BEHOLD THE FABULOUSEST OF ALL!

23657
"I don't think we have time left for that." Irene grimaced. THere was some rustle as hooded people emerged from the woods, behind and in front of the mercenaries.

"Those aren't simple bandits..." The blonde lady spoke quietly to himself, her grimace only deepening.

Somewhere close...

"Great, the girl cannot escape us now. Remember, the blonde is as important as the letters she is carrying. Do whatever you can to stop her... I mean, er." He looked at the pink-haired guy nearby.

"I mean, the bad guys on the road are carrying dangerous papers, so, uh, I would be happy if you could dance and invigorate our guys, Candy." The spy master looked as the dancer pranced away.

"Why did we even... wait a moment. Adalbart?"

"Uh, what is it, Morse?"

"Didn't you say your father is dealing with certain kind of court 'boy' slaves and such?"

"Oh, yeah... but why are you-"

"It's nothing, really." Morse looked at Candy, who already was quite far away.

"Just thinking."

@Olison:

"I'm glad you remember me. When Derick was wandering with me and Joz and others, he mentioned you several times, but I was skeptic, I thought it was some other guy named Olison..." Matilda couldn't help but giggle a little.

"So, you're mercenary now?"

@Gregor:

"I see, I see... yes, we saw the mercenaries and the army fight... that was... it was more bloody than the fight you had. The mercenaries fought like lions, and I believe they slew a whole unit of mages. But in the end, they were killed, one by one. We were afraid to interfere, but what we could do with few pitchforks against a veteran army? And then, with all that pillaging... and that blonde scum! The things he had done, oh! They were such nice, young girls... Oh, I'm sorry. You need rest whilst all I'm doing is complaining to you. There's one house that's big enough to house even twenty people. I will arrange for the food and beds to be prepared. If you excuse me." The elder bowed his head and then moved away. Villagers began to slow clean the rubble, cover and take the corpses outside the village's walls.

23659
"Oh, you don't remember... then again, it's been ages." Matilda looked down for a moment, and then smiled to Olison.

"When you were still serving Ferwelk as a squire, almost a decade ago... Your unit had a pair of troubadours. The first one was a fat guy named Leon. The other was a girl, and she had her hair dyed black, but everyone in the unit knew that her real hair colour was dark blue."

23660
"Leo, tell Sara to go to the front and put the squishy mages between me and her. We're being followed, I believe - I've noticed only a moment ago. We might be ultimately getting in a fight, very, very quickly."

23661
"Yes, I believe our priest will be able to... fix the poison..." Suddenly, Irene slowed down and began to walk behind the group. Her body was more stiff and she clutched her lance more readily, her eyes glancing at the forest and bushes on the sides of the road.

23662
"I've told you just now. We will be moving through a region of poisonous swamps near the coast. I know that there are no Riemondian outposts there."

Woo, I'm happy that Tom didn't dissappoint me today :D

The journey continues. The group quickly moved from the farmlands to the thick, dense forests, resembling those in the Vinland region, where the walls of trees were so thick and tall that sometimes it was dark like at night under the leafy ceiling.

"After we get to the south-eastern perimeter, we will move off the road and approach Mireos through the Murkwaters. The residual, magical waste is said to be still there. Or, at least, the land is still dead. That keeps Riemondians from setting up border checkpoints there. We will slip into Mireos unnoticed."

23665
"I see... is that... is that Olison? Olison! You're alive! That's impossible, but you're alive!" Matilda quickly moved toward the wounded horseman.

"Tunhausen?" Oooh's and mumbling came from the mouths of the villagers. "That's quite far from here. Well we will prepare a feast for your men, you need rest and food, and you can't deny that!" The villagers dispersed as the old man took Gregor by hand and began to led him into the village.

"Now tell me young man," he started, letting out a hum. "What kind of mission or errand brings you here all the way from Tunhausen, of all the places? Or is it one of those secret missions for the King, hmm?"

Leo just covered his face with both hands and followed along idly wondering if this chick was a descendent of Chris.

Personally I see her as a mash-up of Chris, Charlotte and Gregor.

WHAT HATH SCIENCE DONE?

Five minutes have passed, and so did ten minutes, and fifteen, before the door opened and Irene left the gatehouse. As she moved close to her mercenaries, she realized something and quickly closed up the last button of her blouse.

"Allright. He never saw us passing through. Come." She turned toward the small iron gate, which yanked with a metallic crack and began to slide into the wall, the sounds of turning gears and moving chains clearly betraying how rusty they were.

23668
"Great. Just five minutes." Irene moved toward the gatehouse, but not to the small window in the middle of the passage under the arc - she went to the door leading inside the gatehouse. When the door opened, she let out a small giggle and said something to the guard. She was let in after a moment, and the door was shut.

23669
The mob fell onto the Meneleans and started the beating. After a short while, when the remaining Meneleans were beaten into submission and bleeding, but not dead, the villagers bound them and dragged them off. Some of the villagers remained, and and elderly man in blue robe and a yellow sash over his chest approached.

"I've told them - I kept saying that our Berebian soldiers will come to aid us, and I began to lose faith, but lo! Here they are! Glory to Berebia!"

"Glory! Glory to Berebian Army!" The villagers chanted along with the elder of the village, who then silenced his townsfolk and turned to Gregor, sighing rather happily.

"Now, now. I'm sorry for prying, but you're quite a strange unit, very peculiar mix of sorts! Tell me, are you stationed in Akuma or maybe Falzisch? Or, perchance, you're patrol from the Gunnermann fortress? I will certainly send a letter with thanks to your commander!"

23670
"Yes, let's go." That said, Irene disembarked from the boat with mercenaries in tow.

The blonde soldier lady took them through the smaller roads, alleys, the poorest districts of the city. They could see almost nude children playing in the mood, beggars and all kinds of impoverished folk. Irene, however, spared no coin for them - she was more concentrated on looking around at every window and alley they have passed.

Then, they got to one of the smaller gatehouses - the one that allowed people in and out, but was too narrow for wagons and too small for horsemen. She raised her hand, and then looked at the mercenaries, gritting her teeth.

"Okay, I will need five minutes. Can you wait here and not bring unwanted attention upon yourselves?"
