Update 6: Prelude to Bloodshed

Production of transports and colony ships started at Otar system. Negotiations with Nausicaans and Tellarites slowly move toward possible trade treaties.

Nothing happens during next week (besides annual Romulan fleet movement), and nothing happens the very week after, except construction of USS Miranda, a Soyuz-class destroyer. Cpt.Dsarker took the commanding seat of said vessel and was directed right to Xepolite system.

Week later, USS Miranda and USS Crazy Horse arrived at Xepolite. Cpt.Ebbro took command of the new cruiser, and Cpt.Hanzoku was reassigned to USS Polaris. USS Raman, the old scoutship, has been sent to Zakdorn so the crew gets some training (and a short leave).

Another week passes. No message from Romulan government. Our colonists settle at Kraus system, near Nausicaan's homeworld. We're now performing negotiations with Flaxians, Tellarites, Nausicaans and Breen. The latter are especially unfriendly toward us, but it's matter of time until they join.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ferengi are screwing with us (and Klingons).
That declaration of war is basically a 'ohno Klingons gonna pulverize us, plz membership C:' scheme on Ferengi's part. We either take them as members now or will have to liberate them later, possibly during some gruesome and long siege.
I've sent a membership proposal to them. Midget bastards.
USS Charleston, another Excelsior warship was constructed. Whilst I promised one for Cpt.Pisskop, current situation at border demands that the ship will be sent to Cpt.Cain's fleet instead.

Week 71 rolls in; USS Majestic, a Soyuz-class destroyer leaves Zakdorn shipyards, with Cpt.Euld as her commanding officer. We began rather slow process of terraforming and colonizing several systems in our local space, as well as projecting a line of outposts at Romulan border.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ferengi joined the Federation and as you can see, they haven't come with empty hands. They managed to assemble four 'Marauders', lightly armed cruisers that have armor and shields on par with our Excelsiors! Their infrastructure is level 5, same as ours. On top of that, their special building gives +25% bonus to credits generated by their system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What you see above is the defeat of Ferengi at their home system by bunch of Klingon and Trill cruisers. There doesn't seem to be any invasion force but who knows. Ferengi military put their orbital defenses online just in case.

This sudden Klingon aggression forces me to pull off Cpt.Ebbro's group from Xepolite and send him to rendevouz with Cpt.Pisskop at Bolarus. Few more ships will join them, including the pair of Centaurs that is monitoring Cardassian border.

Next week...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week, Cpt.Cain's group is attacked by small fleet of Miradorn vessels. This first contact ends tragically with the loss of whole Miradorn group - we quickly found out that they are military affiliates of Romulans.

What's more important, though, is...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That we are at war.

Stephen Hawking released zombie apocalypse on the world, so me and my black-skinned buddy (he had this mean-looking shotgun too) hid with other survivors in an old shed with a fence around it.

After a while Hawking materialized and I begged him to reverse this, but he disagreed. I've stolen his time-travelling wheelchair and snapped into other time version, at outbreak of the zombie apocalypse. Together with my black soldier-friend, we climbed a concrete wall and hid in small room with nice view on 'Obama Palace' (whatever the heck that was supposed to be) and Central Park, so basically we were now in New York.

Then, while Hawking teleportized to mock us, I've made sturdy plastic door out of boiling pasta with cheese and sauce, and barricaded ourselves in the room as Hawking dissappeared.

And then I woke up.

Update 5: A Storm is Brewing

Up to Turn 58 nothing really happens. Terraforming and again, terraforming.

Then, the Zakdornian Academy is completed. We have another point of creating warships with experienced crew. Given the large population of Zakdorn (500+ million) and large production infrastructure, we have another shipyard system for Starfleet.

Same turn, Internal Security caught a Cardassian courier with notes for their spies. And then, I get a message from Cardassians who demand a payment to keep their soldiers happy.

