You once again send word that Bailemarrian army would welcome mercenaries and is paying well.

With great excitement the news traverse the palace and beyond - Milka has given birth to twins!

They're both boys, and, in her usual way, your wife named them after famous Pantheonist twins - Saint Hour and Saint Fray.

806 AD, Mid-Spring

The weather is splendid, the people happy, and the army full of bright and skilled soldiers and mercenaries.

"How about a tourney, sire?" Says one of your courtiers, and curious eyes turn to him. "There haven't been a tourney since the Blood Feud hosted by the tyrant sixteen years ago. It would do nice to prestige of our nobles and soldiers alike to host something that is judged fairly and well."

A) "Splendid idea! Send the messengers across the Kingdom - the King of Bailemarr will host a tourney!"
B) "There are better ways to spend the money."

"No money, no priviledges! I want results next year!" The members of the Cartel grumble while leaving.

805 AD, Winter

Gold from the mines arrived on schedule.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

"The people and the army are happy, while our Treasury is still full of money! Shall we spend it on getting more soldiers? Or perhaps we could reward your hardworking subjects with some festivals this year?"

A) "Party time!"
B) "Army time!"
C) "Savings time!!"

It's fine as is. Leave it here unless someone else complains about it.

There's no other place to post DF-based stories anyway. There is Creative Projects, but that's for stuff unrelated to Dwarf Fortress.

1776
You did, but flazeo forfeit, and nobody called in to play :P

1777
Well, I guess we can agree that this game ends in a draw. Or victory for piratejoe by default :P

LET US HAVE GAME 3!

I haven't thought of any new mechanics or thingies but I'm slowly tinkering with a concept of 'inventions', permament bonuses to your bonuses that can be bought by spending enough Resources on them, with the cost scaling or stacking. Plus I wanna make the Sea somewhat more interesting so maybe offshore colonization with secret spices and jewels to be found? Who knows.

Feel free to toss your Racial Sheets in here now.

"Perhaps they need a new home? Send a group of educated men to parley with them." The messenger leaves, his head bowed.

805 AD, Autumn

Milka is with child again! The healers believe that she should give birth sometime after the new year begins.

Great news come from the southlands - the wandering goat-herders were convinced to stay, and have been settled across four villages and the city of Cumhre. They've brought their wealth of livestock with them, along as a curious religion about worshipping a divine shepherd and protector of all living beings.

805 AD, Mid-Autumn

The envoys of the Cartel of Golden Arms bow their heads, adorned with gold-trimmed pointy hats.

"I was wondering when you would show up," you say. "The money I was promised is a whole season late!" The leader of the group smiles and takes his hat off.

"My liege! This is due to competition from small-time goldworkers as well as some well-established foreign merchants. Our profits have been scarce, and our expenses great. We would like to ask Your Majesty for a donation." Another of the Cartel members steps forward.

"Of course we understand if the royal Treasury has fallen on hard times as well, so instead of gold, we would like Your Majesty to sign some documents allowing us to better compete with foreigners and other guilds."

A) "No money, no priviledges. You better try harder next year!"
B) "I will look at the documents and sign them, if that's what you want."
C) "Outrageous! Bring me the money you owe, or I will deal with you accordingly!"
D) "Fine, I can give you some money if it comes back with a profit."

You send word that Kingdom of Bailemarr is looking for mercenaries to join the army - in exchange for some good coin, of course!

805 AD, Summer

"Goat-herders?" The messenger bows his head.

"Yes, my lord. Several tribes of them, perhaps a two thousand of them, have begun grazing their livestock upon our southeastern grasslands. They speak very little of our language and are clads in furs and fleece rather than fiber and leather. They wear their homes on their backs, and place their tents down for the night so they and their goats can sleep. While majority of them are avoiding our settlements and farmlands, some youth were caught trying to steal potfruits and earlyberries from the outlying orchards. On behalf of the mayors of your southern domain, I come asking what should we do with these nomadic strangers invading our lands in such a cautious fashion."

A) "Some thieving marauders, these are! The southern mayors are allowed to deal with them accordingly!"
B) "Let them be, they seem to be just passing by."
C) "Mayhaps they search for a new home? Have a party of educated men meet with these nomads."

1781
Fix'd.

1782
You order money to spent on procuring grain.

The officials in charge of this are ordered to spend the money frugally, though.

804 AD, Mid-Autumn

Through shrewd management and cooperation of the grain merchants (either willingly or in fear of repeat of last time - who knows), there's plentitude of foodstuffs procured for the central provinces! The people praise your leadership, and the merchants are satisfied with the payments they've got.

804 AD, Winter

Milka gives birth to a healthy baby boy!

After some deliberation, she names him 'Nogad', after one of early saints of the Pantheon and god of trees and herbs.

On the same day Nogad is born, the wagonloads of gold bullion arrive from the mines.

804 AD, End of the Year

When the Advisor comes into your study, you rub your chin thoughtfully. This year came and went so fast!

Happiness: 5
Population: 3
Economy: 7
Army: 4

"Our Kingdom is doing splendidly well in the recent years, all things considered." The Advisor smiles. "The Marshal has noted that we're giving priority to merchants and the peasantry, while the army is being pushed to the margin. He clamors for more soldiers, my liege."

A) "Happy peasants are docile peasants. Draft some of them!"
B) "We have more than enough money to hire some mercenaries into army service!"
C) "Draft some peasants, hire some mercenaries too! Army of Bailemarr will be as big as those of bigger, wealthier kingdoms!"
D) "I like it how it is."

1783
You sponsor some festivals.

804 AD, Spring

Fifth year of your rule begins. You feel warm and fuzzy inside.

804 AD, Summer

Your wife is pregnant again! The healers believe that your third child should let out its first cry in Winter.

804 AD, Midsummer

The Treasurer happily announces that the Cartel of Golden Arms have brought money as part of the deal you've struck with them.

804 AD, Autumn

The first half of the year was quite quiet and pleasantly peaceful.

But the last week's storms and hail promised trouble afterwards, and here it is - the peoples of the central provinces have suffered much. The goldenstalk, which was about to be harvested, was utterly destroyed by the ice balls the size of a fist.

"Many households will have nothing to sell at the market, not to mention nothing to store for the coming winter, my liege." The Advisor says after another bunch of messengers leaves. "We ought to procure foodstuffs for the peasantry!"

A) "We have the money, we can feed the people. Make sure not to overspend, though."
B) "We have so much money, we can afford even harsh pricing! We must have grain by any means!"
C) "I like how you said 'procure' instead of 'buy'. Have some grain merchants hassled up for free grain!"
D) "But I already spent on the peasantry at start of the year??"

You invite the swordsmaster into the castle with the purpose of hiring him to train your officers and soldiers.

"Finally, a humble listener who knows what to expect of me!" Vingirius says, looking quite happy. He is then introduced to your officers and captains. The highly-prized western style of combat is ought to give your forces an edge with the local armies and tribes of the south and east.

803 AD, Winter

Gold arrives from the mines on schedule!

803 AD, End of the Year

It's that time of the year, again!

"Albeit the giant was slain and the city of Blabh ultimately survived, many feel a bit sour about the whole affair." Says the Advisor, stroking his beard. "The Treasury has been doing quite well recently, so perhaps we could spend money on some festivals and feasts for the populace next year?"

A) "Splendid idea! May the festivities commence!"
B) "I would rather keep my money in my treasury, thank you muchly."
