Game's Lore Stuff:
Spoiler: Chronology in Human Years (click to show/hide)
1651-52 AD: Kardenians united under banner of the House of Arogos. Arogos Era starts on Kardenia.
1800-1850 AD: Spaceflight breakthroughs for Kardenians.
1947 AD: Roswell incident; a spacecraft crashes in Roswell, Nevada, on Earth.
1950-2000 AD: Spaceflight breakthroughs for Terrans.
1971 AD: Kardenians permamently settle on the first moon of Kardea, Irna.
2017 AD: Roswell incident revealed to public, along with US research notes on spacecraft's systems. Human astrophysicists puzzled by the engines.
2024 AD: Kardenians permamently settle on the second moon of Kardea, Ippilos.
2031 AD: Arogos IX murdered, beginning of The House War on Kardenia. Humans permamently settle on Earth's Moon.
2031-34 AD: The Kardenian House War - Kardenians use chemical and small-scale nuclear weapons. Population dwindles from 4.4 billion to 773 million on Kardea in less than two years. House of Kosimos emerges as the major political power; Kosimos Era starts on Kardea.
2040 AD: Space Vortex Theory proposed by Dr.Julian McKenzie, after 23 years of work on Roswell spacecraft engines.
2040-2053 AD: The Great Unification of Earth: As the new era of prosperity begins, both Americas unite, while European Union turns into Eastern Hemisphere Union, assimilating African and Asian countries in a peaceful way. By the end of 2053 AD, both governments sign Earth Unity charter - which proclaims that "All Humans are equals, and in equality they shall live forever on United Earth".
2055 AD: Kardenians thrive - sciences and inventions, once lost to the War, are rediscovered. Kardeans settle on first planet of their system, Koos, in next ten years. In the same time, Humans built settlements on Mars, relieving Earth from the overpopulation (8.1+ billion people). Construction of Space Vortex Probe begins.
2061 AD: Humans settle on Venus for scientific purposes; Space Vortex Probe launched. First Space Vortex ever found between the orbit of Neptune and Kuiper Belt - a connection between Sol and Alpha Centauri systems.
2061-66 AD: Humans send numerous probes into Alpha Centauri, and a manned mission in 2066 AD. Vortex proclaimed as safe for space travel - humans greatly shift their scientific interests into space-related research.
2070 AD: Kardenians develop Space Vortex Travel engines. Humans arrive at Alpha Centauri III, a rocky planet with a barely breathable atmosphere. Heavy terraforming and settlement occurs in next eight years. Humans also settle on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons.
2075-77 AD: Kardenians explore five different star systems, along with Alpha Centauri. First Contact between Terrans and Kardenians; 3rd December, 2077 AD/105th Day of 42 Kosimos Year.
2077-2085 AD: Much cultural, scientific and goods exchange happen between Terrans and Kardenians. Independence movement on Alpha Centauri slowly grows.
2086 AD: To avert a full-scale war, Earth Authority Council grants Alpha Centauri III the state of independence, as long as it won't be aggressive toward Terrans. United Earth and Alpha Centauri III form Terran Alliance. Migrants flock from overcrowded Earth to Alpha Centauri III.
2089-2099 AD: Relationship between Terrans and Kardenians slowly turns to worse because of many disputes, misunderstandings and cultural differences; it goes from friends, to bitter neighbours.
2100 AD: New Year's Eve Incident; Kardenian Cruiser Hosinos, under the command of Kos Staros Geranos, rams into Europa, Jupiter's moon. Hosinos' Vortex Engine overloads and creates a miniature black-hole that rips the moon into pieces, killing all of 3.95 millions of colonists in few seconds. Lack of evidence leaves the mystery unsolved since then. Terrans blamed Kardenians, Kardenians blamed Terrans, and so it began...
2100-09 AD: Terran-Kardenian War.
2100-02 AD: Battle for Alpha Centauri; Four large sieges and more than fifty skirmishes in the Alpha Centauri System, between Terrans and Kardenians. The system falls into Kardenian hands near the end of year 2102 AD. Occupation of Alpha Centauri III begins.
2102-06 AD: Several large battles and numerous skirmishes across Sol, Alpha Centauri, Sirius and Eleos systems. It slowly becomes apparent that neither of the sides is able to do a full-scale inter-stellar war at this point.
2107 AD: Few days after New Year's Eve Incident 7th anniversary, Alpha Centauri III is liberated from Kardenian occupation.
2107-09 AD: The continuous war in Alpha Centauri, Eleos and Kardea systems erodes the support of civilian population on both sides.
