You agree not to pry further.

"Then a deal has been reached." The woman turns around and slowly walks out of the throne room.

403 AEC, Mid-Autumn

Incredible news arrive from the northlands! The Witch that you've hired appeared before the monstrous Hydra one noon, and as the peasants put it, "day became night and rain became fog." Then seven thunders came from the clouds, splitting open each of Hydra's seven heads simultaneously. The reptile was dead within seconds.

Three days later, in the same way as before, the Witch appears at your court, and the guards let her inside your throne room.

"I have fulfilled my part of the deal. The Hydra is no more." She places her hands on her voluptous hips.

"The payment I shall take from you is the flesh and blood of your firstborn son." The courtiers gasp and yell angrily as your wife collapses to your knees.

"Your Majesty, please don't allow her!" She begs as you gaze at the Witch - for as far as you know, neither you have any children, nor your wife is pregnant at the moment.

One way or another, your part of the deal must be fulfilled. You decide to...

A) Haggle with the Witch.
B) Accept the Witch's demand.
C) Order the guards to kick the Witch out.

4772
You ask about what kind of payment it is supposed to be.

The Witch laughs, and the laughter, albeit quiet, causes the castle to rumble. The strange woman then points her left index finger, adorned with a nail sharp as a tooth, at you.

"Because its still early in the game, I shall warn you - never again ask me or any of my sisters this outrageous question."

A) "If I can't know of the payment beforehand, I have no need for your services. Shoo!"
B) "Alright. Whatever you want, it will be yours.

@Shae:

"Well. Nothing will change if you won't try hard to change it." He took Shae by the chin and made her look him in the face, and he did his best to smile a bit.

"I believe in you. You can do it, I'm sure." He gave her shoulder another pat.

"Thought if you think it's better if you stay at the manor, I can talk with the Captain."

@Team:

"Yes, exactly." He turned to Simona.

"Miss Simona, I see you're carrying a staff. That's very good, we've been lacking a person skilled in healing magics."

4775
@Shae:

The Governor sighed and knelt in front of his daughter, reaching with his hand to rub her tears off.

"My little dove. I'm sorry, I should've told you about his arrival earlier, but I was too busy with my work to discuss this with you." He stood up and then placed both his hands on her shoulders.

"And please do not think I'm sending you off as a punishment for your recent... outbursts. Adventure builds character, the scholars say, and I think a mission like this will only do good for you." He patted her shoulders gently.

"Don't you agree?"

@Team:

"During this one day we were out of commission after the explosion, the Governor's agents managed to decipher the papers. It's a shopping list, more or less."

"It includes names of several suppliers of magical tomes, staves, potions and enchanted items. All of them either working or living at or near the Goveron University. Just a moment before Siegfried's waking up, we've received information that classes at Goveron have been suspended, on the order of Archibald Bonefaz, the current rector of the academy, without explanation."

"The Governor and I believe that Bonefaz is the leader of the supply operation for the rebels, and the recent destruction of the hideout at the catacombs caused him to panic. With the students away, he and his staff might be destroying evidence and contraband even as we speak."

Sophia stood up and moved toward the window, still clutching on her staves.

"Joachim is dead. He has been murdered. Someone tried to kill me - twice. A-And I'm supposed to be running off to hide in the palace again?" The Princess took a deep breath and took a step toward her two most trusted retainers.

"I'm not going back home. At least, not until I find the ones responsible for these heinous crimes. Joachim must be avenged, and I shall d-do it personally. Is that understood?"

4777
The Governor looked at Siegfried, then Shaelynn, and Siegfried again.

"Ah. Mister Jubastacheit, wasn't it..."

"Another reason against sending her along with my team."

"Enough, Captain. We've spoken about this, and I've made my decision. Shaelynn is going with you to investigate the recent activities of Goveron University and deal with Bonefaz." The Captain shook his head.

"As you wish." He turned to Shae. "Miss Shaelynn, you will accompany us as representative of your father, in case local nobility will be unwilling to cooperate with us. Your servant, Miss Simona, is also going to provide you a personal guard."

"May I speak with Shaelynn briefly?"

"Alright. I will brief the team in the meanwhile." The Governor quickly grabbed Shaelynn by her left arm and led her away from the tables.

"Shae." The bearded man let out a sigh.

"..." The Princess kept staring at the ceiling wordlessly.

Then, she sat up and moved her legs off the bed.

"I'm not going."

4779
"Shaelynn Peritz!" The General shouted from above, and started hastily walking down the stairs, with the Captain in tow.

"What is this shouting about? Explain yourself, young lady."

4780
"Hmph. By the time they will decide on anything, I will be long on the sea, doing what I do best - privateering."

4781
Suddenly, there was shouting above their heads.

"That's extremely dangerous, Governor! I can't agree!"

"Captain..." Claus realized that they were discussing things outside, and walked into the room where Siegfried was previously resting, with Captain following.

You tell the Advisor that there's no other option.

Just a week later, one of your couriers happens upon a Witch! She is immediately brought over to the Palace.

The scantily-clad young woman is of marble-white skin and black hair, as if she hailed from the snowlands far to the south. A wonderful bird, with feathers of all colors of rainbows is perched on her left arm, while a big, pitch-black cat sits by her bare feet.

"My services have been requested, and so I am here. I sense what I am supposed to do, but I must ask first, per divine laws. What is required of me?"

"You're to slay the Hydra!" You explain, as the woman's bright blue eyes give you chills. "The one that is ravaging the hamlets in the north of my Kingdom."

"It shall be done. And once it is done, I shall claim my payment. Is that understood to you, mortal?"

A) "Whatever you will want, it shall be granted!"
B) "First tell me what it is."

4783
Ethan barely managed to not grin.

"I meant your height, obviously. Plus, if any noble dares approach me, I have a way to get them in their place."

4784
Ethan turned his gaze on Gawen, and gazed away from her face.

"I just realized how much less formidable you look when out of armor." He chuckled. "And smaller in many places, too."

4785
Just in that time, Ethan finished dressing up in 'proper outfit for Alvadan Royalty', and left the chambers to meet with Gawen, Lysander and Claude. Ethan sighed out loud and turned to glare at Claude.

"This outfit is ridiculous. The fabric... it itches." He grumbled, and immediately fished a finger under the collar to scratch himself. "Simply the worst."
