EuchreJack: As soon as Trill completes one, it's yours.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hmph.
In the meanwhile, we're casually picking off stray Ferengi raiders. Romulan and Klingon ships roam around our sectors, not really able to do anything.
Cpt.Ivan became an invalid. His treatment will require years, but his son, Ivan (apparently the 9th in the family), has just finished Starfleet Academy. He will be assigned to a strike group as soon as we make one.

Few turns pass with boring terraforming, expansion and occasional raider/scout/destroyer being destroyed by our starbases.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And another Klingon convoy at Exo hits the dust.
However, it seems that Klingon and Romulans are able to make quite a few ships lately. It is possibly because of the accursed Ferengi sponsoring the fleets of aforementioned empires.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As soon as Starbase 10 at Selay is completed, Cpt.Hostergaard Jr. and his fleet shall move into Klingon space and harass the ships at Sakoron and Qo'nos systems. Surely there's a few of them waiting in hiding.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Does the name sound familiar? Wouldn't be surprised, I was considering colonization of it, like, 200 turns ago. Hurr durr.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Honestly, Biology research is totally trying to get a one-level gap between itself and Construction research. It might actually happen that we will get level 9 in Biology whilst still developing level 8 in Construction.
Bombarding of Romulus is progressing slowly, chipping away 15-20 million of population per turn. With completion of Starbase at Selay, Hostergaard's fleet departed for Klingon space, ready to wreak havoc in their space.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hostergaard Jr. was dissappointed that all he met at Qo'nos was single K'tinga cruiser. It was promptly turned into a cloud of fine dust.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh, we're at Galaxy-X production already? Neat!
Cpt.Ivan, the 9th, has taken command of USS Brooklyn. Over time, we will amass a whole fleet of these ships.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now, it is time to undermine the Romulan Star Empire by taking away their friends. Constellation Fleet has been ordered to station there in case Andorians will need assistance. I can tell you, though, based on my experiences, that bribing away a minor race can sometimes take dozens of turns.

Over next few turns, Andorians reject our bribe and Hostergaards destroys another convoy at Exo system. There's a small group of mixed Klingon/Romulan destroyers near our border, which he was tasked to take care of as well.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh, neat. Isolinear scanners allow us to see 4 spaces away from a system with such scanner. Selay, Gaspar, Trill, Acamar and Angosia were ordered to put the upgrade in their production queues.
In the meanwhile, we spend our amassed funds to quicken teh construction of two addition Galaxy-X starships; USS Nagara and USS Sendai, which were put under Ivan 9th's command.

Andorians keep rejecting our bribes. As I suspected.

And at Turn 297...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now, the collapse of Romulan Star Empire is just matter of time. Admiral Nix's fleet have done wonderful job.

29403
"It is past 1900 hours, pilot. Your votes will be considered, but the ultimate decision lies in Captain's hands. Rest for now. But be ready for action any moment." With those words, the First Officer tipped his cap and left the room, leaving four tired pilots with the newcomer.

29404
The First Officer shook his head.

"Not really. The fleet is going to attack several outposts. We weren't included in the roster and we were going to perform sensor sweeps andvortex patrol duty. It is by coincidence that Odysseus arrived late, they had minor problems with their vortex engine. As I said, either we or them can go and check the asteroid field. If-"

"First Officer Sergei Romanov, please report to the sickbay." The computer voice interrupted the officer.

"Any other insights?" He asked, ready to leave. "If not, you're free for now."

29405
//GAH! Why all those posts weren't showing up in my unread replies!? Dx

"I congratulate you on your mission, pilots. We don't have time to mourn for our lost comrade. During your battle with the drones, we had a surprise attack from starboard - several bomber drones and few fighters. Whilst we managed to deal with them with timely arrival of Odysseus, there were light damage to the upper decks and several wounded, amongst them Captain Lydia. She is currently in sickbay."

"I would like to welcome Sarah Galloway, your newest teammate. Odysseus had too many pilots for now, and thus she was transferred. Her suit of choice is Stargazer." Here, the First Officer looked briefly at Kira."