2109 AD: The conservative military leaders of House of Kosimos are overthrown in a bloody coup. The moderate representative of the House claim leadership and sue for peace with Terrans and Centaurians. Terran-Kardenian War comes to an end. Economical and cultural recovery takes more than ten years for both sides.
2121 AD: A dormant, unstable Vortex in Tau Ceti system suddenly opens, spilling several dozens of unidentified ships into the system. Tau Ceti Research Station and a pair of light cruisers wiped out in surprise attack. First Contact with the Tsuan Stellar Empire established.
2121 AD-Today: War With Tsuans.
2121-24 AD: Tsuans, with their superior technology, stabilize the Tau Ceti dormant Vortex that leads into one of their systems. Tau Ceti and Sirius systems lost to Tsuans.
2124 AD: Terran Alliance and Kardenians forge a military alliance in the light of new threat. Later that year, a crippled Tsuan fighter is captured. In very short time, Terrans, Centaurians and Kardenians reverse-engineer Tsuanian technologies, including shields, laser cannons, subspace communication, surface polarization and mind-computer links, the later allowing Terrans and Kardenians to develop Personnel-Controlled Assault Space Suits, PCASS, known more commonly as 'Suits'.
2124-25 AD: Siege of Sirius. Terrans regain control of the system.
2124 AD-Today: Siege of Tau Ceti. Terrans regain control of the system, but it always falls back into Tsuan hands after a brief amount of time.
2126 AD: Ares (Terran) and Karnak (Kardenians) prototype suits come into battle. They prove to be a considerable power on the space battlefields.
2126-29 AD: Suits are improved and fitted with better weaponry. A small group of Suits is able to challenge a large space cruiser into a fair combat.
2130 AD: Space Vortex between Eleos and Gliese 876 systems established, bringing number of the star systems in known 'Vortex Net' to ten. Unidentified probe found in the orbit of the fifth, smallest of planets. Few weeks later a Zobian Raider ship is encoutered, emerging from uncharted Vortex in the system. First Contact with bulbous, insectuous Zobians ends in a brief skirmish; the aggressive hunter-scavenger nature of Zobians denies any diplomatic relationship with them. However, they clearly state that anything behind Gliese 876's Vortex is 'theirs'.
2131 AD: Brief incursion of few Terran Suits into Tsuan space via Tau Ceti Vortex. Visual reports and sensor readings indicate that Tau Ceti is connected with a system on the other side of the Milky Way galaxy, meaning that this particular Vortex connection is at least seventy times longer than any other in the known 'net'.
2131-32 AD: Many skirmishes between Tsuan fleet and Terran-Kardenian alliance, as well as rare skirmishes with Zobian Raiders.
2133 AD, 6th February / 179th Day of 98 Kosimos Year: TODAY.
1800-1850 AD: Spaceflight breakthroughs for Kardenians.

Spoiler: Short Notes on Known Races (click to show/hide)
Name: Humans
Sub-races: Terrans, Centaurians
History: Humans evolved from primates on planet Earth in Sol System. They are very violent species with a bloody past full of wars for a lot of causes - territorial, economical, even religious. The general hunger for knowledge, as well as reverse-engineering of Roswell spacecraft (the 'grey men' found dead near it, and their species, are still an enigma) allowed Humans to turn their eyes toward other celestial bodies. They first united their own planet in rather peaceful way, and spread onto neighbouring planets in their system. After the Vortex travel has been understood, they qyickly spread into Alpha Centauri system, closest system to their own homeworld. They've met Kardenians, with which they fell into a conflict spanning several years. After the conflict has been ended, a new threat of Tsuans and Zobians emerged, forcing the once bitter enemies into close allies.
Appearance: Bipedal humanoids. Their skin is often tanned, albeit there are white and black skinned minorities, and the most common hair colour is brown, with occassional blonde, black and red haired humans. Average weight is 80kg and average height is 1.7m. The eyes of Alpha Centauri III 'native' citizens are of exceptionally bright variants of normal human eye colors.
Life expectancy: 95-110 on average.
Name: Kardenians
Sub-races: -
History: Kardenians are proud, militaristic species with a long history of clan struggles. Loyalty and honor take precedence before survival. They engaged in a brutal House War which almost made their species extinct because of the chemical and nuclear weapons used in the conflict. Unlike HUmans, they developed their Vortex-traveling technologies on their own. They don't believe in any gods, and they base their calendar on House Eras, which change according to the name of the House currently governing over the planetary union. Their lifespans are shorter and their brains have smaller volume than humans (long-lasting effect of DNA damage from House War weaponry), but they fix this disadvantage with superior reflexes and highly developed instincts and subcounscious. Currently in alliance with Terrans, the Kardenians provide military aid in the long-lasting fight against Tsuans. They also protect and monitor Zobian activity in Gliese 876, to ensure that a second front won't suddenly erupt in that system.
