You convince them to forego their King's orders and instead establish commerical trade of all three goods through Kastorian markets.

The merchants nod, impressed by your wit and charisma.

"We will clear this with our King, but we can see that rejecting our deal will only result in a loss to Xane-Peon." They depart, already debating how to convince King Anreu to accept your proposal.

Next, the envoy from Kingdom of Satorias arrives. He bows curtly before you.

"Greetings, King Lycwl of Kastoria. My master, the great King Xon III, is willing to provide your Treasury with half of the silver bullion our mines produce for the next six years."

A) "That is an absurd price for such a wealthy and populous area. Begone, lest I feel offended!"
B) "That is simply not enough. Your master will have to pay more."
C) "That's a deal!"

You decide to meet with the merchants from Xane-Peon.

The fat, bearded merchants enter the throne room, wearing dark red and blue fabrics, with the emblems of the Black Ship emboidered on their shirts. They bow their collective heads in respect to you.

"Greetings, King Lycwl of Kastoria! We're on behalf of our master, King Anreu, to establish trade deals with the new regime of Kastoria. Even before Arrat's rule, the merchants of Peon traded in multitude of wares with the wealthy Kastorian peoples. He wishes to reestablish the old ties, because commerce fosters friendship."

"We were allowed to sell either salt, or expensive fabrics, or copper, to your peoples."

The Treasurer chimes in. "The price of salt is most stable, while fabrics will need to be sold to the noblemen, which might not be profitable sometimes. Copper can be smelted into bronze, and bronze made into weapons of fine quality."

A) "I'm feling generous! I shall buy EVERYTHING you offered me!"
B) "Neither of these trade goods interest me. Is there anything else you can offer us?"
C) "Our nation could prosper from having a steady supply of copper."
D) "Salt is used by all the peoples, both commoners and aristocracy. We need it."
E) "Fine fabrics will net us fine profits, wouldn't they? I want them!"
F) "Neither of these trade goods interest me, nor does any trade with Xane-Peon. Return to your master at once!"

You decide to throw some money to sponsor festivities to keep your people happy.

401 AEC, Spring

The guards arrive at your throne room to announce that you've having quite a few guests who want to talk with you today.

A delegation of merchants from the Kingdom of Xane-Peon is here, wishing to offer your peoples fabrics, salt and quality copper for your Army.

There's also a trio of envoys from Satorias, who're here to negotiate for the freedom of the people of Albarra province.

A) Xane-Peonians should've checked my schedule first! I'm meeting with the long-awaited Satoriassi envoys right now!
B) Merchant deals are easy to do, and once we're done with Xane-Peon, we can concentrate on the important matters - like Albarra deal!

4865
You decide to counter the letter with an offer of monetary compensation for your supposed parting with Albarra province.

400 AEC, End of the Year

As you lay in bed with your Queen, enjoying the cool breeze of the coming new year, you hear rapping on the door.

Soon, the Advisor himself steps inside the bedroom, carrying with him some giant scrolls.

"My liege, I've brought the Scrolls of Kingdom Status for your review."

"My liege, the people are somewhat unruly at the moment. There has been no revolts or such, but its best not to keep people's mood so low. Therefore, mayhaps we should sponsor a year full of festivities and revelry to ease their minds?"

A) "No, we need the money more than their loyalty."
B) "Sure! Wealth we can buy, happiness - not really."

Rowan found a small glade on the corner of the road leading outside

The funeral of Joachim was a solemn, quiet one, for Princess Sophia was still asleep from her fainting and thus no one could officiate the occassion. The distant roar of the flames was almost insignificant. As all were watching Rowan place large stones over the fallen prince's body, Albrecht was staring at the fire, the blaze of arson reflecting in his eyes.

Then, just as Rowan placed the last stone, a thunderous rumble came from behind the group.

The entirety of the Lichteisen summer villa gave way under the weight of rubble. In a plume of black smoke and ash, the construction collapsed inside itself, burying all the slain soldiers, servants and mercenaries underneath it.

You understand the allegory quite well.

Next morning, much to her excitement, you announce that Xmantha will be your Queen!

The court takes the information quite well. It's not hard for them to accept it, after all, you're not quite exactly of noble birth either.

The simple ceremony takes place in the coming weeks, presided over the Priestess of the Mother, who blesses your marriage.

400 AEC, Midwinter

A letter has arrived from the Kingdom of Satorias, located southwards along the coastline.

In the letter, King Xon III demands that you retrun the Albarra province to the rightful claimant, that being Kingdom of Satorias.

The Advisor along with few courtiers politely remind you the situation of Albarra; it was once a city-state with strong ties to Satorias, once even governed by Satoriassi princes, but neither them nor Kings of Kastoria were 'bold' enough to annex the territory so that they won't provoke the other Kingdom into the war.

Then came Arrat, who threw the delicate balance into the air, seized Albarra, purged it of Satoriassi symphatizers, and shortly aferwards defeated King Xon II and then his son, King Jago II in a war that took place when you were a child. It's populous area filled with many cities, populated mostly by Kastorian peoples, adherents of brothers Dogu and Katte, rather than worshippers of Mother and Father.

No doubt, hearing of Arrat's downfall, the royal family of Satorias decided to make a move.

