You start reading some bartending stuff.

1234USY.2d/1m.0256h

Aha! There are non-SRC drinks served on SRC outposts!

Several brands of wine, brandy and other liquors are being sold bottled to customers. You obtain them from traveling merchants. 'Aldebaran Whiskey' is one of the most famous and popular liquors in this part of the galaxy.

1234USY.2d/1m.0306h

Apparently, Sucrosol is about 64% sweeter than when it was first introduced. This was accomplished by reducing water and ethanol content in the mix.

1234USY.2d/1m.0336h

You can't find any interesting topics on the SRCnet.

A) How's Mr.Clonker doing, I wonder?
B) Let's explore myself a bit.
C) Time to see if there are any bottled liquors stashed around the place!

You decide to keep the power routed through the secondaries for now - you've done enough 'repairs' in one day.

You return to the comms console and send out an update to the repair request, adding the primary conduit frying to the slowly growing list of issues that require to be fixed.

1234USY.2d/1m.0226h

Well... the request ticket has been updated, there's no communications from 'Most Fortunate Occurence' and their hailing frequencies are closed...

A) Read up some bartending trivia articles on the corporate network.
B) Check up on the other resident of the station, Mr.Fuel Pump Clonker.
C) Dedicate some time to self-discovery of your body and mind.

2523
You decide it is time to visit the family shrine.

By the next day, you, few courtiers, and of course an appropriately sized guard detail, ride forth to the tiny village of Umiar, where your grandparents lived, and where the ancestral shrine of your family is located.

Your distant aunt Habosa, the caretaker of the old home, welcomes you dearly.

Rattling about your cousins and uncles you've never seen, she presents to you the shrine. The sixty four ceramic figurines represent the thirty two pairings of your ancestors.

You donate a golden coin and a specially prepared roast of meat and fat and spice, as well as flatbread and salt. You thank the ancestors for giving you life and ask them to let the family continue - by the ways of making your wife Priscilla pregnant with your child.

Leaving the shrine, you feel oddly satified - but time will tell if prayers will be answered.

501 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor arrives, and he is less than pleased.

Once you glance at the Scrolls, you begin to understand why.

Happiness: 3
Population: 4
Economy: 0!
Army: 3

"My liege, our expenses this year were absolutely not covered by our profits, taxes and income."

"We will be getting gold in just few weeks."

"Yes, but that is barely enough to bounce back from the emptiness that fills our Treasury right now. And Deities forbid a disaster or two strikes in the coming months!" The Advisor shakes his head in defeat.

"We need drastic measures to get coin, now." He concludes in a firm tone.

A) "Tax the peasants harder!"
B) "Get rid of those mercenaries!"
C) "Someone offered me money before, its time I beg for it!"
D) "No, no, this is fine. Everything's fine!"

You decide to reserve a big amount of cash for procurement of golden idols, candeliers, icons and furnishings and pay up-front for services of gravers and glassworkers for the temples.

501 AD, Mid-Autumn

Your initial bout of generosity came and went without much echo, however. A tearful letter from the Archpriest is about the only reward you got.

You're sure they will view it differently in the future, though.

501 AD, Winter

It bothers you.

Pacing around the library, the moon high on the sky outside the window shines brightly, matching the dim candlelight on the reading desk.

It's been what, almost one and half year already? And nothing has sprouted from the seed you've deposited in your wife's womb, oh, dozens? Hundred of times already? Her stomach is as flat as ever. This bothers you to no end.

Your thoughts turn sour as you wonder if Duke Oker married his daughter to you, knowing that you won't be getting anything from it, and he will reap the prestige and connections from being your father-in-law... on the other hand, Priscilla is so dutiful, supportive, and most importantly, happy, being married to you. Maybe the nature's at fault here, and not the people?

You take a deep breath and look up at the moon. Your mind starts to wander...

A) Mayhaps it is time I deliver fat roasts and exotic incense to my family shrine?
B) Mayhaps it is time I deliver gold and jewels upon the altars of the Deities?
C) I worry too much. Life finds its way, even if it takes a while longer for some.
D) Mayhaps it is time I seek wisdom and skills of a herbalist or other medicine person?
E) I've been had! The marriage is over, and the sooner I get over it, the better!

Is our subspace transmitter working again?

Penhas the woodcutter/carpenter/what-have-you wants in, then. Hopefully a badass and/or family man?

"A fuse blew and I have lost lightning on the station. I know you're SRC client and not a fixer-for-hire, but can you assist?"

"Hold on." There's silence and a long wait of approximately twenty seconds.

"I can tell you that your problem is the main distribution node above the reactor room. If the ship's sensors aren't mistaken, not only a fuse blew, but it fried the main power conduit. I think you can still bring the lights back if you switch to secondary conduit?"

You look around the console.

A moment later you manage to bypass the main circuit and route power through secondaries. The dark red alert lights are turned off, only to be replaced by colorful lamps and guiding lights, turning on in bulk in every corner of the station.

"Do not count on me going down there to fix your fuse problem. My artificial half doesn't get drunk, but I can feel in my hands and legs that my biological parts do. Good night." The captain of 'Most Fortunate Occurence' turns off the commlink.

You check on other systems; anything that wasn't down before the electrical problem, including the long-range transmitter, is back online again.

You wonder what to do.

A) Ping Louise for help, again.
B) Keep the power routed through secondaries for now.
C) Try to fix the routing problem from the console.
D) Descend into the reactor area to access - and hopefully, fix - the blown conduit.

You ask the man to tell you about the ores and the rocks he has found so far.

Quote
7!*

He explains in detail the ore and the rocks he has found, their colors and granulate, the sediment and the size of rocks.

You two descend into half-conversation, half-comparison of your vast geological knowledge, and you realize you have found a common spirit in this literate and passionate prospector.

The awed scholars present in the throne room do nothing but gawk as two geniuses enjoy a moment together. Truly, they say, our King is a 'Loremaster'* of infinite knowledge!

"Reward this man greatly!" You shout at the courtiers, who scurry away to get some delicious foods and expensive clothes for the prospector. "This man has found gold in them hills, and thanks to him alone, our economy shall prosper!"

You send money, supplies and workers along with the man to begin the mining operation.

You gonna be rich!

501 AD, Summer

The mining operations in the Rodigo hills have begun. The prospector-turned-manager has sent a report in which he claims that first loads of gold bullion should arrive next Spring.

501 AD, Autumn

"So the Deists want funds?" The Advisor bows his head in response.

"More like they want to refurbish their temples with the stained glass and golden chandeliers stolen and sold by the Tyrant, my liege. He has taken a lot of valuable items from the temples and executed the temple-masters. I think we should consider their request for monetary help. A poor Temple of the Deities is mockery upon their image, after all." You know of this.

Compared to the Spiritualists, the Deists' temples are far more elaborate and fancy. It reflects the dualism of the regional faiths; Spirits for private, modest worship, Deities for public, grandiose worship.

When you want to have a nice day or to experience just a bit of luck in romance, you sacrifice food and small trinkets to your ancestors and natural spirits. When you have to win a war or lessen the burden of a disaster, you placate the Deities with splendid festivals and donations of valuable hoards.

This has been this way since five hundredy years ago, when the intermediaries, the Angels, were cast down, this tyranny vanquished and the road paved for the common man to pray to the divine forces directly.

"My liege?" The Advisor shakes you from your lore delving moment. "Shall we sponsor refurbishment of the big Deist temples in Remoria?"

A) "That is way too much for our feeble Treasury!"
B) "We will donate only some to renovate the biggest temple there is - the one in the capital."
C) "Of course! They can have all the money they need. Last thing we need is angry Deities coming over in anger and rage.

You order mercenaries to be hired into the Army.

501 AD, Spring

A young prospector arrives at the Palace.

"My liege, there's gold in them hills!" He exlaims, and then elaborates:

In his travels to the Rodigo province in the western borderlands, he was employed as quarry worker. He says the overseer of the quarry was oblivious to the ore-brearing rocks that were discarded during the excavations.

"And I saw the glint of gold in them, my liege! If I may be compensated some money for the expense, I will begin mining operation for the Crown's benefit this very Autumn!"

A) Ask him to elaborate on the rocks and the ore he has found.
B) "This is exactly what our economy needs! You shall have the funds."
C) "You sound like a cheap charlatan! To dungeon with you!"

2531
You hassle the Treasurer to get peat and other fuels for the peasants from independent merchants and the like.

500 AD, Midwinter

Quote

It goes as planned - merchants are contacted, monies spent, and the worst affected villages receive peat bricks to fuel their fireplaces.

