You retreat into your apartment and prepare to finish the dress. It is basically done, but it lacks decorations with white and golden thread, a pattern of flowers sprouting and climbing across the dress from the bottom to the top. The same was for the sleeves - Lady Ping really likes the decorations, even more than the actual clothes themselves.

Your tools are there and so is the dress, and you quickly find few bolts of rolled thread in one of the baskets under the table.

Minutes turn into hours as you work diligently on the red cloth, your fingers directing the needle that imprints the flowery design. If you could finish the dress today, you might even get a bonus reward for your speed - but then again, Lady Ping is the second wife of the district's tax collector, and she is known to be rather frugal with her savings...

You finished the bottom half and the left sleeve, and were ready to start on the remaining sleeve, when suddenly you heard some footsteps on the staircase outside and then, a knock on the door.

The expedition into Province #23 met fierce resistance and in result, it was quickly wiped out by the natives.

Humans destroyed!

Meanwhile, the neutral tribes of Province #29 had to fight two armies of Humans. Whilst the first attack was repelled and pink-bannermen were scattered, the next army easily conquered the land.

As you open the door leading outside your apartment, fresh morning air makes you remember everything clearly.

You are Li Wu, one of the craftsman caste, and the trade you learned since you were a child was clothesmaking. You cannot afford your own shop; instead, you have rented a stand at nearby market, which is one li south from your house.

You are well known in the neighbourhood as accomplished and rather wealthy clothier, dealing in linen and silk alike. You live in a two-story house; the top floor, with its three rooms, is all yours. The ground floor is occupied by the elderly couple of  pharmacists.

You look around from the staircase on the city around you, the tall wooden houses were built in neat, orderly rows along the streets. Chraftsmean and peasnts roam the streets, going about their business, as you see various peddlers advertising their merchandise.

And then you see them - the pair of bald monks in orange and brown clothes, walking down the streets. It's funny; you remember visiting the newly constructed 'White Horse Temple' at the city's outskirts to sate your curiosity about this new religion, 'Buddhism'. It's not more than five years since that temple was finished and the buddhist monks are almost everywhere by now. If not for the glorious Emperor Ming, they wouldn't be here.

You aren't particularily keen on those fancy religions, but you aren't very devout worshipper of ancestors either. After all, there so much work to do each day that you barely have time to visit the shrines.

You are sure you have something to do today; Lady Ping still needs her silken dress to be finished, and selling some linen clothes at the market wouldn't hurt; you managed to make quite a handful of them last week. Still, you have moved to the city just few months ago; there's still lots to see...

So what do you do now?

Those are your pins and needles, they rather easily reminds you of how many times, as a child, you have accidentally stabbed own fingers with those needles. But that was part of your childhood, when you were learning the trade of cloth-making.

And speaking of the times as a child...

What do you remember the most about your family house? Was it...

A: ...the beautiful plum tree growing in the middle of the garden?
B: ...amount of grandchildren - including you - that your proud grandparents had?
C: ...the tall and slender poplar tree growing above your family's ancestral shrine?
D: ...that both your father and his father were famous bowyers?
E: ...the stories of your grandmother, who claimed that her ancestors hail from the long-gone Zhou?

Ah, and let's not forget that you weren't an average child at all! You were known amongst your peers because...

A: ...you were very helpful, kind and friendly?
B: ...you could easily lift that pudgy Wei, son of the local blacksmith?
C: ...you had this lovely bronze dragon figurine that was some kind of family heirloom?
D: ...you were always quite elegant and gentle?
E: ...you were brave and daring in dealing with local bullies?

//This vote is special; not only you vote twice, but I need eight votes at least. This is possibly the last 'choice-rigged' vote in a while, from now on it will be mostly your suggestions :3
I also wonder if you will find out what's this vote about =P

Far East Man? Nothing over there in the far east but sea, endless sea. We're located in the middle of the world.

Hmm, good point there. However to keep it less confusing for the majority of the users, I will be using 'Far East' instead of 'Middle Land/Kingdom' :P
