You order peasants to be taxed harsher next year, and a war council to convene. You need territories and riches and subjects, and all this can be done with one thing - war!

807 AD, Spring

Shortly after new year, you receive great news from court healers - Milka is pregnant once more! Come Summer, the child should arrive upon this world.

The next day, the war council to debate the war with Kingdom of Gon begins. Your commanders, commanding nobles and courtiers gathered, with Marshal taking a special, central place. He is obviously enjoying the attention.

"My liege! We must determine the plan for the war and its objectives!" The council murmurs in plain agreement. "Shall we fight with tooth and nail, or shall we show restraint? Should we march forth now or spend a season for preparing and gathering of soldiers and supplies? And moreover, are we taking the entirety of Gon lands or shall we fight for some piece of it?"

As for the preparations for the war...

A) "If we spend time preparing, they will learn that something's up in the air, and we can't let them! We march as soon as possible!"
B) "Better supplied and prepared army means better combat efficiency! We shall prepare until Summer!"

As for the goal of the war and general conduct...

A) "We take all that can be taken and burn down the rest!"
B) "We loot and burn some, but wealthy cities and the silver mines should be spared!"
C) "No looting and pillaging! Our targets are stricly military and leadership of the Gons!"

As for the territories...

A) "We need to secure a border province or two."
B) "We need to secure as much land as it takes to directly control the silver mines in the south of Kingdom of Gon."
C) "We will absorb the entirety of the Kingdom of Gon into our lands, even if it will require crushing every Gon man who stands in our way!"

//Multiple votes means no splits please!

You order the money fetched to the dwarves.

Few hours later, the wagons laden with treasures and money and gold bullion leave with the bearded craftsmasters.

806 AD, Few days later

Trumpets and flutes sound in the air! The King's tourney is taking place!

Despite the prowess of the champions and squires who entered combat, the crowds that gathered were surprisingly small. Perhaps the trauma of the last one still lingers in the air?

The fighters had their battles and the peasants who did visit to spectate had their fun.

Some of your courtiers grumble however, thinking that such an event should've been a bit more glamorous and pompous.

"A cave-in??" The manager bows his bandaged head.

"Aye, my liege. We were digging out a vein of gold when there was a terrible rumble thorough the mountain. Several upper tunnels suddenly collapsed, and rubble came falling down. We've lost many experienced miners and several cartloads of gold ore that was awaiting to be pulled out. In situation such dire as this, I come personally requesting aid of the Crown, to gain resources needed to hire new miners and maybe even prospect the mountain some more. Otherwise, it might take the next year to restart our mining operations."

You shake your head and send the manager back. You have no money.

806 AD, End of the Year

You tap your desk, eyeing the Scrolls of Kingdom Status while the Advisor is pacing around.

Happiness: 6
Population: 3
Economy: 0!
Army: 6

The Treasurer is moaning in despair behind the door.

"My liege, with the mines not operational and Cartel of Golden Arms not exactly a stable source of income, our Treasury is currently empty." The Advisor states the obvious as you grit your teeth.

"Your subjects are quite happy and the army is quite strong. Perhaps we need some drastic measure to fill our vaults with money again?" That's when the Marshal steps inside, cape fluttering dramatically behind him. After him steps the Spymaster, almost noiselessly.

"My liege! I have received news that a kingdom to the west is currently weak and has an incompetent ruler, but is known for its wealth of gemstones." The Marshal says, and the Spymaster nods eagerly. "How about a raid to plunder their riches?"

As for dramatic measures within the Kingdom...

A) "Dismiss some mercenaries and raise taxes!"
B) "Tax the peasants harder this year!"
C) "Dismiss some mercenaries!"

As for dramatic measures involving the foreign lands...

A) "Why stop at raiding? Lets us conquer that land, and add its people and riches to Bailemarr's account!!"
B) "Nay! We need the Army within our Kingdom!"
C) "Splendid idea! Prepare your raiders and pillagers, good Marshal, the soldiers of Bailemarr shall go for a raid!"

