You send a reply in which you request the Prince and Princess to be sent to the capital of Rufia. You believe it shouldn't take more than two weeks.

1000 CCE, 1st Week of Mid-Spring

You hear that the Lorentanian Revolutionaries are gaining upper hand against Royalists there. They control the north, east, and south of the country by now.

The tyrannical Dragon zealot, Dragu I Draguvic, King of Reumia, a small mountainous country in the east, has been assassinated by members of his Council. The wise advisors and nobles abolished the monarchy to the cheers of the Reumian people. It seems that a republic will be instituted in place of the oppressive, monarchic regime. Book burning and public killings of Dragon Scholars followed.

The melting snows in the mountains and breaking ice on the rivers has caused blockades and subsequent flooding in western Rufia! Local governors are overwhelmed with the size and magnitude of flooding, and are requesting the Royal Army to come help digging ditches and making sandwalls.

A) Of course our soldiers will help! Nothing builds unity like military and civilians working together.
B) I think I will send money instead, so that the governors can hire larger amounts of workers.
C) Sorry, but we can't lend any help here!

You take the podium and deliver a speech on the importance of economy.

Quote
2

Your stuttering, boring tone of speech and the fact that you contradict yourself several times makes some of Seimus members chuckle under their breaths. When Markus Lebe takes your spot, he is able to easily point out errors in your speech and sway the majority of Seimus to approve of army funding for the year.

Industrialists and other economically-minded members of Seimus grumble loudly, and you feel that the politicians' support of you dropped a bit.

1000 CCE, 4th Week of Spring

A sealed envelope has arrived to you from the northern borderlands. It has been sent by local garrison commander.

In the letter, he describes an incident in which one of his night patrols have captured a pair of strangers sneaking through the border valley. Much to the commander's surprise, the duo have presented themselves as Prince August and Princess Loria of Lorentania, two out of six Princes and Princesses of the civil war-torn country. Using their names and the hospitality priviledge of the noblemen, they demand asylum in Rufia.

They did wear the Lorentanian royal family signets with them, but the border commander decided not to trust the two and has sent this letter, requesting expedient instructions what to do with the two visitors.

A) Kick them out, we don't want Lorentanian Revolutionaries stomping into Rufia in search for them.
B) Send them to the capital! Monarchs and princes ought to stay together, especially in these troubled times.
C) Interrogate them thoroughly. They might be spies, or something worse! Revolutionaries in disguise, even!

You decide to attend.

The Seimus is taking place in the former Grand Court, where lives and punishments doled out to peasants (and fines for nobles) were decided, according to Rufian law.

Now, the lawmakers and bureaucrats have gathered in it today to discuss: budget, laws, crimes and punishments, and military strength of the Rufian Kingdom.

It is tedious and boring, but there comes a moment for you to intervene: two groups, one of 'Industrialists' and one of 'Royalists' are butting heads about the budget and Army's presence in Rufia.

"We ought to cut down on the Army, now that the war is over and the King is restored." Industrialist Vilnius von Metzhopen bows in your direction out of respect. "It is finally time we invest heavily into coal industry, steel foundries and textile manufactories. Otherwise, we will remain poor and backwater, and become laughing stock of the continent!"

"Laughing stock of the continent we will be if we brush aside our military power!" Yells the Royalist and one of your field commanders, Markus Lebe. "Prestige comes from strength, and what is the better show of strength than armies of well-equipped Rufian riflemen? It is the military that safeguards the economy, not the other way!"

By the law of Seimus, you cannot take the matters in your own hands and decide in place of Seimus' lawmakers... but here's a thing - nothing in Seimus' lawbook stops you from taking the podium and put yourself on one side and another, and thus inspire the undecided members of Seimus to back a particular group's decision. Of course, if you're not a good talker, your speech might actually make it worse...

To meddle, or not to meddle - tis a crucial question!

A) I'm gonna stay silent on this.
B) Commander Lebe is right! If there's anything we ought to spend money on, it is the military!
C) Industrialist von Metzhopen is right! We ought to invest in our economy, so that we can fund grand armies in the future!

