Prince Asoth took a deep breath and brushed some of his hair from his forehead.

"I'm glad we've settled on peaceful resolution of this... problem. Beasties? No, the gargoyles once lived in the mountains and Ancient Forest, but as we're struggling with Lodian threat and the aftershocks of the Imperial split and rogue separatists from the Badland border, we simply can't hunt and curb the monster populations. We don't have enough soldiers that's it."

Eleonore thought for a moment.

"Prince Asoth, I apologize for the behaviour of my people. We're in shock and didn't think straight." She bit on her lip, such apology didn't fit someone her status. "However I wish that your men stopped pointing weapons at our faces." Asoth looked at Eleonore, then at Colt, and waved his hand. The horsemen put their lances and bows to their sides.

"Thank you... and I think I will see those 'Archives' you said about. If there's any arcane or divine explanation for this entire situation, books might be of help. Or... or maybe I will rest for a moment first. There are inns in this, um... time period, right?"

"Yes. There's much more you have to know first... but we will escort you to the nearest city. I need, however, to ask you and your companions to declare what and how many weapons they're carrying. It's that or my lieutenant won't relent till we have your unarmed." The hothead cavalier at his side let out a mumble. Eleonore looked at Asoth, and then at her entourage.

"I have this mere healing staff, Prince Asoth." Eleonore explained obediently, turning her head toward Asoth again.

"How dare you speak to Prince in this-" The cavalier was silenced with Asoth's hand wave.

"I did offer our healer's help, mister hothead, but you instead replied with threats." Asoth spoke to Colt with angry tone of voice.

Eleonore stood up and shook her head.

"Thank you, Jorund. Important lady fine." The Princess smiled weakly.

"Colt, please calm down." She then looked around, at the walls and pillars of the ruins that once - apparently three centuries ago - were her home.

The cavaliers were now more confused than anyone else. Asoth rubbed his chin, thinking Einar's explanation over. It took him few seconds.

"It's true that Ashath the Dragonslayer married Eferian princess in exchange for a promise that his father would be lenient to the populace... but I'm not sure about the name. We will escort you to nearest city with Archives, that would it be-"

Eleonore let out a sigh and seemingly regained counsciousness, placing hand on her forehead.

"Tell me it's just a dream..." She mumbled weakly as she lifted herself from Halldora's knee.

The horsemen with trained their lances and bows at Colt, but the Prince halted them with his hand.

"Please be reasonable. I don't believe that you're people from a country that isn't around anymore, not to mention that King Ashath passed away over two hundred fifty years ago, but why you're getting angry? I merely offered help in exchange for some information, because I'm getting as much confused as you are now."

The other horsemen however didn't put down their weapons and were ready to strike any moment Colt decides to do something rash.

"Sir, they're behaving strangely and are suspiciously dressed. I suggest we arrest them."

"That's a bit rushed, Olivier. They could be southerners. Are you people allright? If you have been poisoned or some other ailments are affecting you, my troubadours could heal you. Also, I'm still waiting for your names. I would also want to know where do you come from? The fainted lady looks like one of the priestesses from the Southern Empire. If that's true I will require your travel permit as well."

Cidney and Halldora rushed to score some mad hits on the beasties.

Hit roll: 23, hit!
Damage: 12-2 = 10dmg

Chieftain counters!

Hit: 107+15+5-12 = 115, autohit!
Damage: 10+1-3 = 8dmg

Then Einar shot at the Chieftain; the arrow hit right in the monster's head. With a pitiful gurgle, the mighty beast fell down.

Quote from: Einar vs Chieftain
Hit: 102+15+10-19 = 108, autohit!
Damage: 24-6 = 18dmg

The moment the largest of gargoyles fell down, the rest took into the air and flew away, screeching, squeaking and shrieking in terror and fear of the ones that felled their chieftain.

~~Prologue Complete!~~

The horse-stomping came closer. Suddenly, the pair of gargoyles that flew south from Jorund and O'Connor got pincushioned by many arrows!

Soon, an entire cavalry unit ran from around the corner, quickly forming a lengthy line. There was at least ten cavalries, five bowmen on horses, and two horsemen with healing staves. A horseman in cape and decorated armor rode from between the lined cavaliers and looked at Eleonore and her guards.

"Greetings! We have heard the Howl of the Hunt, but I see-" He glanced at the corpse of the gargoyle's leader. "That our intervention wasn't really necessary."

Eleonore stepped forth and looked at the mysterious cavalry leader. She seemingly took great notice of his armor. Then she looked at his face just in the same moment as he looked at her face.

There was a moment of silence as the two stared...

"Thank you kind sir, could you help us? We seem to be a little... lost. First of all, can I have your name?"

"You're speaking with Prince Asoth, praefect of the Western Territories, son of Emperor Horus the Third, ruler of the Northern Rivan Empire!" The horseman at Asoth's right spoke loudly - Eleonore blinked, her mind processing the wording of that introduction.

"Thank you Olivier but I could do it myself. Well, there's that. May I have your name, m'lady?"

"I... I would rather... could you tell us where we are? We have stepped of the road and... got lost..." Eleonore's face turned pale as she touched her head gently. She didn't look well.

"...You're strange one. But I guess I can tell you? These are ruins of Castle Eferia, a kingdom that my venerable ancestors conquered three hundred years ago and- M'lady!"

Eleonore fainted and collapsed to the floor.

Darnit Swordstar. If you'd killed a different Gargoyle, that'd have been nice. Gargoyle H was the only one I could reach. >.>

But you have 6 MOV and ranged weapon, you can easily reach A? v:

Oh just checked. Scavenger's that part of thief family that's lame and doesn't have 6MOV at start.

Your loss :P
