You agree to take Garden as your wife.

"My son!" Count Zoria proclaims, hugging you tightly.

Few days later you learn from the tutors of your younger brother Iakes that they've failed to find any talents in him. Although they will try again, it seems that your sibling is quite average and rather unremarkable. A pity.

440 AEC, Mid-Spring

The wedding of you and Garden is a loud and lavish one, the feast and entertainers sponsored mostly by Count Zoria's wealth.

The night of the feast is also the first time you see Garden fully disrobed - and you have to agree that she looks even more beautiful than before.

440 AEC, Summer

A delegation of Orcs have arrived at your court!

The black and ashen-skinned warriors of the northeast salute you as they approach your throne.

"Greetings, human king of Kastoria. Once upon a time, your ancestor had cadre of bodyguards, picked from noblest and strongest of our sons and heirs, protecting him from danger and giving up their lifes to ensure safety of his. We've come to ask whether you would be interested in renewal of that contract - our sons as your guards in exchange for Kastorian gold."

You decide to...

A) Buy the services of the orcish bodyguard detail.
B) Politely dismis the orcs.
C) Ask whether they could provide soldiers for your Army instead.

You decide not to upset the relationship with Xane-Peonians just to get some Albarran coin.

426 AEC, Midsummer

Resistance in western Aroserema has collapsed; Duke Oro has garrisoned the cities and keeps with his soldiers and moved south and east to help out the Marshal.

426 AEC, Late Summer

Urgent report comes from the Azure Sea! Your navy has encountered a force of Maestrimar transport galleys, led by two double-deck galleys. Your naval force suffered a major defeat and about a dozen of ships have been sunk. Your fleet has retreated east as the galleys made their way to the shores of Aroserema.

The capital city of Aroserema has fallen, but 'King' Nil has showed up at a fortified southern port! He and the remainder of his supporters have declared this port city of Elbajo as their new capital. The forces of Duke Oro and the Marshal have split again to besiege the new rebel capital as well as get ready to hound down any Maestrimari reinforcements that might show up.

426 AEC, Autumn

Maestrimari soldiers, two thousand strong, have landed four days northwest from Elbajo!

Fortunately, Duke Oro's forces have met with them, and despite only few hundred numerical advantage, dealt a crippling blow, slaying many Maestrimari on the Arosereman hills.

Unfortunately, the maestrimari have also reinforced the port of Elbajo, bringing men, supplies and ammunition for the rebel soldiers. The Marshal reports that the siege might last as far as Winter time, or mayhaps next year.

One long week after you receive Marshal's report, you feel the painful contractions. The baby's time to arrive in the big world has come!

The nurses and maids take you to a side bedchamber where they disrobe you and lay warm stones on your stomach to ease the pains, but that does not help that much.

And as if to mock and make you suffer more, the baby takes it sweet time to get out of your womb.

Quote

Finally, you hear it's squeal! It is loud and healthy, and the maids quickly tell you the news: "It's a boy, your Majesty! Your third son."

Gabrrel arrives soon afterwards, and, hearing that it's a boy, he names him 'Iakes', after one of his grandfathers.

426 AEC, Same evening...

It's been a long nap, but you wake up and feel lighter and more energetic than before. You see a strange, shadowy figure, but you do not scream. The person turns around and you recognize him - it's your father, Lycwl!

You quickly leave the bed and fall into his caring embrace. The night turns into the day, and the day into blinding light, but you feel safe in your father's embrace. You're happy now.

Years pass by...

440 AEC

You are Amet, son of Arina!

The last fifteen years of regency has saw you grow up and prepare for the role that once upon was in hands of your deceased mother, Queen Arina. She has died from sudden onset of fever that developed after she gave birth to your younger brother, Iakes.

The years of regency were quite peaceful and prosperous, for the court of your deceased mother was loyal and supportive in your childhood. Aroserema was annexed by the end of year 426. Another war to reincorporate Albarra has also ended in victory, although a costly one that saw Albarra fall under Kastorian rule. A treaty with Satorias to keep them from counter-invading saw the regents paying a large tribute to King Afonso V, who didn't seem very eager to protect Albarrans.

