Arvis braced himself for the attack and tried to dodge, but Derick's shamsir struck him in the arm. The crossbowman cursed and shot Derick in the leg.

"Heh, you bleed like-wh-!" Arvis looked down at his stomach - the shamsir was deep in his body up to the hilt. Stunned, the blonde man stumbled backwards and fell onto the muddy dirt, gasping for air.

"You.. you wretched...! And... and what did you accomplish? You've got NOTHING! Your dear, dead friends will still... be dead! Hhghhk-! Arvis vomited up some blood, which splattered over his face, and went stiff, the shamsir still embedded in his corpse.

"Oh, shit!" The rest of Menelean soldiers began tossing their weapons away, their hands up.

"Mercy!" One of them cried. Suddenly, there was commotion behind their backs - a mob of villagers rushed toward Gregor, his friends, and leftover Meneleans. Armed with pitchforks, clubs and knives, and hatred in their eyes, they were closing in on the Menelean soldiers.

Current rates I'm using:

Hitting unpromoted enemy: 2exp
Killing unpromoted enemy: 3exp
Hitting promoted enemy: 3exp
Killing promoted enemy: 5exp
Staves: 5exp so far for all staves you have (applies to Call Magic versions of Heal staff too)
Killing a boss: 30exp
Missing/Receiving a wound without KO: 1exp

Fun fact: If my counting is correct, you already got one full level from healing alone in Ch.9B

"We will talk about it in Mireos. Not here." Irene stated and then looked at others.

"Nothing else, then?"

If you kill Arvis right now, you will be just 6 exp short of another level.

Arvis grimaced and... ran away toward the road.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot!" The blonde officer turned around and sent a bolt right into Derick's chest.

~~Allies Turn!~~

Matilda slid from Seyena's pegasus and fell onto the snow, but she raised herself, looking around in confusion.

"Uhh... oh, oh my, I must've been out for long. What am I doing here?" She held her book closely, staring at Gregor's companions.

In the meanwhile, Anja approached Derick and flushed the blue liquid onto his wound.

"So it's still a no." Captain Inara sighed and rubbed his head.

"I have told ya, lass. I won't risk my ship just to take your around to Mirr. The giant octopi, the wraiths of the Isle, the sudden storms and lack of ports to stop by for resupply. No, no, no, even if you would offer me ten times the normal price, I wouldn't do it. If you want me to get you to Mirr, we can go back to Setine, then Syra, and..."

"I see. That won't do... I won't bother you anymore, then - me and my friends will disembark here."

"Allright. I will have to deal with the captives, and that means I have to request assistance from the Imperial Chief of Naval Affairs here..."

"I cannot get involved with neither the Empire nor Riemondian guards. Please give us a moment so we can slip into the alleys and leave the city."

"Fine. You're nice lady and a decent customer - I beleive I can wait half an hour or so before bothering the authorities." The captain smiled as Irene moved toawrd the mercenaries, as the sailors prepared the ship to dock at the pier.

"I have to tell you that we will be leaving Riem immediatelly. It is a big, port city and with lots of shops, but I'm afraid I cannot afford sightseeing. If there's something important you need to buy or obtain some extra supplies, tell me while there's still chance. Oh right - hold onto this, Leo." With that, Irene pulled out a small purse out of her armor.

"That's the money Captain Inara gave back to me after we dealt with Leif, but I think it will be better if I just pay you guys extra."