Also, another Romulan scout had 'slight warp drive problems' and had to be 'helped' out of our territory. Their government remains silent, though. I'm not sure what I should be worried about - Cardassians being bossy or Romulans being deadly silent.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Goddammit.

The very next week I'm woken up by priority signal from Zakdorn and Ktarian ships stationed at Xepolite. A group of Romulan cruisers decloaked there and hailed our ships, demanding immediate withdrawal from the system. Then the hails went silent and cruisers re-cloaked.

Next minute I got report from the subspace scanner operators at Zakdorn, or rather, a pair of images of the scan of the neighbouring Romulan colonies.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our intelligence department estimates current Romulan force buildup at approximately 3 scouts, 5 battlebirds (cruisers) and same amount of destroyers.
The Sol Defense Fleet, commanded by Cpt.Cain have been dispatched to Xepolite system at once. It will take them 3 turns to reach the system. In the meantime, I've ordered our ambassador to Romulan Star Empire to try and negotiate some kind of defusal of the situation, because it might turn ugly.

Next turn, same incident happens - Romulans decloak at Xepolite, near our forces there, demand our withdrawal else dire things will happen, and recloak - our scans indicate they merely sit there.
There are arguments between our Ambassador and Xepolitean government about this situation. Meanwhile, subspace scans indicate that Romulans pulled four more ships toward the border, seemingly of the destroyer-size vessels.

After much consideration, I've ordered Cpt.Ebbro and our alien allies to withdraw to Zakdorn. Sensors don't indicate any kind of invasion fleet nearby, so propably this is show of power. We will gladly reply with own show of power - as soon as Cpt.Cain will get in place.

Next week, and Romulans are gone. At least, from the neighbouring sectors. Or maybe they are more cautious with the cloaking devices.

No matter - Cpt.Cain's group is ready to jump to Xepolite system in less than seven days from now on. We've ordered Cpt.Ebbro and his group, and the mixed Zakdorn-Ktarian unit to synch their drives and jump to Xepolite in the same time.

Romulans want show of power? They shall get one.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

From Cpt.Cain's report I can read that the Romulans retreated to their colony at Alpha Cygnus moments after the combined Federation forces arrived in Xepolite system. There's approximately 18 to 20 starships, of varying size, at said colony.

Withdrawal of Romulans have renewed Xepolites' faith in the Starfleet, and we're hurrying a membership proposal for them, whilst our transport ships are en route - the sooner we will fortify Xepolite system with an outpost, the better.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

From the more peaceful part of Federation territory - Flaxians agreed to a trade agreement. Soon, we will approach Nausicaans with similar proposal. Because a relationship with Flaxians has been established, we moved onto next alien race - the Tellarians who are close to Bolians.

Romulans are currently shifting the forces between their two colonies, moving the fleet in bulk. This is looking like a large group of vultures waiting for their prey to show a slight sign of weakness so they can sweep down on it and devour it whole.

I don't like this by a single bit. Zakdorn queue was shifted - infrastructure plans have been scrapped, bar few more industrial replicators, and then, four Soyuz-class destroyers shall be constructed.

One turn passes, and nothing of note happens. Well, besides the annual discovery and capture of Cardassian intelligence courier. Estimated Romulan fleet size: 24 ships, +/-1.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Several days later happens what I was waiting for a long time. Xepolites have joined the Federation - my only wish is that it would happen in more peaceful times.
The Xepolites have level 4 infrastructure, which is almost as good as ours. On top of that, Zakdorn have switched to destroyer production and our newest Excelsior-class medium cruiser, USS Crazy Horse, have left Sol yards and is en route to Xepolite as we speak.

Let's hope that future will be as fortunate for us as it was so far.

//Argh, those Romulans. They always pull off that damn trick. I started calling it 'Goddamn Romulans Everywhere.' Where did all those ships come from, I have no idea. I hate you Romulans.