Relationship with Xane-Peon has slowly grew stronger. After King Anreu II died of liver problems (he fell into alcoholism in last years of his life), his son Anreu became the third Xane-Peonian King of that name. After visiting your country, he fell in love with your half-sister Elea, and the two have been happily married for the last five years. No children have been produced by the marriage, though, and the court is full of rumors pertaining to that little problem.

Speaking of your half-siblings, they have all been married off to distant princes and dukes; besides Elea, Ixara has went through with the bethrothal to Maellian prince, and your half-brother, Matin, is currently engaged to Aguria, daughter of Duke Oro, an accomplished general and influential man at the court.

And if we mention influence at the court, Count Zoria has been like an uncle to you for the past few years. He has been tutoring you in many aspects of the court life and politics. He has even been mentioning that his second daughter, Garden, is two years older than you. You pick up the hints but of course you couldn't agree without your father's consent. Gabrrel so far refused to give you up to marriage, but soon you will decide for yourself.

Quote

They say that you're just like your mother; charismatic and silvertongued, able to convince many to support your ideas and hold your ground in arguments and conversations.

All hail King Amet of Kastoria! Hopefully your reign will be long and prosperous.

440 AEC, Spring

First thing to take care of, just as Count Zoria has told you, will be the perusal of Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

And here comes the Advisor, holding said scrolls in his hands. He lays them down on your desk.

The prosperity of the regency unfortunately was marred with the outbreak of blood plague that has ravaged the coastal lands between Aroserema and Albarra after the wars.

Other than that, everything is fine!

Few days afterwards, Count Zoria approaches you after midday meal.

"Greetings, Amet, I mean, King Amet! My daughter is still waiting, and has her hopes high for becoming your devout wife. You've seen her and can attest for her beauty, so I ask you. Do this old man a little pleasure, and let me call you 'son'."

A) "Alright then, I shall marry Garden and become her husband."
B) "I have more important things to consider right now than marriage, apologies."

You declare that one part of the Army will be under command of the Marshal, the other under command of Duke Oro, the man behind the plan.

Your husband seems dejected (if not a bit hurt), but the court nods in approval of your wise choice.

425 AEC, Late Winter

You lay in the bed for the third hour in the row, staring at the dark ceiling of the bedroom. Suddenly, your husband, who was sleeping - or so you believe - stirs and turns to look at the ceiling as well.

"Is this love, Arina?" Gabrrel asks. "Or are we doing this out of marriage obligations and adherence to the faith?" You consider what to say to him.

Quote
Tails

You're not sure if you care to answer, though.

You say nothing, and soon he turns back to his side of the bed.

425 AEC, End of the Year

You stare outside and don't notice when the Advisor enters the room for a while.

"Your Majesty?" You notice his presence when he lays down the Scrolls of Kingdom Status on your desk. "Here are the scrolls."

Happiness: 4
Population: 4
Economy: 5
Army: 4
*Navy: 4

These are good numbers, and nothing there is to help these in any way.

426 AEC, Spring

With some trumpeting going about the capital, the Marshal and Duke Oro leave the city walls to fulfill the most holy mission of reconquering Aroserema for you and Kingdom of Kastoria! You and your husband watch them from the high tower of your palace, your hand gently patting your belly that has begun to swell once again.

The levies gathered by your nobles have bolstered the numbers of the Army to twelve thousand, split into two forces of six thousand men each.

426 AEC, Mid-Spring

Great news arrive from the front!

Not only have the navies of Maestrimar are nowhere to be found, the military strength of Aroserema is grossly inadequate to deal with your invasion. Martin Gurpilla have managed to raise only four thousand men, most of them militia. It seems that he haven't had enough cash to procure more men despite the conflict being inevitable from the start.

