Asoth knelt beside his bleeding, mauled lieutenant.

"Olivier!"

"Uh... ambush.. bandits, sire. Lots of axemen..."

"Stop talking, Lady Eleonore can heal-"

"Urk! Long live... the Empire!"

Asoth stared at the corpse for a moment, then crossed his aide's hands on the bloodied chest.

"Bastards!" He mounted his horse and rode toward a small bridge, where pair of bandits were assaulting another of his soldiers.

Meanwhile...

Einar took Eleonore around the corner and the horse stopped near a corpse of another horse and Lieutenant Olivier. Asoth was in front of them, readying himself for combat.

"Oh no, no, first monsters and now bandits? These are truly bad times... Halldora, Colt, others, please - are you going hold a grudge toward grandchildren of our enemies and let these soldiers get killed? I ask you, come with me-" She slid from Einar's horse and landed on her two feet. "And help Prince Asoth!"

There was something they didn't know though... south of the stream, behind the trees...

"Hey, boss, there's sum soldiers attackin'! Are we gonna scram?"

"Oi, ya stupid git! We've got plenty of ax, and they're gunna have lances! Chop'em down and strip their bodies, armor's precious too, he he! Just gimme a wurd in case these gits up thar can't handle it!"

From the distance, there came a pitiful neighing of a horse but a scream of a man, and then some tumbling and thudding. Asoth immediatelly moved to the front of the group.

"Stay here, watch over the Princess!" He then sped off, and dissappeared around the corner of the road, trees obscuring him. Eleonore looked at his back while she could, then at the forest which became suddenly much more foreboding. Then she looked at her friends.

"Rivan or not, he is seemingly the only person around here willing to listen to our story. Please, Einar, after him! He might be getting himself in danger!"
