tree that was burning with white-blue flame coming from a human figure, made of the flame, standing in front of it.

Geraldine also felt not wind, saw no clouds moving, and heard no birds chirping, as if everything stopped.

'It' was staring at Geraldine, but otherwise the fiery humanoid was just standing under the tree, providing the flame that engulfed the tree without burning it.

Geraldine is the only character active now.

Oili found a small crevice between the trees filled with comfortable moss growing all over it. It was quite cozy.

Cynbel saw that there was a piece of timber painted red, no doubt a splinter from a shield adorning the longboat's side. But for a longboat to be shielded, it must've been some wealthy merchant's longboat.

Geraldine in the meanwhile wandered between the trees for a while. The sounds of the sea were long behind her when she noticed something peculiar; a thin wisp of smoke rising from between the trees, further away from the beach. Campfire? Burning hut?

"You take skins of many slain sheep and then cure and prepare them till they are thin and you can then write on them, then you bind them with mixture of boiled water and bone powder and a length of string. Voila, a book is ready to be filled with words."

"Oh that one. She just didn't have enough-"

"When did that ship with the books crash again?"
