You decide to not deal with the fabrics.

Next you meet with the messenger from northwest. The young boy bows in respect.

"Greetings, my liege! I bring word from the settlements in the northwest."

"And what is that word"?

"My liege! The prospectors living amongst us have long spoken among themselves about seeking wealth in the unclaimed lands, and recently they did! Copper and tin and silver, my liege! The rock bears ores of useful metals, and they've sent me here to ask the Crown to grant them the right to mine outside the borders of our Kingdom."

The noblemen at the audience room murmur and talk amongst themselves; the poor, unaligned settlements in the northwest have been long left alone between the three kingdoms. Kastoria placing a claim on these lands, now proven valuable, might stir the neighbours.

A) "We claim the land for Kastoria! The miners are to move into them and start mining the ores."
B) "We shall first send diplomats to the settlements there, to acquire legal rights to settle and exploit the area."
C) "The neutrality of these lands keep Kastoria and its neighbours at peace. We must not disturb the delicate balance."

You decide to check the trade negotiations first.

In the letter, Afonso V refuses to the trade, citing that the prized cloth is hard to make and Afonso V is prioritizing its use for the good Satoriassi peoples first.

You ponder your options, even if they're few.

A) "No shiny clothes for my nobles, then."
B) "Maybe promise of money will make Afonso V reconsider?"

You decide to send messengers to Kingdom of Satorias, wishing to obtain Telquarta fabrics for your nobility.

Summer, 453 AEC

The recent changes of weather, from searing hot to windy cold rainstorms have sapped your vitality and brought upon you a terrible fever!

Three days later...

The fever continues to hold, but the healers are confidant that your condition is stable at the moment.

Next evening...

You leave the bed, feeling allright!

Midsummer, 453 AEC

A courier from Kingdom of Satorias has brought a letter from their King, Afonso V, regarding the Telquarta fabric trade.

There's also a messenger from a royal prospector working in the far north-west, near the unclaimed land between Maellia and Kastoria.

A) Let's check the trade negotiations first.
B) Let's hear the message from northwest first.

You decide that until they prove to be battle-worthy, the scaled beasts will be used as armored pack animals, by use of Crown's military, couriers and workers.

Midwinter, 452 AEC

A bit late due to recent heavy rainstorms, the gold bullion from the mines arrives in the Treasury.

End of the Year, 453 AEC

The Advisor arrives with the Scrolls of Kingdom Status!

Happiness: 4
Population: 4
Economy: 4
Army: 4
*Navy: 4

You feel fuzzy and warm inside.

Spring, 453 AEC

Recently, there's a certain Satoriassi fabric that is making quite a show amongst the noble ladies and men of your court. It is called 'Telquarta', it made of two thin layers of wool with some southern fiber between them. It is warm and insulating, and quite water-resistant. When dyed with bright colors, it gains a delicate shine.

Very fashionable, and of course, very pricey.

Your noblemen clamor for the import of the expensive fabric from Kingdom of Satorias. The Treasurer believes that controlling the trade of Telquarta between Satorias and your nobles might bring profits.

A) Indeed! Let's bring the fabric from Satorias, it will adorn the bodices of our aristocrats!
B) They're drunk on its qualities, but what when they bore of it? Itt is too risky to trade on whims and fashions.

You call few alchemists and herbalists known for their expertise and their prices. You agree to their demands and they set out to work.

Quote

The next afternoon it is evident that your wife has gotten better! She is weak and doesn't talk much, but the healers confirm that the worst has passed.

You send the alchemists to the Treasurer so that they take their share of the royal money for their services.

Winter, 452 AEC

The scaly quadrupeds have arrived in the stables near palace!

You and your family review the beasts; they are grey-scaled, they have multiple horns coming from between their eyes down to their nose, or whatever their equivalent is. Their long tails are ended with many shorter bone spikes, and you could easily wager that a swing of the beast's tail could smash an adult man's face with ease.

They seem to be quite hungry for vegetables, and their caretakers say they love cabbage, spinweed and greenspice.

In a show of personal bravery, knowing that you won't be able to escape if the beast rushes you, you stare down into one of the scalies' deep, black eyes. It stares back at you, munching through a load of leafs.

It snorts at you, expelling some foul-smelling greyish mucus at your feet.

A) These mighty war lizards will be ridden by the mightest of our riders!
B) These big scaly sheeps shall pull our plows and carry our trade goods!