Update 4: Terraforming, Friendships, and Great Boredom

The four other races in our new, grandiose Federation are all on the 3rd tech level. This is slightly below ours, but they have lots of construction and research infrastructure ready. We have pledged support in their terraforming efforts. We will also assemble a small transport fleet that will go to Bolarus, the most remote of Federation members, to build an outpost there (now building outposts takes ages unless you employ several transports; on other hand, outposts can take out small fleets on their own).

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have to mention that shortly before formation of Federation, we've send an envoy to Romulan Senate, demanding ceding of territories close to Zakdorn as well as small tribute for their expansionist streak. They have agreed to the demands.

USS Nautilus, a Soyuz-class destroyer commanded by Cpt.Monkey Head, have been launched from Sol. Currently it will be assigned to Cpt.Cain's defense fleet.

Another off-Sol colony have been founded one week later.

With above event, and construction of USS New England, a Centaur-class ship commandeered by Cpt.Ivan, we are making few reassignments. USS Oberth (Cpt.Greatorder) will be added to Cpt.Ebbro's group at Zakdorn. USS New England will pair with USS Pascal and go to Bolarus, whilst the old USS Pegasus will return to Sol for extended training program.

A pair of Excelsior-class cruisers have been ordered in our shipyards: One will be dispatched to Bolarus, and other to Zakdorn. Given amount of colony and transport ships in queue, this will take tens of weeks.

Oh, from neighbourhood news: Lissepians joined Romulans, Orions joined Cardassians. It was matter of time, really.

Up to Turn 50, nothing particular happens. Just a string of infrastructure building and terraforming. Even our borders are quiet and activity of our neighbours is almost non-existant.

At said Turn 50, Ferengi and Xepolites accept our trade treaties. While we will pursue a closer relationship with Xepolities, we will not encourage closer relationship with Ferengi. They are simply too far from us to properly protect them in case of any hostile actions. Maybe somewhere in the future, when our Federation will be much larger.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next week we learn that neither Klingons nor Romulans are happy because of our economical treaties. But what they can do, heh.
In retort to this, we opened negotiations with Nausicaans and Flaxians, our close, but rather isolationist neighbours. Our donations for their homeworld projects ssurely will warm their hearts for us.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Several days later we score a diplomatic blunder with Cardassians. This comes in the time when our non-aggression treaties with both them and Romulans expired.
Zakdorn ships already had to 'help' a Romulan scout which had 'slight navigation error' and ended in our space. Said scout safely returned to Romulan territory.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At the very beginning of the second year of my Presidential term, I've received news from Xepolitean government, and they agrreed to become our military afifilaites. Given they are squished between us and Romulans, we will come up with defense plan of their homeworld. Most propably, we will have to move Cpt.Ebbro's group from Zakdorn to Xepolite homeworld.

//And that's all for today. Laziest update so far. I've hoped I could at least get new warships or something, but that didn't happen. Hopefully next bunch of turns will be more lively P:

Update 3: The New Era Begins!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As we have suspected, Cpt.Hanzoku have met the elusive Romulans in the nebula. First contact has been established and as far as we were instructed, the Romulans have several colonies away from their homeworld. Another space-faring empire right at our neighbourhood.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Two weeks later we receive a Romulan envoy offering a non-aggression treaty. We have agreed to it.

I've also received envoys from Benzites, Zakdorn, and, suprisingly, Ktarians as well. Their governments have been talking to each other for a while and they are considering a formal creation of an alliance, which would include Earth as well. This caught us by surprise - merely half a year ago we were known as murderous xenophobes and suddenly we're on a brink of creation a neighbourly union.

It will take some time for preparations to be completed, because most of my government, with me included, have agreed to consider the proposal.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Some time later, Cardassians demand payment for their soldiers. We told them to pay from their own pockets. Also, we received the news that Lissepians became affiliates with the Romulans.

This requires new defense preparations in case of hostile intentions. USS Osiris as been sent to monitor Cardassian border from safe position, while two scouts under Cpt.Pisskop's command have been recalled to Sol for military training.
Cpt.Hanzoku was sent to Zakdorn, where it will meet with Cpt.Ebbro, commanding USS Polaris, our Soyuz-class destroyer. Sol production queue was changed slightly - I've nulled construction of several new universities for favor of quickened starship production. After the a scheduled colony ship is completed, our homeworld shipyards shall construct additional Centaur and Soyuz class vessels.

