DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

A giant bat is in a sort of killing spree in my first cavern. So far it's killed a puppy, two war dogs, and a farmer. :o Damn you Gingked, Youngfeed! Damn youuuuu!

Very fitting name, I must say :P

I'll put the blacksmith to work creating more golden buckets for the wells, I'll need to start making the chains, I've got gold block and I'll pick out the very best obsidian mechanisms. It's going to be a grand total of 12 wells, 10 for the hospital and 2 for the adjacent bath-house. The originial plan was to place 6 wells in the bath house but channeling each level was hideously dull. I'd best start up soap production so the bathing would be even more ridiculously luxurious.

10 wells for your hospital.

10.

Why do you have ten wells for just your hospital?

Silly, the answer is obvious like anywhere in DF.

Because he/she can :P

You wouldn't even need to color them. There are quite few blue alloys. Most revolving around copper and zinc, I think...

General Discussion / Re: Weird dreams you've had
« on: August 16, 2011, 03:06:14 am »
So in my latest dream my computer have melted when I was playing some games.

I've ran through many metallic doors and sludges and hidden myself on the bridge of a space submarine. Because I only then noticed I was a rookie onboard. Some other soldier, captain and science officer where there too as well, and the latter blamed me now with destroying reactor computer.

Whole submarine shook a little as we were under attack by some alien spaceships. The nuclear reactor got a leak and poison began seeping into the sship, killing everyone but me and others barricaded on the bridge.

Oh and we had to deal with water leaks because it was space sea so yeah, space water seeping in.

I easily remember seeing Earth on some computer panel with a slowly decreasing number of 276 'somethings'. Hours, minutes, who knows. I said to science officer that I'm feeling strange and he nodded, saying it's all about nuclearity - that's the exact word he said - at the moment and he can't help me.

Then suddenly everything was shaking, some large computer tower pinned me to the floor and we crash-landed on the road near my old house. We crawled out of the wreckage and some green-suited soldiers began interrogating and beating us, but then a white mist began seeping towards us. Me, with some female interrogator, ran to my old house and barricaded in. We began talking that she is apologizing for beating and then I said I feel dizzy - a kid appeared, saying 'It's because you're hallucinating, Paul'.

Then I 'woke up' and turned out it was a hallucination - I was still on the nuclear space sea submarine and the science officer, with a grin, shown us diagrams estimating when the radiation leak and hallucinations will kill us all, long before we reach Earth.

Then I woke up because my sister came back with groceries and accidentally slammed the entrance door :/

"Thanks. I think I had enough water exploration for now."

Zan goes back to the place they climbed down, and climbs up onto the cliff. Carefully.

I've began playing Morrowind again.

Instead of just getting myself the best junk and whacking everything around, I decided to become a lowly traveler/imperial legionist Nord.

Now I wander a lot, enjoying the places and talking with people, doing all those small quests, hunting and  reading rare books (some stories are epic, really), with my bunk and chest of private things in Darius' Fort in Gnisis. The gameplay... it just feels much better than ebon-clad OP battlemage I had on first go.

It makes me fuzzy and happy.

I think dot9's style has improved greatly from when he first start posting pictures here. At first they were indistinguishable as to what was going on and they look like they were made of pure nightmares. Now they are more distinguishable and look kinda cool in some cases.

The titan fight, imho, is pinnacle of dot9's style. The city was wonderful too.

DF Modding / Re: Any mods capable of editing embark size post embark?
« on: August 13, 2011, 04:14:41 pm »
Short answer: Nope.

Long answer: No, because embark size is 'hard-coded' after choosing a place and nothing at the moment can change it. In 2d verison, I think you cooould expand the map based on how north/south/east you went. It has been deleted from 3d for a reason - several thousands of suddenly added tiles would make any processor shit it's molten circuits in some terrible electronic diarrhea.

"Hmph, you're back so I presume the entrance isn't safe. What now?"

Zan also checks the depth of water at dead end. Maybe more of the path is underwater or something.

Stand in the dungeon with muramasa, weigh down your mouse and go sleep overnight.

Enjoy blazing wheels rushing through you and cursed skulls killing you from behind/below :P Oh, oh, don't forget that 4 or 5 Bones will actually crowd-push through your swings and hit you.

All dungeon enemies drop keys, it's just tiny chance. Pots might contain keys, and dungeon slimes are key-droppers.

A 'normal' wooden chest is a guaranteed 1 golden key + some cheap loot.

That's all I learned on my dungeon trip~~

About to embark for my space challenge... With one thing in mind: Can glass walls be seen through?

No.
Glass walls cannot be seen through... DAMMIT!!!!! I need this fort to be made almost entirely of glass, which is supposed to be seen through, and I've been told that GLASS WALLS CAN'T BE SEEN THROUGH. Do I need to make this fort out of windows with glass every two windows, or what?

I think that windows support adjacent windows.
