Another attack of the horrible shruk* occured. This time my traps and markdwarves killed the better armed ones, and the recruits armed in iron (this is 40d) prevailed through rest.

Casaulties: 1 poor woodcutter that got pounced outside, one recruit with torn out throat (bled to death of course), and one dwarf with punctured liver. Poor dude.

This marks second year with siege instead of human caravan...

Also, I just got a funny engraving. It's a dark background with grey dot inside (normally it's reverse (example: moon)) and it relates to killing of '' the unknown creature by one of dwarven heroes of Longhammer, ~60 years ago.

*Modded race, half goblins, half chimpanzee.

Well I went to a dwarven fortress to get a quest, and found them under attack by mountain goats, warthogs and vultures. There was also lion, cheetah,troglodyte, caveswallow men and antmen corpses around. What the heck happened?!

Wild life attack. Pretty common in savage areas. And in 40d, when gobbos had fortresses close to chasms and whatnots, upon entering they got sieged by groups upon groups of subterranean crits

Glitterhammers survived two years without a farm, attacks of harpies and werewolves.

Now, the shruk killed 11 from 12 of recruits, who, unfortunately, lacked weapons. Even armored in iron, they didn't made it. The stone traps and two markdwarves with their bone bolts scared them away.

The only survivor, Alath, is sleeping with two arms broken in his quarters, screaming in tantruming fits, grieving the loss of his brethren, and possibly shouting obscenities at me for being lazy with metalworks.

Also, got a fancy violet metal amulet with some gem crusting! And a legendary metalcrafter as well.

Ice walls in a goblin seige liberate socks?

I believe we just learned a bit of Dwarven Culture again.

This mentions the boardgame of Goblin Siege: Liberate Sock, a boardgame were, according to the rules, only Natural Ice Walls are not in solid meals. Everything else is, and that propably causes a lot of FUN to happen on the gameboard, especially with dice rolling and cards included.

Goblin Siege: Liberate Sock is (according to my research) a game in which there are goblins, owned by one player, and dwarves, owned by second player. The goal for goblins is to kill every dwarf, and for dwarves it is, of course, rescuing a *<<*giant cave spider silk sock*>>* from the middle of the goblin encampment. The game ends if the sock returns to the Dwarven Fort or all dwarves are dead.

Pretty simple and I want it.