"Given your performance, I'm promoting you to a military rank of Novice Pilots. The Quartermaster have already sent new uniforms into your bedrooms with proper shoulder badges."

With Odysseus here, I'm currently debating with the Captain if either we should take on Odysseus duties and rendevous with cruiser group near Tau Ceti III, or maybe we should go deeper into asteroid field. Given the emergence of Tsuan suit, it is now clear that there's a Tsuan outpost. So far, the Captain is undecided. If any of you have any suggestions, I would be glad to hear them, now."

[Erava, Harpe: +1 point into Rifles]

29406
We could subjugate them, but that would totally pulverize our people's morale. For Federation, the best course of action is just 'kill the natives and colonize the ruins'.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The captain of USS Champlin has retired and a young commander, Euchre Jack, has taken the captain's seat. On board of USS Champlin, he shall defend our border at Trill from any possible Cardassian strike fleet. The system is on quick road to recovery, and soon Euchre shall receive few more cruisers to strengthen our position there.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our Starbase at Eden destroys an upgraded Romulan war cruiser. In the meanwhile, Cpt.Hostergaard Jr. and his fleet decimate a pair of Klingon scouts that invaded Selay system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh and we get better weapons level too.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One turn later, Borka system is free of Romulans. Our scaly friends, Selay, get hit hard by a disastrous epidemic. The battlefronts are quiet now, besides occassional stray scout/destroyer from Ferengi or Romulans that gets swiftly killed by our starships or outposts and starbases.
Admiral Nix and his fleet now move onto Romulus, which they will bombard for a while. With the capital system in peril and two member races of Romulan Empire being coerced with our bribes, soon they will collapse into ruins!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At Vadris system, our fleet of Constellations meets a small convoy of transports protected by two War Cruisers and a smaller vessel. Both transports and War Cruisers are destroyed, whilst the fifth Romulan warship managed to warp away. Our ships received minor damage, no ships were lost.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Gamma Hromi along with Hoek systems are colonized. Those are two of five systems we shall be colonizing in next few turns. In total, these systems should provide 1.2 billion of population.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All these military victories and colonization boosts our morale greatly. Just look how happy people are.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

*sigh*
It feels just as if wiping out Ferengi would solve all our problems, really. Vadris, the system in which battle against Romulan convoy was fought, has been bombarded thoroughly - no Romulan was left alive.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also we push into seventh level of Construction. This allows us to build Galaxy-X cruisers, a vast improvement over our old Ambassadors. After Zakdorn and Sol finish upgrading few structures, we shall put a production queue for several of the new ships. Oh, and Ambassadors that were going to be build at Trill for Cpt.Euchre? Yup, gonna be Galaxy-X as well.
5% of research allocation was shifted from Biology to Construction to speed up the latter.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next turn, two more minor victories - at Kanaan, our Constellation fleet destroys an uncloaked Romulan cruiser and a transport ship, and at Exo, our cruisers from Angosia pulverize small, undefended Klingon supply convoy.

The citizenry is so overjoyed by our victories and colonization that despite Romulus being bombarded, the morale actually still gets higher :3

We're doing bloody well, I can say :3

Ivan, decide already if I should kill your captain or not for storytelling purposes :P

I just started a new singleplayer character. I made him look like a dark elf xD

Maybe I will make him a mage living in a tower. Or ninja.

Magic ninja!

Four turns pass in relative peace. Mudor system gets attacked by a random Ferengi raider. It is destroyed on it's second approach. Other than that, our colony and transport ships go for the systems I mentioned earlier. They will make nice colonies.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And then we receive declaration of war. This is both unheard of and very troubling. Their military is still tiny but it's Klingons we speak of - even their colony ships are armed, so we should be careful.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ahhh, so that's why! Ktaria! It's not a wonder anymore how Romulans were able to sabotage us so hard back in old days! It's both a rally point for their fleets AND a minor race system!
Our Constellation ships manage to destroy a scout and transport before our enemies make a hasty retreat.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ktarians have a Game Studio which produces addictive games (oh gods!) which in turn boost Sabotage rating by 50%.
Also, we got a breakthrough in propulasion. It extends the range of slow (green range) ships by 1.
In the same time, Klingons make peace with Romulans. The Klingons really fell into degraded state, what a pity.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hmph. I knew this would happen. And so we're back at the situation where everyone hates us. Klingons and Romulans signed affiliation treaty.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At the end of this saddening and rather short update, have a galaxy map for yourselves. Beta Agni, Hoek and Gamma Hromi are being terraformed before we will colonize those systems. Relations with Andorians are receptive, and icy with Ktarians. Flow of bribes is steady. Collapsed trade routes with Cardassians took out 250 credits from our income, which is around half of what I suspected.

