I thought France was in Italy?
Considering Europe's rather complicated history, this might have been true at one point several occassions.

Played it on PC, didn't look like it was ported.

After looking at the bunch of CDs from that game magazine (of course, the CD with game is nowhere to be found ::)), I can only tell the game might have been from 2000-2002 period :v

Nah, the game I played was horizontal-scrolling, not vertical-scrolling.

And there was more beams and lasers than bullets :P

27804
Nah, it looks too much 3d :P

Damned wikipedia list for scrolling shooters' doesn't seem to have it either :c

-snip-

Sounds like a Gradius game. I remember playing Gradius III on the SNES, but that was released in '91... not sure about any of the others.

Nah, I've checked Gradius series on my first look for this game, and that's definitely not it :c

The battle continues, as the noises of new combatants approaching grow louder.

Kaffehausen von Scriver fights against Gragrar Jynson; the huge spiky weapon swings near the enemy commander's face, threatening to bash his head into his neck. At one moment, whilst successfully evading the blow to his face, he didn't move entirely out of the way, and even through his chainmail, he felt the large head smashing into his ribs, forcing a cough out of his throat.

This prompted the valiant, sword-wielding commander to adopt a defensive stance - at least for a while.

Axe the Zombie Prez had enough of this and lunged at Kaffehausen; the axe struck fast and wildly, but anytime the blade hit the metal of Kaffehausen's armor, the blow was absorbed. Bruises, yes, but bruises is all that Kaffehausen was going to get from his particular attack.

Stabbitystab von Overyunther, in the meanwhile, tried to score a kill on the wounded Gragrar Jynson, but the commander proved to be tough nut to crack; either by his desperation or skill, he managed to deflect all and any of the attacks of the murderous halberd.

Heavily wounded Tarakai decided to go easy on himself; and went into defense as well.

Then, Gloria Helmec I decided to attack someone. That someone turned out to be Perry Govier; alas, Perry wasn't going to be easy target, and after deflecting or evading several of the blows, he himself struck with his axe, rending the flesh of the young woman, across her stomach.

After that, he too adopted defensive stance, hoping to see the reinforcements before his shield drops. And reinforcements he did see - the soldiers of the Queen! Three men ran from around the corner and reinforced Kaffehausen's troops, making this fight very, very unfair.

But life is rarely fair.

Reinforcements for Side A! Cristobal Hunt, Gim and Shon Norg enter the battle!
