Someone from squidgen's team post for him.

I'm a crazy man, hallelujah~

Welcome to Noble Emblem 4, a series of games which will serve as 'Beginner's' game of the FEF games.

FEF means 'Fire Emblem on Forums' and is a forum game that bases its rules, classes and general 'feel' on the Fire Emblem series, a fairly popular franchise of tactical RPGs hailing from Japan. The series (and FEFs as well) are characterized by lengthy plot, much character development and quite high difficulty.

Noble Emblem introduces several changes that will allow new players - who had little knowledge of Fire Emblem or never played it - to get themselves accustomed to the difficulty and complexity of the game in slow, not-so-murderous way.

Useful links for new players:

Example character sheet
Player's Handbook 1.20 (sendspace.com)

4th Noble Emblem links:

IC Thread here!
Lore of the World
Map of the Domes

Furthermore, all Terrain, Class, Character and other specifications are exact as in FEF2.
In addition to the above, this small changes and clarifications apply as well in NEF4:

Recruitment:

For NEF4, there are 7 player slots: NPC Leader's guards (2) and Vagabonds (5)

The NPC Leader's guards slots are reserved for an FEF Veterans, a person who I know that is actively taking part in one or few Fire Emblem on Forums' games. These people will provide guidance to the newbie players, from character creation to tactical help and everything in-between.

Vagabonds slots are reserved for newbies, who travel together in search for oddjobs to do in exchange for bed, food and meager payment. It's hard to define a newbie, but if I saw you in my FEF or some other FEFs, chances are you're not really a newbie anymore :P You can join as veteran, if you feel you're experienced enough!

The two groups, veterans and newbies, are completely unknown to each other until deus ex machina aka Prologue chapter.

NEF vs FEF:

Compared to FEF, Noble Emblem is shorter, linear and easier than FEF and other-player incarnations of the game.
NEF Characters start as lvl1, First Class, with Iron-grade weapon and one Vulnerary (3/3).
NEF4 will consist of Prologue, 2-3 Chapters and Final Chapter.

Cast of Characters:

Main Character:
1. Prince Alec Francis Vashean, Shaman (NPC!)
Prince's Guards: (FEF Veterans)
2. Wyvar Bransen, Archer (Furtuka)
3. Edgar Dumond, Cavalier (Solymr)
Otherwise Traveling Vagabonds of Minimal Fame: (newbies)
4. Kenna Roadhome, Dancer (GiglameshDespair)
5. Remie Maelle, Myrmidon (Remalle)
6. Iollan McCrae, Priest (Lucus Casius)

After Jorund began to fill the hole, Eleonore sighed, her breath trembling.

"I just want to thank him. Besides, if he say he was disinherited then I doubt he would be friend of the Baron... whatever his name was. Still, where are they?"

With a groan of pain and teeth flying out of his shattered mouth, the swordsman smashed against the dirt road as the heavy-set horseman laughed.

"Ha ha hah, come at me, hired mongrels! Yeh will end just like your friend there!" The bearded man swung the flail menacingly as the assasins prepared to swarm him.

@Janus:

It was, as one could assume, the journal of the blue-haired captain, from the times when apparently she and her crew were very much alive. She numbered her entries but there was no indication of particular dates. Entries were of various kinds, from her personal observations to boasts on successful raids and complaints of hangovers the morning after party.

Everything changed in their latest raid, which was mentioned in fifth entry before the journal ended abruptly, and the four entries after it weren't any good - with the last scribbled hastily...

Besides the numerous coffers filled with precious metals and beautiful fabrics, we got some jewellery off the passengers. The mage that mumbled something at us as he died, he had this strange amulet which I have taken for myself. Is beautiful, and I'm pretty sure these tear-shaped jewels are rubies. First time I see gemstones that big.

193.
Roger went mad and stabbed Johann. He kept screaming about his nightmares. He jumped off the ship and we couldn't get him out before he drowned.
PS: Roch just came in and told me that Johann died from blood loss, the wound refused to close even with all the medicine we had stashed in the hold.

194.
More people mad. I locked myself in my room and I'm wondering if the amulet is for blame. I started to feel dizzy by simply being near it, not to mention wearing it. I've hidden it in safe place far from quarters.

195.
Screams everywhere, my hands are turning green. This amulet is cursed, the entire ship is cursed. We tossed supplies overboard but even the fresh fish we catch burn our insides and tastes like rotten meat. Some killed themselves, some jumped into the sea. I hear fighting.
I need to lie down, my stomach is burning like hell.
PS: I vomited blood, I think I'm done for.

196.
i think i heard someone saying that johann crawled back onto the deck from the sea this is terryfying
im pretty sure that the amulet ive taken is cursed or maybe the mage cursed it i don't know
whomever finds this journal should heed this warning
do not eat or drink anything from our hold do not touch the cargo and leave immediatelly do not search for amulet
best thing you could do is burn our ship before the curse gets you as well hopefully in the sea depth amulet curse never anyone more

Upon the urging of commander Klaus, the Yerusaleans cooled down and began to fight with survival and defense at mind, giving up

Lord Nathan Bladeheart didn't listen and attacked Crossy McCann; but the crossbowman decided not to wait and jumped at the nobleman. The little dagger of Palatinean marksman swished in the air as Lord Nathan Bladeheart ducked and blocked the small blade.

With imminent danger passing, Crossy McCann began to struggle with his crossbow, loading it once more with death-dealing projectile.

Drake Knight then feebly attacked Klaus; the commander was however adhering to his own orders and without much problem he managed to escape the wrath of draconian person.

Alas! The second drake-man then attacked from the side! Even with the defensive tactics employed, Klaus couldn't stand against the fury of Dragon McPillagePants; the axe of the Palatinean struck Kluas in the side, cutting deep even through his fine chainmail.

*swish!* went an arrow loosed by The Secret of Harvey Lee Flophouse as it went past Le Draco's left ear.

Le Draco paid it little attention however; he was busy attacking Urist the Crappy. It looked as if the armored man was a fortress invicible to Le draco's spear, but! The draconian quickly noticed a weak spot and stabbed with his blade, drawing some of Uristy McCrappy's blood.

In the meanwhile, Dorai went after Crossy McCann. And finally, the luck and strength have abandoned the crossbowman! Dorai's blade struck deep into the Palatinean's chest, piercing the heart and one of the lungs. Choking on own blood, Crossy McCann fell onto his back, dropping the crossbow, and died within next few seconds.

Vaseraeon then tried to kill the other marksman nearby; the halberd struck The Secret of Lee Harvey Flophouse in the bottom, the spike penetrating the chainmail that protected the marksman's soft buttocks!

Urist the Crappy then decided to get rid of Lord Nathan Bladeheart who spent on this battlefield too long for fate's liking. However, at first it looked as if Lord Nathan Bladeheart, with defense at mind and big shield at hand, was going to avoid the armored enemy. But with a *CLONK!* everyone learned otherwise, the spiky ball smashing into Lord Nathan Bladeheart's helmet, letting him see some pretty stars in front of him.