A) Fine, we can part with it. But how much do I get from the giveaway, though? Surely they don't think I will simply turn it over.
B) They can take it after they pry it from my own hands!
C) In the spirit of friendship and cooperation, let's give Albarra a status of free domain once more, but we won't give it to the Kingdom of Satorias.
D) Let's be generous and give the Province of Albarra to the Kingdom of Satorias.

You decide to combat the starvation and buy food from abroad.

The attempt proves a failure. Food is of course procured, but is distributed at irregular basis, angering the populace. The Treasury suffers because the vile merchants, wishing to profit from your Kingdom's suffering, artificially drive up prices.

400 AEC, Winter

Xmantha, the maid that you've taken as your mistress, curls up against your side, her large breasts caressing your arm. She has been suspiciously silent for a greater part of the evening today.

Finally, as its time to fall asleep, she lifts her head.

"My lord, do you know the tale of Princess Alaya and Sir Garail?"

A) "Isn't it that epic one where he overthrown his King just to marry her and make her his Queen?"
B) "Isn't it that bawdy one where they snuck out every night and later she bore him a child?"
C) "Sorry my dear, I'm not very good with fairy tales."

4869
A - I wonder if we'll have the opportunity to restore he family's land and property. And anyone else who the last king did this too.

Sidequests??

In my SPAMKINGDOM!?

Who knows.

You decide to pursue her 'on the side'. You have no wife and no family obligations of any sort right now, so why not have some fun?

400 AEC, Autumn

The torrential rains that begun in the second half of the Summer have continued for too long, and many fields of cereal and vegetables have been pulverized. The harvest has suffered considerably and starvation has already shown up amongst the peasants living in some of the Kingdom's settlements!

You decide to...

A) Buy grain and foodstuffs from abroad to feed the hungry.
B) Do nothing, as you cannot spend money left and right every year.

You agree to buy services of High Orcish sons and youths as personal bodyguard detail.

"As you wish, hooman king. We now depart, and next year in this time, we will return with your guards. Be ready to give us the gold we want." The delegates salute you with open palms, and then leave.

400 AEC, Summer

You simply cannot pry your eyes from her. She is beautiful; that waterfall of curly black hair, those sparkly blue eyes, the marble skin marred only with that rebellious black spot in the very centre of her left cheek. Her image is that in which you sink your eyes very often since you've assumed the throne of Kastoria.

And you can't help but notice that she turns her eyes - and her smile - toward you more often than any other maid at the castle.

Now for the bad news: she is only a servant at the castle, having been employed by the old tyrant after he confiscated her father's family property. Once a noblewoman, she is now considered a commoner, having no land, wealth, or connections to speak of.

Not a good marriage prospect, but then again - you're the King here, and you have succession to consider!

A) How about we start slow and see where it takes me? I don't need to marry right away!
B) The King marries whomever he pleases! She shall be my wife.
C) The King should not mingle with disgraced nobles-turned-commoners. It's bad for publicity.

"...Name's Ethan." The Captain stepped inside, and crossed his arms.

400 AEC*

Glory to you, Lycwl of Kastoria!

The vile Arrat, tyrant ruling the Kingdom for the last twenty years, have been slain by you and your companions, who rebelled against his oppression. You're a charismatic man, and your co-conspirators have chosen you to lead the Kingdom into new era!

Kastoria is the land of rolling hills, fertile fields, gentle bays and prosperous peoples. One good thing that can be said about Arrat's taxes is that the Treasury is quite filled at the moment.

But the populace, the noblemen and the clergy of Ane and Eder, The Mother and the Father, are all content with removal of Arrat. They hope you will turn out to be different after all.

The Advisor, one of the few honorable and trusted men previously in Arrat's employ, brings you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

The Scrolls are dotted with some strange numbers and the Advisor speaks about them in some poetic nonsense. Oh well, time to start working!

The Orcs have arrived!!

A delegation of High Orcish diplomats has entered the capital city, and made their way to your stony keep. The bald, scaled, rough&tough envoys are clad in the usual attire of High Orc nobility - black fabrics adorned with bone, horn and pearl. High Orcs, compared to the Low Orks, are noble and civilized disciples of Dogu, but at the core they're still fearsome warriors who do not shy away from fighting.

"Greetings, new hooman King of Kastoria. I am Zork. We here on behalf of Great Lord Żrt, who wishes to make a trade." The Advisor leans to you and reminds you what the High Orcs deal in: foot soldiers, and bodyguards.

Foot soldiers are often poorer High Orcs, or those of Low Orks that were civilized enough to reason and seek mercenary work rather than simple rape, pillage and destruction. These footsoldiers were oft employed by human nobility, although the recent trend sees Humans use human armies instead.

Bodyguards are sons and grandsons of important High Orcish nobility and government officials. These young, but strong and fierce warriors require yearly compensation, but many a King have been saved from assassination or won against the enemy with just handful of High Orcs at his side. And for these High Orcish sons and youths, there's no better return to the homeland than with reputation as an acknowledged and successful warrior.

"Great Lord Żrt knows that you are of the new blood, and that you might make a good partner of business. So what it will be, hooman King. Do you wish for soldiers or guards?"

A) "I will gladly strengthen my army with orcish blood!"
B) "How about we trade some money for resources and goods instead?"
C) "I need no services of no Orc, so please leave."
D) "I will gladly employ some fierce orcish warriors for protection!"
E) "Why not both? I have plenty of money to spend!"
