You decide to fight to the best of your abilities!

Quote
3*

The giant enemy is definitely not the kind of foe you're used to fight, but your smarts and fighting prowess help offset his size and that nasty club he is wielding - for only a brief moment of time.

Quote
5*

You stab him in the gut to force him to kneel, and then seize the opportunity and deliver the killing blow through his left eye!

Few of your surviving elites help you back on the horse, and you return to the commanding of the army, which is in disarray. You spot a ray of hope - namely, there is no more than twenty of the brutes still fightining!

Quote
5*

Your victory in the duel and your return on the horse seems to have changed the will of the gods of fortune, who now favor your forces. The battle quickly turns into a mop-up; the Fomorians are quickly flanked and one-by-one taken down with arrows, spears and stabs!

The Fomorian settlement is burnt down, captives released, and Fomorian children and infants who were hidden inside the primitive hovels slaughtered, their blood running thick amongst the ruins of the fort.

Later that evening, some distance from the battlefield, the priests of Old Gods and New God perform rites of burial and rememberance for the fallen soldiers. Your officers, alongside the Marshal, come to party with you and drink the sorrows away. It is during that little party that some younger soldiers fetch into your tent a quite huge red gemstone - a ruby, it seems - about the size of your head.

"The iron crownlet the Fomorian chief wore is of shoddy quality and will be melted down," says the Marshal, "But look upon this beauty, your Majesty! This gem must be a spoil of their earlier rampages, because I dare say the brutes can't shape precious stones like this! What do we do with it, your Majesty?"

A) "Shatter it! Cut it down to shards and give each surviving soldier a piece. Not even hundred coins of payment can measure with a shard of such magnificence and brightness, no?"
B) "Pack it up on the wagons and get it back home! I will decide during a council what to do best with this beautiful gem!"

You quickly call in horsemen from flanks and some spearmen, for good measure, as well.

This lets you continue the battle without getting overwhelmed!

Quote
2*

Unfortunately, the wave of Fomorians is steady. Horsemen fall, spearmen fall, and a thrown rock swipes the horse from underneath your seat.

Lifting yourself up from the ground, you see a Fomorian approaching you, his club up in the air and several arrows sticking from his body. He ain't gonna survive it.

The problem at the moment is now ensuring you outlive him, too...

A) CHAAARGE!
B) Run away!
C) Fight smart, live long, and prosper!

You order the archers to pepper the ogre lord with arrows!

A rain of arrows is delivered onto the mailed giant, who shouts and yells as arrows stick into his hairy body. It takes a while to start wobbling and fall down, blood leaking out from many, many holes.

Quote
1

This sends the Fomorians into frenzy and they rush out of the encampment, tossing stones, logs, clubs, boulders, animals, dung, skulls and other items at your soldiers! This bestial fury unleashed causes your men to waver and flee the frontline!

Quote
4*

Whoever ends up being the 'first line' to hold against Fomorian change is simply torn apart or flung into air. The brutes whack and stomp anyone they can find their hands on, and even those with several arrows in their bodies continue charging.

However, the momentum of the charge quickly dies down and your soldiers get their bearings together to fight properly. Corpses of Rugian soldiers continue to litter the ground excessively, however...

Quote
2*

A disaster!

A group of Fomorians smashes their way through the central line, and you can see the brutes appraoching your position!

In few moments' time, they will charge your mounted bodyguards, and considering the pieces of man and horse that are flung out of the brutes' path, facing elite, mounted soldiers isn't gonna be much of a difference for the Fomorians...

A) I must flee!
B) I must rouse my men to great courage with a speech!
C) I must charge into the combat to encourage my men!!
D) I must call in reinforcements from flanks!

You order the camp to be surrounded.

Of course as this happens, the sentries roar and several of them run back into the camp, no doubt to warn their brethren and inform their rulers, whoever they are.

Sure enough, a group of ten or so Fomorians rushed through the front gate. You lead the men to prepare to meet this 'tide' and instruct archers to thin-out the brutes.

Quote
6*

Before the Fomorians even get to the frontline of spears, there's less than five of them alive. The remainder easily gets themselves impaled, slashed and cut down.

The Fomorians who watched the 'battle' from the 'fortifications' cry, roar and yell at this, jumping and pounding the earthworks, before quickly hiding behind the barricades.

It takes a moment for a great number of them to show up at the earthworks again, their large eyes staring at your forces.

There's definitely more than a hundred of them, your officers comment, perhaps even as many as two hundred.

A Fomorian leader of sorts steps out from the gate. Wielding what could be best described a skull-helmet, a robe of metal chains, and a nasty looking hammer (about the size of your horse), he points at your forces.

Then he roars.

Then he roars again, his hammer high in the air.

"Perhaps this is a challenge, m'liege." The Marshal muses, looking only slightly uncomfortable at the size of the Fomorian up front.

A) "Then I shall go meet this brute and slay him in melee combat!!
B) "Nah, lets rush the Fomorians, because if they're issueing a challenge, they certainly feel melee combat with us!
C) "Ha! Fat chance! Archers, turn him into a pincushion!"

You announce the these brutes must be defeated in detail. Your officers agree wholeheartedly.

801 NWE, Mid-Autumn

Quote
7!*

It takes two weeks of work to deal with all the Fomorians. But every encampment, every ruined village, every forest glade, inhabited by these brutes, is eliminated. Young Fomorians found with the adults are dealt with swiftly, and soldiers and officers alike celebrate your tactics and leadership, giant corpses left behind in the path your Army has taken.

But those were camps of ten, fifteen, thirty, fifty Fomorians at the highest. Rarely armored and always with primitive clubs.

Now comes the hard part, for the Fomorian camp was found by scouts unlike any others. Crude barricades from young trees and rubble surround something that can be best described as 'large but crude hut', with captive pigs and horses kept in collars before they are slaughtered for meat or eaten alive by the brutes.

Your scouts report seeing sentries climbing on top of the rubble piles to watch the surroundings or examine those of their brutish brethren who come in and come out.

Some report seeing strange individuals with blue and red paint on their bodies, or a hulking Fomorian with a skull on his head and hammer in his hands, most definitely a leader.

Your scouts were unable to determine the number from afar, but they're pretty sure there must be at least a hundred of them or more, agitated and cautious.

The council of warrior gathers to consider how to best approach this obviously fortified heart of Fomorian army.

A) Send the horsemen and skirmishers to lure Fomorians out into field combat!
B) Besiege the camp, with slingers and archers ready to pick off any Fomorian that dares leave the camp!
C) Charge into the camp, kill the Fomorians in melee, and raze the camp to the grund!
