You decide to write a letter while you send an envoy to the Cartel to provide quality goldworks for the Crown.

Quote
6*

As you seal the letter with hot black wax and impress your ring into it, you are sure that it is the best you could do, explaining your feelings and emotions to the young maiden and informing her brother of the proposal.

810 AD, Midsummer

When the Marshal appears to talk with you, so does the Spymaster, leaving the shadows he was hidden in.

"M'liege." He tips his hat.

"My lord!" Says the Marshal. "Our Army grows in numbers week by week thanks to the funds we're obtained from the Treasury. We might have double the ranks at the end of this year."

"My liege, important information I have received from my agents: King Memech of Gon has met with envoys of Trist and Forc at the start of this Summer few times."

"And?"

"He has turned them away each time, and they left complaining about his hospitality." The Spymaster smiles insidiously.

"The rulers of Forc and Trist stand alone, this means!" The Marshal places his hands on his waist, the cape blowing behind him majestically. "And if they do, we ought to stomp them before they find support elsewhere!"

A) "Lets wait for the response to my letter first, we might avoid bloodshed altogether."
B) "You are right! The letter will confuse them, and in meanwhile we will already be deep into their borderlands!"

You decide to serve her a shot of Lamp.

When you place the shot down, Chester's eyes light up with plethora of blue and red lights in checkers-like patterns, while Augstina sniffs the synthol.

"What's this?"

"Lamp. Packs a punch."

"Fine with me." She raises her credchip and you scan it. (+55c)

Today Earnings: 1062c
Monthly Earnings: 1062c

She downs the shot in one go, and coughs.

"The plebiscite clearly showed that people of Beta Copernicus IVb wanted my family to remain in power. The bureaucrats from the New Federation tried to pass the results, the 78% of citizenry voting 'yes', as a counting error! The plebiscite was not enough for the damn Council to budge. They were totally for equity and egality or whatever the words are, and that under my family's rule the basic rights were opressed. Fucking lies."

"Your family does have. Some substantial priviledges in terms of administration. Tax exemption. And preferential treatment compared to the rest of Copernicans. The badmouthing law. As example. Prohibits anyone from speaking against the ruling head of the Akrylla family."

"Hell of a priviledge! Last time someone was put in prison for that was nearly forty years ago, in the times of my grandpa."

"I was stating. An example. New Federation Council listed that law. And eight other laws. As autocratic and belitting the Copernicans."

"No euthanasia camps! No food processors! No high-risk mining or refining operations! Hell, we have a home waiting list and food stamp system! We care for the people!"

"The New Federation Council--"

"Barkeep! Give me another!"

"This synthol is priced. Fifty five credits per shot. It is unwise to get angry-drunk. On such an expensive synthol."

"Fuck you Chester, I want another Lamp and I will have it." She grumbles and crosses her arms in a pouty way. Chester hands you her shot glass and when you grab it, he squeezes the glass.

"Lady Agustina will have something. Cheaper than Lamp. Please cooperate with me in this matter." The red-eyed android took his hand away from the glass as Agustina gave him an angry stare.

You decide to...

A) Pour Agustina another shot of Lamp.
B) Listen to the suddenly spooky android and pour her some...
*A) Wóda
*B) X-Magnum
C) Try to talk Agustina off the drinks for now.

You decide to make the sister of King Tastan your second wife.

And so announce thusly during the court meeting. Your courtiers are mostly cheerful, but some are quite shocked by your decision.

"The question is, my liege." The Advisor closes the door to your study after you return from the audiencing.

"How do we should approach such daring and sudden proposal. Suredly King Tastan will be careful to study our proposal, and his wife will quite probably not look at it favorably either. We ought to consider sending them gifts."

As for the proposal...

A) "Just fetch me a quill and an inkwell, I will pen a letter that will charm them both!"
B) "Find and hire the best writer of the kingdom!"

As for potential gifts...

A) "No gifts!"
B) "We have skilled goldworkers in relationship with our government! Send them golden items of highest quality!"

"It's time to return home, finally." Cecilia reached with her hand toward Levi.

"Come, vanquisher of evil. I will carry you once more."

Happy to finally be getting started! I think I've discovered a few mistakes:

Unfortunately, Here must regrettably point out that We do not yet have a +1 railroad bonus to improvements, having only three railroads, although we will likely have them later. Queen Alicia Heart, outraged, has declared war on Later for daring to steal our precious railroads from Now! Our brave troops seem to be having the problem that, whenever they believe to have reached a time controlled by the vile forces of Later, the time in fact turns out to be that of Now, but We are currently negotiating a treaty with Soon, Now's natural ally, and will therefore Soon have defeated Later.

Also, I believe Here's Max Armies prior to enacting Mass Conscription should be 9, not 10; 2 from base + 1 from capital + 1 from Monarchy + 3 from factories + 2 from populous provinces.

Additionally, it looks like nations with the Industrialized trait were given 3 starting factories; the original post specified they received 2.

Correct on these.

For all OOC discussion and other such things, go to discussion thread! That's also a place for all questions and mistake-pointing (and do point out mistakes, I'm not omniscient).

