Question!

Does this wonderful thingy work with older version, namely, 40d?

Basically, the exported files are the same, but I just want to know if someone tried before I will try myself.

EDIT: Ahhh, 40d doesn't export the crucial XML file. What a pity :<

Also bought Uplink. Was doing awesome, had finally purchased the v5 versions of all the bypass programs. Then I got careless and forgot to clear the logs after  taking down a mainframe...

Heh.

General Discussion / Re: I've Fell In Love With Japanese Ads

Eh, I just kinda have to put this here. Even if not Japanese.

Also, about our strange Little Red Riding Hood... Anabuki is a construction company.

With my simple crappy machine, I did a quad-strike (2 snags and 2 smash jobs on 1 company) with plenty of time (thank you public access servers... all 20+ of ya! Bought me 5-6 minutes time to get those jobs done, and clean my tracks while inside. Just to be safe, I did a full cleaning of InterNIC like I usually do (nothing in the logs whatsoever). Got a neuromancer upgrade as well doing so (Aggressive). I think I can afford more fancy hardware now; but I'll wait until I finish my remaining assignments.

I can't wait until more crazy missions come up, now I have my public access net setup.

EDIT:
I refined my screening and cleared out the last login and did a fresh one and cleaned out only the admin login and my previous logout this time. NOW my tracks are covered enough (the timestamp difference should also help). I'm uncertain about that additional bit about leaving a stray login, no logout. It could just be any random IP address then?

Ahhh, Uplink.

Good game, before you will max everything. Then the central mainframe raids are *yawn* :P

Leaking money from wealthy guys accounts to your is still a bit risky, though.

And complicated LANs still elude me.

TFTD? I'm in.

Players:

1. Twi:
"Move to H6, face west."

H6 is a bit too far for now, but Twi manages to traverse half of the distance.

3. Furtuka:
"north 2 fire gigas at ps1"

Furtuka intercepts enemy mecha and shoots!

Hit chance: 75+5+0-11-0=69
Hit roll: 29 [Hit!]

Damage roll: 1d8
Damage dealt: 8-1=7

The bullets pierce the armor of PS-1, wounding it rather severely!

Furtuka: -8 ammo, Gigas
PS-1: -7 HP

4. John Doe:
"Remain in my position and turn west."

John: I turn west!
His mecha: But John, you ARE facing west!

And then John was west.

5. Derek Faust:
"Move to B11"

Derek steps on the marker! The holographic device beeps a bit.

6. Alan Cartago:
"move to F6"

Alan sneaks to the west, given the occasion that apparently AI isn't looking.

Enemies:

PS-1:

"Receiving input...

...

...

!!ERROR ERROR ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE L33THAX.EXE ERROR!!"

The AI-controlled mecha moves closer to Derek... and shoots at him! Impossible!

Hit chance: 75+10+10-(-14)-0=109
Hit roll: Auto-hit!

Damage roll: 1d10
Damage dealt: 5-1=4

The shell hits Derek's right shoulder!

PS-1: -1 ammo, Lionheart
Derek: -4 HP

Kaiser Stationary:

"!!ERROR L33THAX.EXE ERROR!!

Loading ammo..."

Kaiser seemingly goes berserk too, but re-loading has to be done first.

Kaiser: +6 ammo, Kaiser. Used: Ammo Replenishing Module.

Radios buzzed again. Before anyone would speak to you, you could easily hear panicked voices, shouting and general chaos on the other side.

"Rookies! AI went berserk!" Razimov shouted. "It seems that a virus has been uploaded earlier today! AI doesn't respond to marker's data, so we have only one choice! Destroy them, especially PS-1! I don't want to imagine what would happen if it escapes the training area and attack one of surrounding settlements!"

Your new orders seem to be very clear.

***Mission objectives have changed***

Objectives:
1. Destroy all enemies.

TURN 10!

Life Advice / Re: Come, come! Hear a creepy PC-related story!

Possibly that.

Actually, one side of the RAM card was loose. The 'shorter' one if it makes any clue.

It does have locking hatches - one was undone.

Also, the shop I got (or rather my sister got) this PC was rather local place, not a brand mark shop with shiny stuff.

Life Advice / Come, come! Hear a creepy PC-related story!
« on: December 24, 2010, 06:24:27 pm »
This pretty Christmas day, there were three blackouts!

After the third, I have noticed that my PC is running rather suspiciously slowly, so I decided to check on things. HDD is okay, same for fans and temperature (which hovers from 50 to 60C), RAM is 256...

Wait, what? I'm pretty sure this PC should have 448Mb, like it always had!

Even better, it started to shut down on random moments.

'What the fuck, PC, why thou die at me during this lovely Christmas day?' I was asking this myself. I decided to unplug everything and open the tower... gosh, the dust. It was cleaned out. And the villain behind this slowiness was... a ram stick popped out of the slot.

What.

I took it fully out and put it back in proper way. I start the PC and go to BIOS to quickly check - Io and behold, I have...

512Mb of Ram! WHAT.*

Now I need a proper and fairly rational answer to the question: What. The. Fuck.

Thanks for any help.

*It's not like I'm mad - actually, +64mb of ram is nice, but as far as I know RAM doesn't just appear out of nowhere!

PS: And no, it doesn't shutdown randomly anymore.
