Thanks to some peasants who took our clueless heroes down the road, they've discovered three more shops - two weaponsmiths and a fletcher.

The Captain noticed the commotion.

"Niels! Stop touching the statue! You might break something."

4713
There was a soft crack, and the nose of the statue fell off.

Savior of the Empire, we

BLESSED BE HER SOUL

The statue itself was of a tall woman with flowing hair. She wore a majestic, flowing dress, yet her breast was adorned with a cuirass. She had a stern gaze but soft smile, her left hand placed on her waist, her right one resting on the pommel of a large longsword.

Truly, she must've been a great warrior and revered monarch to have such a statue built for her.

"Let's go then."

~~Chapter 2: Not-So-Usual Traveler Woes~~

An hour later, in the forest between the university and Blumhart city...

Captain and his investigators were walking through the forest, and were approaching a stream, with two small bridges hoisted over it. On the other side, where some already where, was a large, imposing statue of a woman in royal regalia, with a small dedicated headstone in front of it, with a pile of fresh flowers laid at it.

Continue westwards.

You decide to direct your troops against the leaderless masses!

The battle is joined within few hours!

Quote
5*

The initial phase of the battle goes more than well. Your troops move into the ranks of the militia and deal tremendous damage to their numbers!

The cavalry on the flanks did little to stop the brutal destruction of the rebel troops.

Quote
4*

The remainder of the rebels is being mowed down by your soldiers, but the battle is already won. Every rebel who's still able to flee, is fleeing southwest.

A) Chase them down and burn wherever they hide!
B) Time to pursue Velason and his guards!

Just played the new update for ~4 hours.

It's fun, and the retro 80's police drama in SPEHS vibes are definitely there. I mean, the soundtracks are full on electro/club/techno remixes of already existing songs, like the one used for investigations is Grand Pagoda, but electronic! Have one example!

You register via a Peacekeeper's poster in the Outpost, then go to the station coordinates you are given, and talk with spiffy police Peacekeepers Officer Noble (a Novakid with eyepatch). Via bulletin board on the station, you can grab sidequests to hunt down criminals and mutant beasts.

You hop around the systems, knocking down members of a gang before going after their leader in a stronghold (non-procedurally created this time).

Once down, you hop to another police Peacekeepers station. There's a bookmark button for Peacekeepers, allowing you to quickly find and navigate to it on the starmap.

Each new busted gang gives you access to improved station, which includes an expanding vendor from lvl2 onwards. It sells riot gear, pistols, and the like, with some fancy clothes included, and some other gadgets, like mining drones.

You ask the agent to convey the orders to your loyal courtiers - talk and convince the doubtful ones to abandon their troublemaking.

An hour later, a scout arrives bringing news.

"Sire, the pretender has despatched two thirds of his Army, militia and spearmen and what little cavalry he had, to battle you. He himself has taken the rest and is moving back to whence he came." Your officers are clamor for battle - the leaderless troop in front of you will not be must of an issue.

You decide to...

A) Retreat! We can't risk losing our army here in combat!
B) Fight the masses, and then pursue the pretender.
C) Send half the Army to fight the militia, and take other half to chase Velason.

Any occupied territories are claimed when Winter phase starts. So just keep your army there.

4721
After buying their equipment and supplies, and having found only 4 out of 11 shops available in the capital, the group moved on to gather when the Captain Astleich asked them to earlier.

He was already there, patiently waiting.

"Ah, you're here. I assume you're ready to move out?"

You declare that you will personally see Velason's head chopped off!

Congratulations! King Lycwl has embarked on his first military campaign!

During his absence in the capital, the Advisor and other courtiers will manage national affairs.

You lead the Army out of the capital, and the citizenry gives you unsure stares. Are they plotting, worried, hoping? Who knows.

407 AEC, Mid-Spring

Just as your scouts report that Velason's 'army' is stationed over the hills to the west, one of the Spymaster's agents visits you in your tent.

"Greetings, sire. There's a situation developing in the capital."

"What kind of situation?"

"Sire, the Spymaster and the Advisor have recently learned that there's a faction of courtiers that is talking in the side corridors and dimly lit rooms about abandoning you and finding their fortunes under someone else's banner. The Advisor is asking whether we should use bribes, dialogue or force to deal with the disloyal schemers."

A) "Purge them all!"
B) "Bribe them!"
C) "Convince them!"
D) "Leave them, we've got more important things to worry about."

4725
You order the high taxation to be upheld and part of the Army dismissed, their gear and wages re-sent to the Treasury.

407 AEC, Spring

Quote

Salt caravan means hard profit.

However, there's a potentially dangerous situation developing in the southwest!

A young man called Velason has risen against you, with some of your so-far-loyal noblemen pledging support to him! Citing your terrible choices of the past, high taxation, oppression of peasants and inability to protect the Kingdom from evil and enemies, he has gathered a troop of nearly four thousand men (mostly city militia and armed peasantry), and has swore to either overthrow Lycwylian dynasty, or die trying.

You must dedicate all your resources against him, else all is lost!

Congratulations! An usurpation rebellion is underway!

If you will be unable to keep the capital in your hands, or you will get killed while Valeson is still active, your dynasty will crumble, and the game will end.

Good luck!

War council gathers, because such an armed uprising, backed by peasants and nobles alike, cannot be treated as anything but proper army.

"Sire, there's nothing but send our Army against Valeson and try to cut his vile head off!" The courtiers and officers alike nod in agreement.

"The question is, whether you wish to lead our soldiers against the pretender?"

A) "And get killed in the first skirmish? No, thank you."
B) "Nobody stands in my way and lives! SADDLE MY STEED!!"