Two weeks later, Bolians accepted our affiliation treaty. Captain Pisskop and crew of USS Pegasus were taken from training duty and sent to scout the newly accesible sectors. Our hope rides with brave captain.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our Internal Security agents have caught a Cardassian intelligence courier. Whilst previously we were only able to assume that Cardassians are spying on us, now we have a definite proof. Also, it will hinder hteir operations greatly.

Also today, USS Onizuka, a Centaur-class surveyor left the shipyards. Cpt.Pies took command of it and was tasked with joining USS Osiris in border monitoring duties.

Also, we noticed something disturbing on our southern border:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Romulans colonized a system close to Zakdorn and, if our sensor readings are correct, there's a colony ship in the Alpha Cygnus system as well. They have flanked Lissepia nicely but that's also the very border of Xepolite territory, the race we have started diplomatic negotiations some time ago.

Just one week later we received news of Romulan colony on Alpha Cygnus. Less official sources claim that Orions signed an affiliation treaty with the Cardassians.

Several days after that, USS Oberth, Centaur-class and name tribute to older vessel, have been launched from our shipyards. Commanded by Captain Greatorder, it was tasked with protection of our terraformers and colonists in the Alpha Hydri system.

At week 35, Cpt.Pisskop reports his ship is going through an large region of void.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Week later we got this.
As currently we have nothing to do with Orions, we must assume that it was Cardassians who have pushed their Orion friends into delcaring war on us. As the Orions are well known pirates and raiders, Cpt.Pies have been advised to put both Osiris and Onizuka on yellow alert and be ready for confrontations with the Orions.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Captain Pisskop meets the Klingons. Another space empire, empire full of warriors. We was asked to check out another blip near the northern rim of our quadrant - amongst several unknown configurations, there is apparently a Ktarian destroyer. Peculiar, I dare to say.

First of new destroyers was launched from the Sol yards: USS Ophelia. It was sent to Bolarus for security reasons.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Captain Pisskop has been busy - he investigated 'Ktarian' vessel, which turned to be made by Breen, actually, a race of hunters and warriors. They were orbiting Ferenginar, a homworld of midget traders, named Ferengi. Captain Pisskop will scout nearby systems and then go to Bolarus, where he will take command of USS Ophelia. He earned this assignment.

Next week, Captain Pisskop barely evaded an incident - he discovered Breen homeworld, not so far from Ferenginar, and had to quickly leave before the BReen could get angry or outright kill him and his crew.

We also finished preparations for something else. Our greatest diplomats have been sent to Bolarus, Benzar, Ktaria and Zakdorn systems, with proposal of joining Sol in an interplanetary union. In few weeks, we will experience something grand, I'm sure.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Few more days pass and I suddenly receive a report of several protests concerning our relationships with other races. Internal Security was unsure why or whom started propagating lies toward our government, but they will try to pinpoint the culprit. Personally, I suspect Cardassian involvement.

USS Oberon, another Soyuz-class destroyer, has been completed at Sol and sent to reinforce Zakdorn.

One week later...

==============================================

11th October, 2161, San Fransisco, Earth

Today, representatives of five different races and five different star systems have met together to sign a charter. A charter that establishes the military and economical alliance between these five races:
Humans of Earth, Benzites of Benzar, Bolians of Bolarus, Ktarians of Ktaria, and Zakdorn of Zakdorn.

This is truly a great day - this alliance will pave a way for other races to join our coalition, and one day, all of the quadrant will live in peaceful harmony, together joined under one banner.

And this interstellar, multi-cultural alliance will be henceforth known as

The United Federation of Planets

==============================================

//So yep, all four races accepted my membership proposal in the same turns. Feels good, man C:
