"It would be bad on my conscience, leaving you in middle of your work. We will stay and help you destroy the local undeads."

"That's wonderful. I will make sure to pass word to the Emperor to reward you greatly."

"That... won't be necessary." Prince Aliberti turned to rest of his group. "Alright people, let's move."

That's saying something about this game's speed, doesn't it?

Anyway, level ups time!

You send the design to the yards.

Stardate 26.0

Civil unrest at its worst in Altair and the other uppity colonies. Parliament has just called in an extraordinary Security Council sessions to adress the unrest and colonial grieviances.

At the Bureau, though, it is the Annual Log Review! Your first, hopefully, one of dozens.

The Bureau was given a greater budget allocation from the Parliament; apparently Treasurer Surar personally saw to it. The Parliament's budget for Bureau was raised to 120 million Credits.

This gives a very nicely looking projection for start of Stardate 27.0 and the next Review.

Spoiler: Budget Tally (click to show/hide)

Reviewing the financial logs, however, you easily spot some of the expenses that could be avoided. Specifically, some of the maintenance expenses for the shipyard your designs are constructed at could easily fulfill all quota and safety requirements with as much as 2 M.Credits less.

A) Skipping off on expenses here and there will lead to a disaster in the future. We must not!
B) Every penny is important - and 2 million Credits ain't a small penny either!

You decide to make the prototype a test-place for the Warp Modulators, but otherwise the design will be conservative.

"More time for testing and fixing if anything does not go as planned." You explain.

24 Voting phase begins!

Choose between Option A (ending the chapter now) or Option B (staying and killing up all enemies).

After 24 hours pass, the option with most votes will be the winning one and the game will progress accordingly. To ensure no electoral fraud in here, only the current Players can vote and they can only do so by posting their vote here, in the OOC Thread.

"Ah! This is the orb?"

"A very peculiar... artifact. A big gemstone, at least." Dumt took out his burial book and began to flip pages, eyeing the illustrations and words written within.

"It's ours to take." The Prince looked at Dumt, who looked at the Prince before resuming the reading of the inventory.

"There's absolutely nothing even remotely similar to this orb in the tomb's inventory... I guess you're free to take it with you."

"Great. We shall be leaving, then."

"I see. I'm grateful for your work... though I could arrange for rewarding you if you help me finish my task. After seeing what we've encountered so far, I think that this job might be too much for just one me." Prince Aliberti looked at the Orb and then thought for a moment.

"Well..."

A) "Our mission is as important as yours, and we cannot have delays. Apologies, but we will be leaving now."
B) "It would be bad on my conscience, leaving you in middle of your work. We will stay and help you destroy the local undeads."

How shall Prince Aliberti respond?? Is there really a cause to hurry, or not?? Check out the voting in OOC Thread! Until we reach a consensus, this thread shall remain locked~!

You decide to have a conversation with Mrs.Surar.

Quote
7!*

You manage to convince her that such a fine vessel was made at such a budget, a larger budget will only get the UEP forces much better designs and stronger research division.

"I've always wanted to put my business work into something important." She sighs, looking as Oceanic slowly flies past the observatory's windows. "Now I know where our budget must be directed - into the stars! I shall do my best to convince the higher-ups in Parliament to give your Bureau more money at the next budget session."

Stardate 25.9

You receive the Parliamentary evaluation of Oceanic-class cruiser.

In the report, the Committee points out that it is a design that was put together quickly nad without proper development, owing to the short deadline. Despite this, your Bureau managed to fulfill some of the demands set by the Parliament. The Committee believes the Bureau is doing its work and should be given better support from the Parliament.

Speaking of the Parliament, they've sent you the new design demand...

"They want a corvette." Your department heads look at you.

"And that's it?" Your Chief Designer asks, looking at his colleagues in confusion.

"Apparently, yes? There are no further demands on the marks or capabilities of the craft." You explain. "We have until Stardate 26.6 to present the Parliament's committee a space-worthy Corvette."

"At least this time we have much more time. Should we spend the time on beefing the vessel up? We could make it bristling with small batteries and anti-fighter cannons." The Chief Designer is followed by the Dr.Volantis, your Science Director.

"My team is few days from testing the 'Warp Modulators', as we call them for now, in the field on board a science vessel. If we postpone the design making until 26.0, we could implement the Modulators into the corvette's engines."

As for making the corvette extra-shooty...

A) "Firepower is important, and the more guns the better!"
B) "Let's be conversative with the corvette's design, Chief Designer."

As for waiting for Warp Modulators...

A) "We will deliver them a prototype and test Dr.Volantis' theories in one go!"
B) "I would rather not implement experimental devices into this design, Mrs.Volantis."

Other Games / Re: Terraria - 1.3 released. Big Patch!

The patch has hit and so far I noticed only the pretty trees (started a new world).

What else is there of note at early stages of playing?

You open up the communications with the Parliament commitee responsible for overseeing your process, and try to negotiate a deadline delay so that your engineers and designers can work out those radar problems.

Next day you receive your reply - the deadline has been graciously extended to Stardate 25.8.

You immediately contact Al-Fadil and inform him of the change.

Stardate 25.8

Your design teams give the Oceanic a green light; they've done all the tests and they've done all they could to ensure its marks are as high as on the paper.

Spoiler: Oceanic-class Cruiser (click to show/hide)

Few days later, the Parliamentary Commitee and the Design Bureau host a presentation for the important figures within the Parliament. There are quite few nods of approval and jubilant shouts, albeit some of the MPs seem rather unconvinced. Perhaps they wished for something 'better', but you shrug - it's first design and on a very short notice.

As the banquet rolls in and everyone gets their Martian Margaritas and Jovian Jellies, you spot two important figures of the Parliament in the crowd.

There's Rudolf Goethe, a retired Admiral and leader of the populist Falange party, enjoying the view of the Oceanic, with his affiliates. Few meters away, Agatha Surar, the Parliament's Treasurer, is discussing things with her aides.

Maybe it's time to strike a chat?

A) I would rather keep myself and the Bureau without political affiliations, thank you.
B) Masses follow the Populists, so by being friends with them I'm friends with the public, right?
C) If the Treasurer herself backs me up, the budget increase is guaranteed!

"You shall have the money, Mrs.Volantis. If the Warp effect shape can be truly modulated, it will be the greatest scientific achievement since discovery of the effect itself." Your Science Director grins happily, moneybags already shining in her eyes.

Chief Designer Al-Fadil sends you a memo.

"During last of the Oceanic's space tests, our teams have discovered that there's a lot of noise near the Oceanic's radar dishes when scanning at very long range. It seems to be mostly due to the placement of the equipment, but we will require time to redesign and move the radars. Otherwise we will have to re-assess Oceanic's SCC rating from 2 to 1."

You look at your computer screen; there's a direct connection from the Parliament on call. No doubt the Parliament wants to see its cruiser.

A) "Third time's the charm! Radar coverage is important in battle, I'm sure the Parliament will agree to a slight delay."
B) "Welp, we've ran out of time here. Time to wrap Oceanic in long, red ribbon and show it to the Members of the Parliament."
