As you might've expected from the inactivity on my side, something happened. Namely...

We're on hold v;

I am not dropping the game; however, the story I have planned is not glueing itself to current in-game situation so I need to redo what I have planned for the second part of it. There will be quite possibly a timeskip involved, a la FEF1 where there were promotions, free supports and background plot shenanigans happening.

I will need few weeks to get ready to deploy that, so please bear with me a little more.

You tear off your shirt, and the youth does too, and the sunlight shines on your manly, toned torsos, causing few ladies in attendance - and few male courtiers - to gasp in awe.

The duel is uneventful and ends when you bypass Lozer's defenses and stab him in the head.

The people that had gathered at the council gasp in awe louder than before and murmur to each other as the guards, mumbling apologies, drag the bleeding corpse outside.

You sit back down and the council continues... and it dawns on you that it would be a little more exciting if you managed to draw the duel a bit longer.

Oh, well.

805 NWE, Autumn

Who is gonna be a proud father (again)? You are!

As it turns out, Hege hasn't been gaining weight, but yet another child is growing inside her womb, the healers confirm.

805 NWE, Winter

Sitting by Duk's bed, you place your hand on his forehead. Its so hot you could swear it's burning your hand.

"This is a strange illness that our healers aren't skilled in dealing with, my liege." The Advisor explains quietly; Hege weeps quietly at the other side of the bed.

"There are few men of medicine and thaumaturgy that live in the city, but they value their skills greatly, so perhaps your Majesty should instead turn to the divine and pray that they deliver Duk from this sickness..."

A) "Get me those healers, money is not a problem when my boy's life is at stake!"
B) "I shall go to the wild altars of the Old Gods outside the city and sacrifice an animal to appease them!"
C) "I must visit the Temple of New Church and pray to the One amongst the mist and smoke of incense!"

You order part of the army to be sent home and their equipment sold or melt down.

805 NWE, Spring

During one of those boring, but important, admnistrative councils, suddenly the sunlight is blocked by some shadow - and then a young man swings into the room through the window!

Landing on one of the guards and knocking them out, he draws his sword and point it at you.

"Vile usurper! Tis I, Lozer, son of previous King, Sukar! I shall fight you for my rightful place on the throne of Kingdom of Rug! Have at thee!"

You decide to...

A) Tear off your shirt and settle the things in manly one-on-one combat.
B) Stop this pathetic charade and call the guards to seize the youth.
C) Offer to listen to his arguments if he believes himself the rightful King of Rug.

Your order the silver to be mined. The Treasurer leaves, taking several of courtiers to begin planning of this investment.

There's an incident regarding your tax collectors - some peasants in the southlands have been attacked on the road.

Few of them were killed, but the road guards in the region have quickly caught those responsible and sentenced them to dungeon, and larger and more frequent patrols were ordered by noblemen in the area. Can't have them peasants rebelling, after all.

804 NWE, End of the Year

The Advisor enters your bedchamber, placing the Scrolls of Kingdom Status into your lap.

Happiness: 2
Population: 6
Economy: 2
Army: 4

"My liege, our economy is in shambles and there are rumors of your loyal courtiers being assaulted on the less-traveled roads. While the silver mining will surely bring profits, it is the anger of the peasantry that is the greatest concern right now."

"Any ideas?"

"We let go a part of the Army, my liege. Not only we will scrounge some coin from that, the families of the now-free soldiers will definitely enjoy seeing their brothers and fathers again. Two goblins with one stone, some would say."

A) "Fine! Dismiss a small part of the royal army!"
B) "No! We will persevere!"

You write the noblemen a letter which is then copied and distributed to the nobles who helped Kingdom of Rug in its times of economic needs.

804 NWE, Autumn

A baby is born in the family of Bubba, King of Rug!

That baby is a boy, and your dearest wife and queen has decided to name him 'Moggu', after a giant-slaying hero of old and popular character from bard's songs.

Great news come from the southern mountains!

The prospectors sent there finished their work; there's plenty of silver and iron ores to be found there, and while the excavations will be hard and a lenghty process, the specialists determine that there might be as much as 20 or maybe even 25 years of silver worth in the mountains.

Of course, barring some deposits being located even deeper.

The courtiers murmur and nod to each other as the Treasurer speaks up.

"My liege, we must not let up such an opportunity! We ought to hire miners and buy supplies and begin turning the ore into coin!"

A) "No! We need money on other things right now."
B) "You don't have to tell me twice, good Treasurer! We gonna be rich!"

