I've cut my hand (nothing serious) while peeling potatoes for lunch. The cause?

That silly small spider with long, thin, almost non-existant legs. Why I'm not especially scared of spiders, they always manage to startle me. He was sitting at the hand that was holding. And I smakced him with a hand that was holding a knife. Yeah.

Go me :P

Hey, Haspen! I didn't recognise you without a stone face. What's a nice guy like you doing in a thread down here?

Since when I'm considered a nice guy by you? :D

Well, on the internetz it's easy to lie and act like everything is OK in real life, but sometimes, you just have to share your sadness with the whole world :P

Could you possibly use less ellipses in the future? I'm getting tired of seeing them abused.

/sarcasm

Could you make an attempt to use proper grammar? "fewer ellipses", not "less ellipses".   ;D

OT: To this very day, I thought that 'fewer' and 'less' are interchangeable. Thanks :3

Haha, glad you like hugs.

Also, that's nice idea. I never tried civil service jobs. Writing papers, carryign them around and sorting information on computer... that's worth a try. Maybe I will even get a job at employment offices [/irony]. Thanks :3

Not that I'm supporting communism or something, but there was barely any unemployment back then. I think. Now, after all those years, with automatization of factories and generally customs/marketing > industry, all those poor people that were working in heavy industry are now jobless. And fighting with unexperienced youths (hello :D) like me for jobs. Not fun. Sometimes I really want to move somewhere to west...

The west is exactly the same way.  If you want a manufacturing job, you'll have to move to Malaysia.  Well, I'm certainly talking out of my ass here, but maybe you could whip up some of that old "green shoots" magic Poland was supposed to have.  Entrepreneur your way out of poverty.  I don't know how - maybe middleman deals to sell foreclosed factory equipment and infrastructure to Oriental buyers and investors?  Worked for Russia, until they ran out of old factories to sell.  Hopefully you'll make enough money to move to France or someplace with more social security.

I could go on and on with the topics.

And all those factories you speak about - When USSR moved away from Poland, they literally took whole factories ('Cease production, scrap equipment, take to Russia') with them, alongside with other goods. Well, not all of them, of course, but still, they didn't left empty-handed. Bleh.

Anyway - thanks for support. Now I want to hug thee! *hugs*

Well, I know people don't like to give out any personal information, but where are you then?  Because there may be other options, even if it's digging through scrap for copper to sell.  Not to be facetious, but cash is cash.

Chill, nothing wrong with asking, no?

Poland, East Europe. Living in a city called Gdańsk, were half of the living place is surrounded with wilderness, and half is surrounded with sounds of shipyard/refining stuff.

You could sell your blood, if you're clean. This is even more of an option of there's a blood center around you, then you don't have to market it.

Edit: You can get about $50 a week from that, which can help with quality of life issues if you're nearly destitute

I lol'd - like I lol everytime someone mistakes me with being native english speaking person and/or living in US. But that's okay, I got used to that :P

And what I can get from giving my blood away (in my country), is 10 blocks of dark/bitter chocolate :P

Aaaand cheaper tickets for bus/train/other, IIRC, I will give 4.5 litre of blood away in one year.

No luck, sir. And getting something at employment customs (btw: is that valid name?) for someone without education papers (I'm only after high-school) is almost nigh-impossible (you know that funny circle: No job = no experience. No experience = no job.)

Been there man.  So been there.  I don't suppose going to a different area is a possibility?  That or start a chotsky stand and hope some cheap tourists come around.

Eh. I'm already living in the one of the largest cities of my country. Oh well, gotta try again.

As long as I will find some job before I'm broken, it's kinda okay. And I'm not very sure that a souvenir stand with warehouses, shipyards and refineries in the background would gain attention :P

Oh crap oh crap oh crap

Placeholder, a mother of seven has now entered a mood.

What kind? Fell?

"This is a dwarf leather bracelet. All of the craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of dwarven leather and is adorned with hanging rings of dwarven bone. On the item there's an image of Placeholder acting strange, hugging her youngest kid. This relates to strange dissappearance of Placeholder's youngest kid while walking near the butcher's shop."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

20% unemployment at my city, sir (and just slightly lower rate in the whole country).

Job standards? Hell, I'm even looking for grass-cutting, cleaning at fast-foods, and all cheap stuff.

No luck, sir. And getting something at employment customs (btw: is that valid name?) for someone without education papers (I'm only after high-school) is almost nigh-impossible (you know that funny circle: No job = no experience. No experience = no job.)

Still, I have enough money to pay my half of the bills for, like, three or four months.

After that, it will be very un-fun.

Attacks don't currently count the Z-level, so you can go around tapping A+Shift and hope to get lucky. Or unlucky, if you get teleported to FUN or a bird half a mile in the sky.

Adventurers. The only people of DF world who mastered Spell of Randomly Spontaneous Teleportation.

And you say there's no magic in DF, people.

So, okay. 0.31.04 Adventure mode has become unplayable. It just processes, for minutes and not even finishing, a one step of my adventurer in not so large elven site in a smallest world.

At old 40d16, in such place the game just works beautifuly fast. Also, Dwarf Mode in 31.04 also gets slow.

Settings 1:
[PRINT:STANDARD]
[G_FPS:10]
[VSYNC:NO]
[TEXTURE_PARAM:NEAREST]

In 40d16, it's just slow. FPS around 10-15.
In 31.04, game occasionaly becomes unresponsive for minute/two/five, before unfreezing. Then, something ram-heavy occurs, and there goes another few minutes...

Settings 2:

[PRINT:PARTIAL:2]
[G_FPS:10]
[VSYNC:NO]
[TEXTURE_PARAM:NEAREST]

In 40d16, my dwarves zap through 91-bodied fortress, with FPS hovering around 20-30.
In 31.04, not only it lags, but the dwarves leave trails of themselves (like, a line of red-faces, but only one dwarven kid, on the front of that line). FPS going from as low as 5 to 50. At pause, it's 100 (the cap).

Help? OpenGL version for 31.04 works completely different (and wrong) than those from 40d# line.

And it sucks. Even non-OpenGL, 31.03 (without OpenGL) works more smoothly.

On other hand, my PC is damn old (10 years), and I assume that 1.3GHz CPU, 256mb of RAM, and a 64Mb graphics card (Nvidia) is not much...

EDIT: Sorry for inconsistency and typos. It's past midnight here and my eyes bleed needles.