The first battle against Martin's forces was a great victory, and half of his men were sent to the House of the Father, while your casualties were negligible.

426 AEC, Late Spring

Good news from Aroserema arrive daily; Martin Gurpilla was slain and his supporters have barricaded themselves up in their capital city (his son Nil is said to have disappeared). The forces led by Duke Oro have captured several important keeps in the western half of the rebel territory.

426 AEC, Summer

Sieges in Aroserema continue.

It seems that the trade in clothes between Xane-Peon and Albarra have begun to be directed through your lands. Whilst Xane-Peonians are your friends, the Albarrans are not.

"We could do the Albarrans some economical harm by putting a tax upon their merchants traveling to Xane-Peon through Kastoria, your Majesty." Says Count Pirijo, one of the Treasurer's friends.

A) "A one-time tax will put them in check and fill our Treasury in the same time. It's a good idea!"
B) "That will only make us some enemies and their merchants will take to the sea. I won't do this."

You sanction the reconquest of Aroserema, and the nobles cheer. It's hard for you to see the few who don't.

"I shall lead one army, if you allow me, your Majesty!" One of the nobles stands up. "I, Duke Oro, volunteer!"

"Our Army has a Marshal." Some other nobles point out. Suddenly, out of nowhere, your husband stands up as well.

"I shall lead one army as well." Gabrrel says, and the nobles go silent. "It's my duty to lead our soldiers to glory." The nobles murmur and whisper, for they neither saw this coming nor they seem to have trust in your husband's commanding skills.

Who shall lead the forces?

A) The Marshal, duh. That's his job!
B) My husband will lead one of the armies.
C) Duke Oro will lead one of the armies.
D) Both my husband and Duke Oro shall lead; the Marshal can go on vacation this time.

You ask them to repeat what they said. Some of the courtiers look at you suspiciously.

"Duke Oro said that we would call our levies and split the forces into two large groups, and fall upon eastern and western parts of Aroserema simultaneously. The royal navy would in meanwhile keep the coasts secure and look out for any Maestrimari fleets. If we're swift, we could retake the rebel lands before end of the next year.

A) "That is a sound plan. Let's do it."
B) "No, we need a year or two more."

MF Bone Apart vs HMS Doggo:
DC5 Main: 1+1-1+1-1 = 1 < 5, miss!
DC2 Secondary: 3+1-1+1-1 = 3 < 5, miss!
DC4 Tertiary: 2+1+1-1+1-1 = 3 < 5, miss!

Despite best tries by gunners on board MF Bone Apart, the barrage only damaged the surface of the sea, not their target.

It takes quite a while longer than a 'moment' for you to get to the chambers where the nobles are gathering.

You don't pay much attention until one of the nobles turns to you.

"What do you think about the plan, my Queen? Shall we send the troops to Aroserema at the very start of the year?"

A) "Can you repeat the strategy first?"
B) "Alright, it's time for us to crush the rebels!"
C) "No. We need more time."

You decide to sponsor the festival to alleviate peoples' spirits!

425 AEC, Winter

You feel numb.

How can you express your grief at what has happened tonight? You craddle the towel-wrapped body of little Arrat, who was found by one of the servants in his little bed, breathless and lifeless, just minutes ago. What cruel illness or malady has taken away his soul from you this early? The palatial healers only shake their heads as the nurses sob quietly in the corners of the royal chambers.

Your husband, although burdened himself, tries his best to console you. The priests and matrons try to lift your spirit with talks of inevitability and fragileness of human life. But it's not working.

All the colors seem dull now; all the sounds seem like silence; all the happiness in your life - gone.

Congratulations! Arina gained the depressed negative trait!

425 AEC, Midwinter

You stare at the illuminated book, a collection of fairy tales of the common folk of Kastoria, when a bedchamber maid enters.

"Your Majesty, the council of nobles is willing to convene and discuss with you the matters of punishing the rebels of Aroserema."

A) "I'm too busy right now."
B) "I shall be there in a moment."
