The clock hanging on the wall, stylized after small wooden house, was ticking. Chief of the State Ulrich looked at his handwatch; its golden hands were one minute thirty four seconds ahead.
"COO-CKOO! COO-CKOO!" The wall watch suddenly ejected a small bird on a spring, signaling 10pm.
"Hans, make an appointment with watchmaker. The wall clock is late and needs adjustment."
"Ja wohl, mein Führer!"
The adjutant quickly left the office, while Ulrich looked at the map of Europa. Russians were protecting their northern shores, and bulk of Ottoman armies were in Italy. Prussian forces were preparing for the strike. General Franz von Bappen leaned in the chair and then looked at his own hand watch. In silence and half-darkness of the office of the Fuhrer in the Allenstein, the two waited patiently for several minutes.
"It is five minutes past." Chief of State nodded.
"Signal our troops, then, General." General Bappen moved to the side table and picked up a telephone. It had only one function - transmit direct orders to the General Headquarters of Prussian Land Forces.
"Plan Dolch! Ich wiederhole, beginnen Plan Dolch!
" Chief of State Ulrich raised a glass of cognac in a toast and smiled to the darkness.
"Finally, Prussia can dance without its carnival mask on."
