"Please stop humming!" You yell at the thing.

In just a single moment, the rope stops dangling, the pinkish thing disappears from your sight, and the humming stops.

Now what?

A) Time to go back to the bedroom and catch some Z's.
B) Yank the rope down.
C) Wait.

4608
You step up the stairs, the humming noise getting a bit louder as you ascend.

You pass the closed doors of the first two floors, moving all the way up to the top floor.

You open the door and enter, seeing absolutely nothing or no one present. All you see is a piece of rope dangling in the wind - wait, there's no wind. The air is cool and still, yet the rope dangles.

Only after much concentration and squinting, you notice some pinkish 'thing' dangling from the rope. You make an outline of white, thin wings and delicate legs, thinner than a straw.

The full image of the being escapes you; your eyes hurt when you look at it and your head pulsates in pain from the constant, loud humming inside your brain.

You decide to...

A) Smack the thing away with your hand!
B) Leave at once and call in the exorcists!
C) Order it to stop humming like crazy!

You give Duke Jigon the command of the combined forces, wishing him luck and glory.

Surely the numerical advantage on his side will earn him a victory, right?

Right?

411 AEC, Late Summer

Quote
5*

A month later news reach the palace - he was victorious after all! About two thousand of the peasant force was killed, the rest having fled. General Pilon was captured and executed along with the village elders and officers under his command. Out of the over seven thousand Kastorian loyalist soldiers, less than a thousand failed to return home.

Duke Jigon returns to the capital a week later, to a parade and cheering of the capital's folk.

And a week after that, the Drakes abandon the tower that was their nest and forge for the past hundred days. Upon a piece of sheepskin, they present to you a bracelet.

It is of the highest craftsdrakeship. It is made of sky iron, embedded with pieces of Sky Iron ore of varying size, and with a large sky iron clasp fashioned into the image of the Castle Kastoria. The black metal has a cold, dark blue polish to it.

The Drakes look extremely proud and pleased with the result.

"The Stars were in good alignment and the spirits imbued the bracelet with much magic. It is a good craft." The nod and hiss in agreement as their leader steps forward and bows, presenting the bracelet to you. You take it, immediately noticing that despite being made of iron and with chunks of ore embedded innit, the bracelet weighs very little.

"So, what does its magic do?"

"The Fisherman became chief patron of the bracelet, the Good Star watching from an angle atop the Root of All." You blink, not understanding Drakish jumbo-mumbo at all. "It shall keep your body from illness and sickness, and seas will keep quiet wherever you command a ship upon their waters."

"Does it have a name?"

"Afondawl, Calm River." You put it on your right wrist and raise your hand for all to see. You don't feel any difference or strange feeling though.

The Drakes collect their bearings, the money they've earned for their work, and fly away north-west-northernly, to their home aeries of Cbran.

411 AEC, Winter

Here it is again! This annoying, low, droning, melodic humming inside your ears, whenever you pass by the stairs leading up this particular tower...

It all begun somewhere in Mid-Autumn, you reckon, when you had a sleepless night (you should stop indulging in honeycakes this much) and wandered about the castle, visiting the library, the temple, and then having a walk through the corridors.

The tower that is producing the sound - heard by nobody else - is one of the towers that was once used for storage, but recently its rooms were abandoned after the roof started to leak after the recent rains. You've sent few guards and servants over past month, but they've all came back saying that they saw nothing suspicious nor saw any instrument or item that could produce humming.

You stare at the stairs leading upwards, not sure what to do.

A) I better find some exorcists and purge the tower from all those humming demons!
B) The tower must go - we shall take it apart and send the rubble away from the palace!
C) How about Lycwl the Adventurer? Maybe I will earn a magic blessing or something up there!

Actually, let's make it even simpler with 1 on 1 duel of Dreadnoughts?

Yes, this should be good to test combat mechanics. We can do with balance and team fights later!

"Fine, we shall fight the rebels! But the royal army is small, I need soldiers and a bold man to lead them!" The nobles talk about the demand amongst themselves, until one of them stands up.

"I am Duke Jigon! I shall lead the men of our King to victory against the rebel scum!" Others gathered at the table shout in agreement.

"Yeah! Duke Jigon shall crush the rebels!"

"Give him command over the troops, my liege!" You discuss with the courtiers a little more; after a while it is settled that your vassal nobles will provide 5000 troops for the coming battle against General Pilon and his rebels.

You still have to decide on this matter, though!

As for the amount of soldiers provided...

A) "This is mighty army that will crush all those that oppose it!"
B) "Those numbers are not enough! I want more from you!"

As for Duke Jigon becoming commander of the army...

A) "May he lead us to glory and victory!"
B) "Nay! I shall lead the Army personally!"

Let's play Battleships in a forum game format and with math involved.

Obviously it means its no longer Battleships but something totally different. D'oh!

We won't go big for this test game, so it will be 1 on 1, both Players having 200 Resources to spend.

The game itself shouldn't take long to complete - at least I think so.

You decide that sending a letter will be the best way to solve this problem.

The nobles of your court disagree and that's why later that day you meet with them at the table.

"My liege, we all respect your skills at diplomacy and negotiation." Says one of them. "But every time someone defies you, you wish to parley and beg with them."

"That is true!" Another raises his voice. "We ought not to parley with rebels and criminals! Instead, the peasantry should learn their place with a show of force!" Others murmur and nod in agreement.

"We implore you, Your Majesty, that this time blood of the disloyal scum is spilled to fertilize our fields!"

A) "Fine then, we will fight them in the field."
B) "You must provide my Army with your soldiers, though."