//This is a double-vote. Singular votes or votes split over two posts will be dismissed.

Y'all should try the bad idea. It can lead to many moments of !!fun!! as evidenced by those two times in other games it happened :P

"Create this artifact for me, and I shall pay you when it is finished!"

"So it shall be done." The dwarven leader says and bows his head. A contract is written between you and the dwarves, in two identical copies - one scroll ends in the Advisor's hands, and the other in hands of the dwarven leader.

"We shall now depart for hundred days into deepest pit of your castle, and toil there until our work is done." The leave the audience hall. A while later the guards report that the dwarves have moved to one of deepest dungeon cells with no window to provide light.

Creepy chanting and metallic noises come occassionaly from the cell, they say.

806 AD, Autumn

After exactly hundred days of hammering, chanting, clanking and whispering, the dwarves arrive. Their leader has in his hands an intricate chain of golden rings, tied together with a silver thread waving between the holes. Tiny flakes of gemstones adorn the largest of the chain links, which was elongated into a rectangular shape. Your courtiers gasp and murmur in awe, as the sunlight seems to make the gold and gems glitter with extra shine.

"This is the work of our hands and beards. It shall protect you from projectiles that your enemies might hurl at you." He passes the amulet to the Advisor, who then hands it to you. Despite the thing made of gold and gemstones, it weights as little as a leather strap! How is this possible?

"Our work has been finished. Now we ask that we be compensated for our craftsdwarfship, king Velarien of Bailemarr."

A) "Treasurer! Money for the dwarves!!"
B) "You know what, I've changed my mind. Guards, get rid of these smelly creatures at once!"

"What kind of payment we're talking about?" The dwarven leader bows his head.

"Your wealth of your Treasury, of course. We have already prepared a satisfactory price for our services and rendered it upon this scroll." He hands the scroll to the Treasurer who reads it, with the Advisor looking over his shoulder.

"My liege! This will leave our Treasury empty! At least until gold from the mines arrives..."

"If you're unwilling to pay today, we can agree on a contract to come collect from your descendants or successors 40 years from now." Says the dwarven leader a moment later.

A) "Fine then! Make me an artifact and in 40 years, you shall have your gold."
B) "Preposterous! I will never pay such a price, leave now!"
C) "Make me an artifact and I will pay you after you're done, no need to wait!"
D) "Such a harsh price is good to me, but I would like something else than the amulet you proposed."

1768
I love this so so much.

How is Geno so hot!?

1769
You grant the dwarves an audience.

They're hairy, smelly, and wear thick cloaks and coats of green, brown, and black dyes. Their leader wears a simple amulet on his neck, shaped akin to a hammer.

"Greetings, king of humans. We, the dwarves of Akostlibash in far east, have heard of the richness of this plain, and thus came to offer our services. We heard the histories of your deeds and we know that you are a man of persuasion and speech, and that your land is void of violence. For the latter one should be always prepared. A king leads in the field his armies, so we think that an amulet that turns arrows and javelins with ill intent away from your body would be good for you, yes?"

A) "An amulet that deflects arrows? I need no such thing, begone!"
B) "What kind of payment for your services we're talking about?"
C) "Sounds nice! Make me such an amulet and I will reward you accordingly!"
D) "I don't need such an item. Can't you make me something else?"

1770
You decide to sponsor the tourney!

After some planning, the date was set for Autumn, to coincide with the usual harvest-time festivities.

806 AD, Summer

The Cartel of Golden Arms have brought gold to the Treasury.

A few days later, the guards arrive at the throne hall, clearly in rush.

"Your Majesty! The dwarves have arrived! They've heard of your kingdom's wealth, and are willing to exchange their craftdwarfship for it."

A) "I need no stinky earth-burrowers in here! Turn them away."
B) "Aw yeah I will have a dwarven artifact! My splendor groweth!!"
