Oh noooo

4637
You decree that money shall be sent to the affected villages.

410 AEC, Winter

You're reading a book at your study when you hear it. A low, continous whistle that picks up on volume.

Then, through the window, you see a flash of light and a thunderous explosion, although there's little of exploding dirt visible.

The commotion at the castle caused by the strange (and startingly loud) occurence goes on for a while before some men arrive, having braved the area where the explosion came from.

"Sire! A rock has landed into a crater on the fields outside the city! The rock is black and bears speckles of blue ore!" Some of your wiser couriters as well as some advisors murmur between each other, before the Advisor steps forward.

"My liege, it seems that some pieces of Sky Iron have been delivered upon our soil! It is a rare occurence, and the metal fetches lots of value upon the market, and can be fashioned into powerful items of magic and sorcery. However, the clergy of the Mother and Father would gladly sacrifice the ore upon the altars, so that the gods would protect our nation from catastrophes and general bad luck!" You rub your beard thoughtfully.

"Who in this age and place can create artifacts from Sky Iron?" The Advisor nods.

"The Drakes, the closest living at Cbran, for a price, and of course after lots of work. Would be a trifle thing to make for a Witch-" Your courtiers grumble at the Advisor, who falls silent.

A) "Good luck and prosperity is what Kastoria needs. We will sacrifice the ore to the gods!"
B) "We need money, and if the ore can bring us some, we shall sell it."
C) "A Witch! Surely this is a good idea. Find me a witch, then!"
D) "Send the messenger to the Drakes of Cbran, I would love to see what their artificers can accomplish."

4638
You decide to donate some of the Treasury's money to help rebuild the capital.

410 AEC, Autumn

The natural world sure isn't friendly to Kastorians this year. First the summer earthquake, now torrential rain and floods that inundate the coastal farmlands!

The most affected villages are washed away by the waters, and their crops and livestock are destroyed. Many face hunger and even starvation, and the governors and elders are sending letters to you, begging for money to buy grain for the coming winter.

A) Sorry, I've already donated enough this year.
B) Of course, I cannot let my people go hungry.

"Because- ah." Cedric looked at Eloise and others.

"Right, we should be going. The sooner we're done, the sooner we're back, huh? Everyone ready I hope?"

4643
You decide to explain yourself.

You end up outside her bedroom. You decide to give her some time instead.

Hopefully, measured in weeks, not months (or years).

410 AEC, Summer

The money is sent to Satorias and Maestrimar.

410 AEC, Midsummer

As you eat the dinner with your beloved second wife, suddenly you feel the vibrations of the ground. Then the walls rumble. Then the whole castle is shaking!

Earthquake!

As usual in this situation, most of the people go out onto the streets or courtyards, and same happens to you family and you.

Quote

There are few bruises when you and your wife tumble down on the floor due to all the shaking, but the worst comes from the broken leg of your little boy Kemen, who falls down the stairs. The healers take care of him quickly.

Rubble gets strewn across the yard and you see guards yelling as the quake tosses them off the walls and towers. Over the walls you hear the screams of the citizens of the capital, as well as intermittent, thunderous rumble of a collapsing building or two.

Then, as quickly as it came, the earthquake is gone. People sob, stable animals neigh and moo, and all is tranquil again.

410 AEC, The next day...

The Governor arrives at your study with a preeliminary report on damages to the capital.

"Your Majesty, the damage was terrible across all the districts, but it was the temples and houses of trade, the largest stone buildings besides the palace, that suffered the most. I've talked with owners and they all bemoan that repairing or rebuilding the lost buildings will drain their pockets of money. I suggest that the Crown donates money to the people of the capital to help with the reconstruction."

A) "Sorry, ain't got the money!"
B) "Sure, we can donate some money to help those in need."
C) "I will donate lots of money to show off my generosity and benevolence!"

Hasbun, the chef extradordinaire, is ready to embark and provide the army with much needed nutrition!

For extra twist, make Hasbun female.

As for the place, name it Pearl Harbor. Bonus points if there are actual pearls to gather.

4645
You concede to the marriage with Abene, Duke Circo's eldest daughter. The noblemen of the council are relieved and joyful.

"Do not worry yourself with preparations, my liege!" They stand up and bow. "We shall prepare a feast worthy of the First Marriage!"

410 AEC, Mid-Spring

All the proceedings go smoothly and rather fast. Two weeks after your approval, Abene is delivered to you - a tall girl with ample assets, wide hips, and a shoulder-long, plain hair. She is cheerful and loud in character, and very energetic in her movements. She is almost half your age, too, and it shows: your bearded, rugged face looking like a worn-out plank compared to the smooth silk that is her smiling face.

The feast is something spectated by the entirety of the capital, as the procession to the Temple of Mother and Father goes from the palace, through the trade district, then by the main avenues and to the Sacred Plaza, before you finally enter the temple in silence and with your wife at your side only.

The solemn priest, flanked by a male and female acolytes, praises the Father and Mother, and asks them to protect you two, who will follow unto their steps to create a Family and to produce the Children.

As you leave the temple, the crowd erupts into cheering! Everyone gathered rejoices and screams good wishes and prayers to the patron gods.

It's then when you notice a huddled man springing forth from between the citizens, a shiny blade in his hand!!

It all goes so quickly. You feel the stabbing, you hear the screams, and you see two burly black creatures strike down the assailant with the their heavy maces.

Then comes darkness as your counsciousness slips into the void.