Please try to stay IC as often as possible.

A Large Monarchy will be spawned on westcoast.

Pre-Game turn for setting treaties and doctrines will begin as soon as TricMagic finishes sheetu.

1421
You announce that you will accept a new wife.

The courtiers murmur much more happily after that, and few of them promise to find you a good, Pantheonist lady.

810 AD, Summer

Cartel sends its money and its regards, but the size of the donation makes it obvious they haven't been as succesful as last year.

Shortly after dismissing their representatives, you are on your way for the dinner, only for the Spymaster to bump at you from the shadows.

"M'liege." He tips his hat. "I have reports on the situation within Trist and Forc borders." You grimace.

"Good news?"

"I shall let you judge them, sire. Queen Talia has been slowly working the nobles of Trist against you, as they remember that your men have killed a few of their fellows a few years ago. My agents have also ascertained that Talia's brothers are working with her to avenge her honor."

"Avenge her honor?"

"Yes, m'liege. She was very enticed to become your wife back then, you know, what with you being manly, victorious rebel and ally of justice and all that. Your less-than-pleasant reply soured her heart towards you and that sourness have only grew, well, more sour in the last decade."

"I was married to Milka. I had kids! Its been TEN years!" The Spymaster smirks.

"Apparently Queen Talia doesn't forgive or forget that easily." You scratch your beard a little bit.

"They haven't attacked yet, though?"

"Aye, that's because King Tastan has yet to be enticed into running their little private war. He is more preoccupied with establishing himself and seems less than enthusiastic about going around burning his neighbours fields and whatsnot, especially that he has no heir yet and the dynasty might end with him or his sister."

"He has a sister?"

"Aye, sire. She has lately turned eighteen, but is still without a husband. Apparently King Tastan doesn't want for her to end in a bad relationship, so he is very carefully vetting her suitors." A torch suddenly lights above your head.

A) "Call my courtiers to the audience hall! We have found a new Queen of Bailemarr!"
B) "King Tastan is very protective of his younger sister, then? Shame if something happened to her, don't you agree, my dear Spymaster?"
C) Thank the Spymaster for his report, extinguish that torch, and go for the dinner already.

1422
You tell the Advisor to send Treasurer with extra money to the Marshal. Bailemarrian army might need it soon!

810 AD, Mid-Spring

"Haven't we been over this already?" The courtiers murmur and cough at your annoyed tone of voice, filling the audience hall with noise.

"Yes, but that was in the year of mourning." One of them raises his voice. "And that year has long passed. The Queen's throne is vacant. The Kingdom needs a queen, and you, my liege, need a good wife!" Other courtiers murmur and nod in agreement.

A) "No, I shall never remarry!"
B) "We will talk about this next year."
C) "Alright then, find a Queen for my Kingdom!"

Cecilia briefly inspected the blood-splattered pendants.

"Mm, these be the names. I guess there's nothing else but to return home." Cecilia looked around at the sorry state of the place.

"And when we're back there remind me to tell old Gustav to take a party and assess the ruin. It could be renovated. Or at least partially rebuilt and put to some good use." She spoke, taking her pegasus outside.

1425
You agree to sponsor some festivals for the commoners, and put some money away to hire mercenaries for the Army.

810 AD, Spring

"An alliance? Against my kingdom??"

"Alas, this be truth, my liege." The Spymaster tips his hat. "My agents working abroad just sent me a warning about such a nasty plot brewing outside our borders."

"Who's preparing to strike us?" The Advisor asks, while the Spymaster unfurls the scroll in his hands.

"Two Kingdoms - Trist and Forc. Apparently, Princess Talia of Forc, having married the recently enthroned King Tastan of Trist, is collaborating with him and her elder brothers to strike at our lovely kingdom." You furrow your brows.

"For what purpose?" The Spymaster smiles sadly.

"My agents weren't able to ascertain. However, our Army isn't as it was before, our territory is vast and our resources rather limited. Perhaps to steal land or riches from us. Perhaps to kick us down a bit. Who knows but them." The Advisor strokes his beard thoughtfully, and then grumbles.

"And what about Memech of Gon?" The Spymaster shrugs.

"Not a word, yet, but I will have agents sent to ascertain what he is plotting, too." You dismiss the Spymaster, who leaves to do his job.

Distressted, the Advisor turns to you. "My liege, all these little kingdoms are in north and west of us. Each one is rather small and unremarkable but I would like to remind you that even the indomitable Saint Fray fell before the might of the three enemies who ambushed him on the Fefhyrllach Bridge. I would err on the side of caution and assume Memech, having been forced to give parts of his homeland at the end of our last war, isn't going to show up as our friend when the other two monarchs come knocking at our gates."

A) "You're overreacting. Let's wait for Spymaster's agents to bring us more information, especially about King Memech of Gon."
B) "Call the Marshal and ready the Army! They won't attack us because I will attack them first!!"
C) "We better prepare for the worst. Tell the Treasurer to deliver even more money to the Army, we need recruits and weapons, stat!"