Year 324

In the middle ground of the Western Continent, between the Great Eye Lake and the Western Sea, the nation of Sicis is born! It came to existence after the twenty Toadmen marsh-hamlets were united under one particularily cunning and martial warlord, C'is, who has either killed other chiefs in ritual combat or took them in as brothers-in-law, after marrying his numerous sisters to them.

Sicis Toadmen are beastfolk that tend to be very respecting of their parents, and their parents, and their parents... and ancestor worship is strong within Sicis. To slight one's parents or assault them is as to slight or assault one's chief or village shaman - a crime punishable by death.

Toadmen, being greatly sedentary and not very exploration-minded, do not know of any other races beyond perhaps Slugmen that dwell east-northeast of them, the two races having met in recent years purely by chance in wilderness of the Weak Territories between their domains.

The Toadmen know of pottery, mudbrick construction, mathematics and pictographic script: Sicis Pictograms number over 360, and are etched into clay tablets by the scholars and spirit-talkers. Toadmen know little of metallurgy, smelting precious metals into simple trinkets to adorn their chiefs. Well, C'is and his family, nowadays.

C'is declares himself the Marsh King, and orders construction of a magnificent Ancestral Temple, made with mudbrick walls and gilded wood roof, where all Toadmen ancestors are to be venerated, with those of C'is considered the Great Ancestors.

So basically, I make a 'nation' and then descibe its history from day (well, year) of creation?

You decide to agree to the request of monetary compensation for taking Elspeth away from her family.

You arrange for the marriage to take place on first day of the first week of Summer, so that Lamian royal family has time to prepare for the visit.

Von Saltyburg leaves, quite pleased with the deal.

1000 CCE, 3rd Week of Spring

You learn that the Republican rebels have seized the capital of Loretania, and have established the Serene Republic of Loretania. The whereabouts of the Loretanian royal family are unknown to your spies.

Your commanders send you reports that the last of Revolutionary outposts have fallen. Pursuant to your order, over 800 Rufian Revolutionaries have been shot to death, a fifth of this women and children of Revolutionary leaders and commanders.

The Seimus of Rufia is in its first session!

Seimus is the Rufian legislative council that your late father, Jacobus IV, consented to be created so that lawgivers and representatives could meet together to discuss and prepare reforms of the laws and priviledges. The Great War postponed the Seimus' first session, and the Civil War erupted shortly afterwards, so neither Seimus nor its ideas could be finalized.

The Seimus has the priviledge of autonomous law-making, but a stipulation in Articles of Seimus grants you priviledge of 'royal presence'.

A) Bah! I need not mingle with the lawyers and bureaucrats!
B) Such a grand moment as First Session of Seimus couldn't occur without my presence! To the Seimus Court!

You offer a regiment of soldiers to protect Lamia city from harm, and guard the members of Lamian royal family themselves.

"That is a good offer." Von Saltyberg muses. "However, I believe my master would be pleased more if the wedding gifts were made of gold and silk, not flesh and steel."

A) "Either soldiers, or bust."
B) "Fine then, wealth and money it is!"
C) "I feel generous today - and I offer both soldiers and money to King of Lamia!"

You arrange a meeting with Mr.von Saltyberg.

"My liege would be very pleased to offer the hand of his daughter to you, young King. Rufia has been an amicable neighbour for decades, exempting the unfortunate times of Great War, but the incursions by local Revolutionaries will be forgiven." He twirls his moustache.

"What can I bring to my homeland in exchange for Princess' hand in marriage?"

A) "Rufian regiments to safeguard the Princess' family and home state!"
B) "Nothing. Me being her husband should be priviledge enough!"
C) "Rufian silver and goldware, jewels, glass and porcelain!"

For what the Revolutionaries have done to your family, you sign an order that puts them and their families and supporters to death once they're caught.

1000 CCE, 2nd Week of Spring

A carriage carrying Rufus von Saltyberg, a diplomat from neighbouring kingdom of Lamia, has arrived.

Your aides report that he is wishing to conduct a marital treaty with you, offering the hand of fair Princess Elspeth von Lamia, daughter of the ruling King and Queen, Robert and Jacobina, to you.

A) Let's arrange an audience, then!
B) Sorry, I'm not marrying outsiders.