410 AEC, Few days later...

You wake up, and open your eyes, immediately feeling a numb pain in your abdomen.

The many candles lit across the room provide lots of light but confuse you as the place looks unfamiliar because of them, but from the furniture present you reckon that it must be your bedroom. After a moment, a rather familiar face leans over you - it is The Advisor. He sighs.

"Father be praised! You're awaken, my liege. This is most fortunate..."

For the next fifteen minutes you're briefed on the situation: the assailant was a local butcher, grieving for his brothers whom he lost to the Velason's Uprising, for they seeked glory under his banner. Tipped off by that lead, the Spymaster and the orcs went on an investigatory spree, capturing several more of Velason's supporters or people who held a grudge against you. As many as twenty people were captured and executed for the crime of collaboration to treachery.

Your wife was shaken, but unharmed in the attack, the butcher's knife having struck only you before the assailant was captured.

410 AEC, Late Spring

After lenghty recuperation, you decide that it is time to consummate the marriage with Abene.

It didn't last long - not that you weren't ready, her beauty more than enough of a stimulant - but because you had the unfortunate accident of whispering the wrong name into her ear when you two were getting it on (Xmantha sure lingers in your heart, it seems!).

Sitting at the edge of your bed and massaging your cheek, you dare not look at your wife. You can hear her huffs and grumbling, though, and her fury is almost palatable.

You decide to...

A) Explain to her that it was a honest mistake, and that you're sorry for it.
B) Do nothing, it's best to just let her cool down and forget the issue.
C) Do nothing... but prepare lavish gifts to be delivered to her bedroom tomorrow!

4646
You decide to not go overboard with your expenses, and spend the money on festivities and shipbuilding.

410 AEC, Spring

The salt brings some profits, while the jewellry sells exceptionally well! It seems that your noblemen (to nobody's surprise) do love them shiny trinkets made with silver and gems!

The council convenes once more, and for a very valid - for them - reason. Your noblemen are very concerned about the future of dynasty.

"My liege, your late wife has borne you three children, of which only two remain. A healthy and hearty monarch like you should have at least twice that amount to be sure of their's lineage continuity." Says one of them.

"We've already discussed it with the clergy, and the high priests have assured us that the Mother and the Father would agree for your second marriage if it is for the noble purpose of expanding your family." Says the other.

"We could send messengers abroad, mayhaps to Xane-peon or Maellia." Says the third, before adding, "But a beautiful flower of our own kind is ready for marriage. A girl five years younger than you, called Naia, the sole daughter of Count Pejoz. She is of tanned complexion and raven-black hair, and lots is said about her passionate character." The noblemen murmur and nod amongst each other.

"Duke Circo has also expressed his offer at binding together the royal family with his, and his two daughters, Abene and Zurine, one seventeen and the other fifteen, could become your wife too."

A) "Sorry, but I'm not done mourning yet."
B) "Alright, send the marriage offer to Count Pejoz. I shall marry his daughter, Naia."
C) "Alright, inform Duke Circo that I shall marry his eldest daughter, Abene."
D) "Alright, inform Duke Circo that I shall marry his youngest daughter, Zurine."

@Eloise:

"You're forgetting my name's Godfried, Eloise. Go already."

@Markus:

There were no map ready, for lack of supplies and skilled mapmakers led to the rebels working only on hearsays and oral knowledge.

@Sylvianne:

Cedric looked behind himself, and stopped quietly.

Doing exactly what was needed to have the book-reading armor mage bump against him.

"Sylvianne, is everything okay?"

You have the 'fire attack' panel twice, the first one is the out of order one ;v

4649
You agree to have the jewellry sold to local Kastorian nobles and their families.

409 AEC, End of the Year

As you look out through the window at the dark skies and the roofs of the capital's houses drenched by rain, you wonder if this is an omen of something terrible to come. After all, The Mother cries when one's future is doomed!

Fortunately, you're taken away from this gloomy thinking by rapping at your study's door. The Advisor has come, bringing the Scrolls of Kingdom Status with him. You walk back to the table as he lays them down on it, the candlelight helping you read.

Happiness: 3
Population: 3
Economy: 7
Army: 2
*Navy: 1

"My liege, with the population of the Kingdom as it is, the tax exempt is letting many families avoid providing our Treasury with money. The Treasurer predicts that we will be losing money until we simply get more people to tax."

"The money from the nobles have given us a surplus for future spending. Our Army and Navy could do well with greater numbers, and people expect to get some relief from the recent years of instability. Some festivities are in order, no?"

As for increasing military numbers...

A) "Nah, we only need more land forces."
B) "Nah, we only need a stronger fleet."
C) "Sure thing! We will build up a mighty force in no time!"
D) "There are more important things to spend money on right now."

As for festivities...

A) "Sure, let's throw some parties and make the people happy!"
B) "I would rather not spend all the money we've got right away."

4650
You decide to have the malachite and ores made into jewellry, that shall be then sold somewhere for hefty profits.

Along with the Treasurer and the nobles, you sit down to decide where shall the jewellry go. Obviously, you could sell it abroad, but your nobles are indignant at even hinting that.

"My lord, the precious malachite and silver jewellry will be the pride of your Kingdom's aristocracy! Selling it abroad would be like selling royal jewels for petty coin. Instead, let us buy it from you to decorate the necks of our wives and adorn the robes of our offices!" The gathered courtiers all nod in agreement.

A) "Sorry, but I dictate the Kingdom's economy here!"
B) "Alright, the jewelry will be sold to Kastorian aristocrats."