Appearance: Bipedal humanoids. They sport very long hair, often creating a sort of 'mane' when the top hair joins with moustache and beard during their adolescency. Two horns sprout from their forehead, one horn above each eye, with average growth of 1 milimetre per year, until death. Their skin have a range of hues, starting with orange, going through red and crimson, to brown. Their organs, bones and muscles are thicker and more resistant to internal damage, which in turn increases their weight; average Kardenian male weighs around 130 kilograms and is 1.9 meters tall.
Life expectancy: 70-90 on average.
Name: Tsuans
Sub-races: ?
History: Not much is known about Tsuans. They came into Terran-Kardenian space in early 2121 AD. After initial, tragic First Contact, they apparently decided that Humans and Kardenians are fit only for slavery, as witness and after-battle reports suggest servants of both races on Tsuan ships. They constantly try to conquer solar systems in local Vortex Net, and so far they are fighting with Terrans over dominance in Tau Ceti system. They possess advanced technology which has been partially reverse-engineer by Terrans, Centaurians and Kardenians. Thanks to courageous efforts of Cmd.Tyler and his Suit squadron, Tsuans are believed to live on the other side of Milky Way Galaxy; given the numbers of their ships and ability to wage war for so many years already, it is suspected that their Empire spans several (or more) star systems with many inhabited planets and other celestial bodies.
Appearance: Bipedal humanoids. They are very tall and possess bright skin and hair, both characteristics are often white, sometimes yellow-white. Their eyes, however, are always green. They often wear excessive amounts of jewelry - propably not only for decorative purposes, but also to determine the rank and importance in their society. They're similar to the 'Elves' found in fiction books created by humans. The highest specimens measured 2.6m of height.
Life expectancy: Unknown, presumably human-like.
Name: Zobians
Sub-races: ?
History: A space-faring race, encountered just few years ago. Zobians seem to be gatherers-scavengers, raiding other species' ships and stations for resources, also mining the asteroids and gathering gases from gas giants in Gliese 876 system. So far they aren't inclined to negotiate with either Kardenians nor Humans. It is unknown if they ever had contact with Tsuans. However, they zealously guard the Vortex leading out of Gliese 876 system, and are able to counter any attempts of intrusion with both speed and force, suggesting they possess some highly advanced sensor and propulsion technologies.
Appearance: Rare autopsy raports and few visual recordings state that Zobians are bulbous, centaur-like insectoids possessing carapaces of general green colour (bright green being the most commonly seen). They have four black eyes, possibly structured similarily to the eyes of Earth flies or Kardean blood snails.
Life expectancy: Unknown.

WAITING LIST:
Spoiler: Tsuchigumo550, second entry (click to show/hide)
Name: Sanya Degyatrev
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Race: Terran
Ranks: Recruit
-Rifles I (+5% Hit)
-Melee 0
-Launchers I (+5% Hit)
-Initiative 0
-Evade II (+10% Evade)
Rank Points Left: 0
Kills: 0
Suit: Aggressor A (Sanya has asked her superiors repeatedly for any weaponry with more range.)
History:
She was Tsuchi's lover and subordinate during the war. She's quiet, reserved, and shy, good in a suit but preferring not to get caught up in a fight. While she dosen't have a real specialty when it comes to weapons, she's very evasive and good for attacking at range.
She's very emotionally fragile, and learning of Tsuchi's death (or super horrible injury, I still wish he was a ship NPC- screaming about manly tactics and the good old days...) put her in a slump for weeks. While it's easy to make her cry, she's also a powder keg of hatred and rage, should you press the right buttons. Most of the time, she's just simply... there.
She doesn't try to socialize but also doesn't try to avoid socializing.
She's short and petite, and while she's not much of a fighter, she's very slippery in combat- she was the one keeping Tsuchi alive by retreating with him all this time.
She's willing to drink and is bad at gauging her liquor-holding abilities, and she's very easy to manipulate when even slightly drunk. Doing this to her... may just add to the explosive force of that powder keg.
She's one of the greatest pool/billiards players ever. Her aim with weapons inside a suit she's been in for little more than 3 days reflects that.