29409
I'll take control of a ship near the Klingon border, engaging in diplomacy and diplomacy.

No ships stationed at Klingon border now, though. Only a system of outposts and starbases. Klingons doesn't pose a threat now, so I don't keep any warships or fleets there.

You could take lead of one of ships stationed at Trill, near Cardassians. A breaking of alliance might be brewing with them, if not outright war.

29410
Normal 'domination' victory is when you control 60% of star systems.

An alliance pushes the required amount to 75%.

Found something in a guide:
"Domination requires the player to control over 75% of the galaxy alone or 50% as part of an alliance, vendetta requires you to eliminate your two natural rivals in the galaxy."

29411
Yep. We have 21 systems, all other empires have between 5 to 9.

29412
24.

With discovery of Andorian mega-system, our diplomats are sent to them with bribes and promises, trying to persuade them to our cause. They are curious of us, but this will take time.

However, there's something else.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This large system is quite possibly the main rallying point of Ferengi-Romulan Alliance. Besides what you see, there is another Ferengi war cruiser, three Romulan Destroyers and one Romulan scout. We're not sure why they are preparing such large fleet so far from our theatre of operations. Covert strike against the Cardassians maybe?

Our scouts have been ordered to rendevous with Nix's fleet at Borka system for now.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Kind of wise when you have no fleet, eh? Of course we accepted the treaty. Hell, I would even send them supplies because it's pains me to see them stuffed in their little system unable to properly expand.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Husnock Raider just destroyed a Starbase-in-construction at Selay. This is the time to deal with the raiders. Ivan's and Hostergaard Jr.'s fleets shall converge near the system and destroy the warship in combined strike.
Next turn, eight Constellation-class starship is completed at Sol. Cpt.Ivan's strike group shall get that batch and together, they will form 7th Fleet. It will serve as the intercepting fleet for enemy vessels entering our space.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This happens next turn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And this, turn after.
Also, Klingons and Cardassians asked us for donations. As our standing with them is rather neutral, I've accepted them, this time.
USS Rupertus, USS Meredith, USS Keppler and USS Norris join Cpt.Ivan's fleet. Now we will enter Selay and strike the Husnock Raider.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Husnock is destroyed, as is USS Anatevke, Cpt.Ivan's flagship. We recovered him from one of escape pods, but his wounds are grevious. He is hospitalized on board of USS Taussig, but doctors aren't sure of his survival, and quite possibly only the strength of his will* can determine the outcome of next few days.

His acting officer has been ordered to take the fleet into Romulan space and visit the 'rally system' of combined Romulan-Ferengi fleets.

At Acamar and Eden, two different Ferengi Light Raiders are destroyed.

*wink wink, nudge nudge

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With this breakthrough, we're halfway into Level 7 of sciences in the Federation. Our diplomats are 'making friends' with the Andorians.
Our Constellation fleet has been redirected toward Eden, to intercept incoming Ferengi strike group.
However, our External Affairs department reports increasing difficulties against both Romulans and Ferengi. Accidents happen, operations go wrong because of slight errors in the conduct. We might need to boost our funds for our espionage agency.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cardassians were caught redhanded. Twice in the same day. Our standing with them is turning to worse, but I will insist on monetary reparations for their meddlings. To make things worse, the citizens of the Federation are raising voices of concern over bombardment of Borka system. We might need to lift the siege soon.
We also lost Seadragon and Sandhusky to a surprise attack by Romulan Cruiser II class warship. Sandhusky was the fourth and the last Oberth that remembered the times when Federation was still in its infancy.
Our standing with both Klingons and Andorians continue to raise, which is the only good news this turn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cardassians coldly accept our demand. At Eden, our Constellation fleet destroys three Ferengi Light Raiders, fourth has escaped. Cpt.Ivan is, sadly, still in coma.