500 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor arrives! In his hands are the Scrolls of Kingdom Status! How did your first year of rulership went?

Happiness: 3
Population: 4
Economy: 4
Army: 2

Well this is unfortunate.

"The bandit problem and the desertions really thinned out our Army, your Majesty." The Advisor states the obvious, grimacing.

"It wouldn't be wise to press the peasants into involuntary service, so mayhaps we would hire men from mercenary ways of life, instead?"

A) "Its not like we're at verge of war, or anything."
B) "A big army is deterrent on its own, and we must have it! Get me those mercenaries as soon as possible."

2532
You hop onto the comms station and send out a call for help.

1234USY.2d/1m.0216h

There is good news and bad news.

Good news is that the communications relay is working.

Bad news is that the subspace transmitter is not. That means that sending out signals anywhere outside Aries will take, well, light-years. You ponder if you are able to-

"Everything right at the station?" The short-range receiver buzzes with Louise Pereres' voice. "Your distress signal woke me up, and that is not fun."

A) "Nothing to worry about, miss Pereres. Please resume your rest."
B) "A fuse blew and I have lost lightning on the station, nothing I can't fix however. Please resume your rest."
C) "A fuse blew and I have lost lightning on the station. I know you're SRC client and not a fixer-for-hire, but can you assist?"

2533
You loudly voice your displeasure at the attempt bribes from anyone attempting them.

The gift offers cease within few weeks.

500 AD, Winter

Winter is hard and cold.

Fireplace is warm and... warm.

"Which brings me to the next topic of our conversation, sire." Advisor's dry voice jerks your mind back to attention.

"And that being?"

"There's shortage of peat in peasants' houses." He notes, rolling open a few letters. "As you know, ours is not particularily wooded land, and therefore people dig out peat for fuel of their furnaces and firepits instead of cutting down precious lumber needed for other things. Many cottages are now cold and there is reports of people freezing to death inside their homes."

A) "Nothing I can help with, now."
B) "I cannot let my people suffer! Tell the Treasurer to dish out the money so that we can buy peat and timber from traveling merchants and send ti to the most affected hamlets!"

Having not yet tasted the sweet fruit of marriage, you agree to the Duke's proposal.

500 AD, Midsummer

You are astonished by the Duke's daughter because the short description of her advantages, that accompanied the Duke's reply, was him greatly underselling Priscilla's assets!

She has a waterfall of golden hair, sparkly blue eyes, a charming smile, big and perky 'assets', but she also has a charming voice, is well-mannered, skilled in knitting, mathematics, and poetry, and even knows how to handle servants and maids around the castle despite being around for less than a day.

Truly you couldn't have choosen better, Priscilla is truly a diamond amongst rocks - that, or you're drunk from 'love on first sight'. You still firmly believe its the former, though.

The marriage and the wedding party goes off with lots of fanfare, and then you and your new wife spend the first night together - out of many thousands, hopefully.

500 AD, Autumn

Many nobles, formerly lukewarmly supporting Thordor during the civil war, have eagerly joined your side once the Tyrant started losing.

Some of them are now trying to wiggle their asses into your good graces and sympathy, by the well-established, traditional, and nearly sacred practice amongst the aristocracy:

Gifts, money, and monetary gifts.

A) Nay! I am not a man of bribes!
B) Nay! I am not a man of bribes, and I resent the 'accusation'! To the dungeon with the corrupt nobles!
C) Sure thing, the Treasury definitely will need it on later date.
D) Sure thing... and lets spend it on festivals for the poor peasants.
E) Sure thing... and lets spend it on acuqiring new recruits for the Army.

You decide to back up the Army with few teams of adventurers and mercenaries.

500 AD, Late Spring

It worked out well!

While there was still lots of casaulties amongst both your soldiers and the hired blades, the bandit horde was squashed, with many fleeing into the woods or outside the borders of the Kingdom. Yogen, his family, and closest supporters and lieutenants, were all hanged (women were drowned, per tradition).

Crisis averted!

500 AD, Summer

You receive a letter from one of wealthy landowners, Duke Oker. His only daughter, Priscilla, has just turned fifteen, and he can't imagine a better suitor for her than newly-minted King of Remoria.

That's you, in case you've forgot.

A) Sure thing, send her over.
B) Um, no, I have something else planned.