You order some prospectors sent - under guard of course - to the mountains to better examine the ore deposits.

804 NWE, Mid-Spring

You kneel in front of your wife and place a kiss on her belly - which is swelling again, your healers having determined that Hege is pregnant again.

Little Duk will have a sibling by end of the summer-or-thereabouts, and you couldn't be happier.

804 NWE, Summer

"A delegation of noblemen?"

"Yes, my liege." The Advisor strokes his beard. "Some of the richer and 'philanthropic' nobles under your rule have banded together and offered some cash for the Treasury."

"What's the catch?" You ask, doubtful.

"There's none, your Majesty."

A) *do a scheming pose* "There's always a catch. Reject the money! We will make do, somehow, without their coin."
B) "Well, you don't look a gifted horse in the teeth, or something of that sentiment. I will even send them a letter of thanks!"

You raise the taxes for peasants in the coming year.

Soldiers sent south send great news! The criminal settlements were easily overwhelmed and sacked, and a great many of the thugs were slain whilst the rest fled further into the mountains.

Unfortunately, the Marshal reports that the apparent 'silver and iron' riches of the illegal settlements were quite poor, and the precious nuggets and smelted bars amounted to 'less than half a wagonload', according the Marshal's accountants and quartermasters.

The Treasurer looks rather dejected at the news.

"Maybe they didn't dig deep enough?"

A) (Economy rating too low)
B) "Send a prospector or two first. No need to rush for something that might not even be there."
C) "Then the matter of 'mountain silver' is closed."

You announce that the Army is going to liberate the mountains from the criminal miners!

The Marshal grumbles something about not being a 'glorified road guard' but wanders off to command the forces.

803 NWE, End of the Year

"My liege! It's that time of the year, aren't we thrrrilled?" Asks the Advisor after bursting in on your afternoon nap.

Happiness: 3
Population: 6
Economy: 1
Army: 4

"What is this??" You point at the red number.

"This is the state of our Treasury after helping with the floods, burning down the fields and buying ample foodstuffs for the affected people." The Advisor calmly explains, stroking his beard. "Generosity is expensive these days, my liege."

"How do we fix that?"

"Well." The Advisor thinks about the problem for a while. "We could disband part of the Army and sell their equipment and appropriate their future wages, or we could tax the peasants a bit higher next year, but the former won't sit well with the soldiers and the later won't sit well with the peasants, of course."

A) "We will manage, somehow."
B) "Tax the peasants!"
C) "Disband some troops!"

You order to burn down all the affected fields and those nearby to make sure there will be no issues later on.

803 NWE, Mid-Autumn

You receive information that the affected fields are being burnt down, and it will cost the Treasury a lot.

803 NWE, Winter

Terrible news reach the royal palace!

Apparently, the envoys send to the mountain vagrants have never returned from the mountain range, and several travelers from that area are spreading rumors that your messengers were killed by the mountain bandits.

"Obviously, the criminals want nothing but blood of your subjects and wealth of your mountains, my liege." Says the Advisor when he learns of this.

A) "That's it! Our forces shall march into the mountains and leave no rock upturned! The criminals must die!"
B) "That's it! Countess Dessa must send her forces to deal with the mountain-dwelling criminal scum at once!
C) "It is more than a clear sign that we should not impose our will on those free-dwellers of the mountains!"

You send envoys to the mountain 'rebels', if they can be called that.

803 NWE, Autumn

"Footlings?"

"Yes, your Majesty" The Advisor bows his head. "They've begun popping up from the soil in the northwestern province. These tiny half-foot humans are disturbing the crops, which, so close to the harvest, might damage the food stockpiles of the Kingdom. Their pods are usually burnt out during Spring times, when they can be easily spotted and most seeds are not yet planted."

"How do we deal with this?"

"We purge the soil by burning it."

"Which will destroy the crops just as good as the emerging footlings' will."

"It might be just like that, my liege. The question is whether we believe in luck that the Footling infestation won't destroy too many farmland, or we just burn all the affected crops and those adjacent to them, and buy foodstuffs for affected families for the coming winter." The Advisor bows his head. "The Treasurer have heard of the affair and is already setting aside funds..."

A) "We cannot let fate decide how many crops are going to be destroyed. Burn all the affected fields, and the Treasurer shall repay the hungry families!"
B) "Maybe the infestation isn't that large. We ought to wait and pray that it is so!"
C) "Setting aside funds? Did I order such a thing? No, because peasants' fields are their responsibility. If they've not cared for their fields well enough during Spring, then it's their fault for facing starvation!"