29413
Galaxy-X is cruiser, not command.

29414
For now, only four. When I catch up with upgrades, there will be two fleets, 8 Constellations in each. Or one Constellation fleet and one Defiant fleet. It really depends how fast we progress.

Also, it's first time ever I see a system larger than 450, not to mention 500+ million people.

And yes, I will be buttering them up in bribes by tens!

EDIT: Woops! Fixin' the mistake now.

29415
23.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our first Constellation-class heavy destroyer is completed. Cpt.Ivan took command of it, and whilst he was eager to warp toward the border systems, he was ordered to wait at orbit of Mars until completion of three other Constellation ships. As for now, we will be buying materials with our credits, which means that Cpt.Jarod should have a working patrol group quite soon.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next turn, USS Taussig is completed at Sol.
Cpt.Nix, along with his 6th Fleet, shall now proceed over to Borka and bombard it. It is more populated system than Romulus. It's loss should deal heavy blow on Romulan production capabilities.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, as you can see, the Federation Council signed Order EXA-000, which means that we will be sending our Betazoid and Human agents into Romulan and Ferengi territory to do us some espionage. We shall remain concentrated primarily on internal defense, though.

Next turn, USS Hollister is finished, and added to slowly forming strike fleet of Cpt.Ivan. In the meanwhile, USS Seadragon, our newest Oberth-class scout ship is completed at Zakdorn. It shall take a course through Klingon-Romulan border, then curve along Romulan space and presumably become the first Federation ship to enter Ferengi space.

Also, on Trill, there's now 80 million population. All buildings were brought online, which reestablishes Trill as one of our most important worlds.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ah right, at last, USS Hamner has been completed. Cpt.Ivan's strike group shall depart for Angosia, and from there, will strike any targets of opportunity.

It is actually quite of sad to harass Klingons. Their fleet is almost non-existant, thanks to the Husnock Raider ship, presumably which is still around their systems.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hmph. Ferengi get everywhere with their small arms and big bribes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now that's like kicking a cripple. This game can be very harsh sometimes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Scientific breakthrough news are always good, but not so much when it comes to Biology. Almost 95% of the time it only means better farms.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

External Affairs scores their first victory. It is a very minor victory, but still a victory. This means that whilst Ferengi military and treasury are somewhat large, their rate of expansion is minimal.
And while we're at colony ships - after we will reinforce key systems with Starbases, we're going to colonize several large systems we have easy access to - those in bottom-right quarter of the map. There's no galactic empires there, which means w're free to build-up our industry there.

In the very same turn, 6th Fleet under command of Cpt.Nix arrives at Borka and prepares to siege it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The first strike did brilliantly. It took down most of the defenses in Borka system and our ships received only minor damage. The other effect of the siege is buildup of Ferengi and Romulan ships in the area.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cpt.Ivan and his strike group destroyed an outpost at Exo system. They are going to scout the two innermost systems of the Klingon Empire, including Qo'nos.
In next two turns, Cpt.Ivan visits Stakoron and destroys a transport ship, and at Qo'nos, a destroyer class ship. So much for Klingon Imperial Forces. The strike group was then ordered to Selay, and from that position, it shall intercept enemy vessels.

Siege of Borka continues and so far, public doesn't seem to be all negative about it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Sandhusky discovers this system, currently in process of colonization by Romulans. The bastards seem to be on a roll when it comes to huge systems. Also, at the top, it's Crystalline Entity - we can assume it's the same that hovered near Acamar long ago.
Also at Trill, our two Ambassadors destroy a Ferengi scout that stumbled into the system.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

First Contact! The Andorians have a good initial standing with us, despite being in Romulan hands. Let's check their home system, I wonder if they have nice planets.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Pardon me whilst I go take a break.
