A return to the roots, filled with feudalism, wilderness, quests, magic, horrors and wonders.

You guys have to fill out this:

Name: this guy will be known as 'name the First'.
Name's trait: Martial, Charismatic, Wise, Healthy, Lucky
Kingdoom's boon: Happiness, Population, Economy, Army

And that's all. Rapid-fire updates to the status of the kingdom, Name, and Name's sooner or later coming (most probably sooner, and under very tragic circumstances) descendants: promised!

You order a retreat of the Army from the battlefield, so that your forces can regroup.

This allows you to form ranks, establish the lines and position your cavalry at the flanks easily. By the time the Damdamians arrive, your officers and your trops are prepared for another combat. You learn that about four thousand of your soldiers are missing, presumably wounded, dead, or having ignobly fled from the field. That leaves you with about twenty thousand to command.

Still, the army is ready for the fight!

First, you hear the Damdamian battle horns.

Then you can see the Damdamian banners - there's so many banners fluttering above Damdamian troops. They're marching fast, their own horsemen in the far flanks. The large squares and the thick lines advancing upon your position make it clear that the enemy has the numerical superiority - mayhaps even as much as 2:1 against your forces.

The officers are asking what to do now.

A) "Run, run for your lives!"
B) "Onwards, to death or glory!"

You decide to take your army and maneuver so that you fall on flank of one of the enemy armies, with the other being far from threatening you, at least momentarily.

The maneuver is executed brilliantly, even with Caius quickly catching up with what is happening. Your cavalry falls upon his flanks and your main force marches forth! Caius forces are out of position and for the initial engagement, you shall have the advantage.

With fury and determination befitting the most fierce of lions, your soldiers hack away the Damdamian heathens like scythe cuts down grain during harvest. The flanks are bottled down by your cavalry, whilst your pikemen and firetubers move through the central ranks of Caius' army. For every fallen Methiantese there's at least several of Damdamian corpses surrounding it!

From top of your horse you can see that the remaining enemy Army is smaller than yours, and the difference of numbers will surely be a boon to you! You press on, hoping that this will be the battle to end the war.

The battle continues, your soldiers taking more and more of the battlefield from the Damdamians. Your officers point out the Damdamians banners in the rear, retreating haphazardly and leaving their more courageous compatriots still fighting.

Enemy numbers dwindle rapidly, and that's when your scouts bring ill news; the other Army is but few moments from reaching the battlefield. They've managed to arrive much sooner than anticipated.

Your officers murmur that if you decide to continue the battle, you will face more than thirty five thousand troops total, most of them well-rested and quite prepared to kill some northern heathens.

A) We cannot retreat! We must press on! I can feel the taste of victory!
B) We ought to retreat for now, lest the Damdamians drown us with numbers.

Albrecht gave it a little thought.

"This Lodewik must be apprehended, I agree. Wouldn't it be more prudent to send riders from Ondeviik, though? They can get there within a day or so, and I would rather not leave Princess unattended or split our already small group."

4880
"Sadly, no. The Lichteisen family holds are to the east, near border with Herzgottia, and my status does not get me many important friends."

"We still need to decide where to go. if I'm not mistaken, the city of Ondeviik is to the southeast from here? The city has a garrison, we could request help from royal troops, there, or at least send a message to the capital."

4883
"Right. Lysander, Claude, Lavinia, Ashlyn." Ethan pointed out each of his crew.

"This is Amberly and Fer, she's a nun and they're both scholars..." He turned to the two magicians, then to Marlow.

"The green one is Marlow. He is our, err, scout."

"The round knight is Gawen and her bodyguard with the staff is Angelica." Ethan scratched his nose.

"The white one is Vortai, I think, and the last one is... Maria, right." He counted up his group, and rubbed his chin.

"...Huh. Alright, sure." He mumbled to himself, looking only slightly surprised.

4884
Ethan furrowed his brows.

"You too have gone crazy, huh?" Ethan sighed, rubbed his temples, and looked at Paon.

"Fine, just, just let's go."

4885
"Look, it's a whole bunch of coincidences. Just like coincidentally I've got the pendant when I was a kid. You need confirmation if I'm a king or no? Here we go." Ethan turned to Gawen.

"Gawen, am I a King, yes, no?"

The Captain turned around the corner, his sword ready, as he flanked the door, sipping from a bottle of medicine in meanwhile.

Siegfried, in the meanwhile, felt much better now.

Ethan let out an exasperated sigh, but unclasped the necklace from around his neck and passed it to the old man.

"Don't break it, or I will get angry."

4888
Ethan crossed his arms.

"You've left us to tell him how to fake surprise very well, or something?" Ethan stared at the old man. "Name's Ethan, and I don't know you, mister."

The thief fell down after the stab.

The noises around the corner made it clear that all element of surprise was lost, though.

"I guess there's no use sneaking about anymore."

Venza quickly found an open door. It led outside, of course, and from there, the dirt paths indicated that it was well used to go from here to the gardens on the back or to the courtyard in the front. In front of Venza there was the wall that surrounded and separated the manor from the woods.

No doubt the thieves left through this door, and escaped the area long, long ago.

Crashing noises behind Venza indicated that the corridor he came through probably wasn't available anymore, too.
