EDIT: Uhh, you forgot to list ECD as being owned by Parsia. Parsia owns 9 Supply Centers, not 8.

Thanks, is fixed ;v

1: How are the Hurthlings doing? We haven't heard much about them in a while so I'm kinda curious what they've been up to. Have we finally seen some progress in getting them to spread around more in the Empire? Please don't tell me our Hurthlings are doing bad.  :'(

2: What have the Parsians been up to while under our rule?

3: How do the Dwarves view our Empire/Emperors currently?

4: What's the Dwarven opinion of those treacherous Damdamians [Including Eldrican]?

1. Like Weirdsound said, the plague killed off majority of them, and they're on road to extinction.

2. Plotting your downfall I presume.

3. "Less stubborn than usual." I would think, I'm not sure.

4. This should be two questions really. About Damdamians: They dislike them, but taught them not to mess beards up. About Eldricans: Being non-Damdamians, they're valuable trading partners and amicable neighbours.

But please ask more lore questions instead of question of current geo-political situation, this is not the thread for that ;v

You decide to sign the deal. The Overseers murmur something happily in their strange language.

Over the course of few hours, the cartographers are given dwarven construction and territorial claim maps, and you in meanwhile write down a lengthy document - in two copies - about passing of the territory to the dwarves. As you glance over the territorial claim on their map, it seems to not be any larger than Zasitost, already perched on the other side of the mountains. The future Dwarven Hall is to be called 'Emeden', whatever that means.

The digging, tunneling and laying of foundation will begin in few weeks; the payments will be delivered each Spring, starting from the Spring of year 1218 AD.

After you add the royal seal in red wax upon the contracts, the Overseers add their own coat of metallic wax, shiny like silver but smelling rather foul. One copy is carried off into the royal archives, the other is put into an ornate wooden box that the Overseers' servants bring in.

"It is nice to know that not all monarchs of your family are as stubborn as the tales go." Am notes in your language. "We will inform the High King of your cooperation and willingness to do business, I'm sure he will be quite happy to hear of this." Dobar adds afterwards.

They refuse to overstay their welcome, similarily not willing to do any further business. They depart along with their entourage before nightfall.

1217 AD, Summer

All of the Palace is putting on mourning veils, for a tragedy happened; your sister Aina, after giving birth to Duach's son, Bjern, has caught a fever the night afterwards and swiftly perished. Some accuse Duach of murder, which is absurd, and some curse the Cup, which was supposedly to protect people from illness. Duach himself is cursing gods of Pantheon for taking Aina from him, and promised to spend his family's wealth on decorating her tomb in the royal catacombs as lavishly as possible.

But as courtiers mourn, the councilmembers and advisors meet. As much as you're in pain and mourn the loss of your elder sibling, you have to decide on the heir to the throne of Methiant-Cydwyl.

After the recent souring of relationship with the Eldrican, your courtiers seem unwilling to accept anyone from Hein's royal family (that meaning Feir, Sigurd and their children, and Rubert). Other than that, the noblemen seem to be pretty divided on the issue.

Ultimately, the heir to the throne will be...

A) Your eldest son, Luthas.
B) Your eldest daughter, Segeda.
C) Your youngest son, Yoe.
D) Your youngest daughter, Aife.
E) Your mother, Queen Mother Wilhemina.
F) Your aunt, Cylia.
G) Your aunt, Queen Mother Ciri of Helliste.
H) Your cousin, King Brynwald of Helliste, son of Ciri.
I) Your cousin, Astrid of Helliste, daughter of Ciri.
J) Your cousin, Brynwalda of Helliste, daughter of Ciri.
K) Your cousin, Alfdis of Helliste, daughter of Ciri.
L) Your great-half-uncle, Deathan.
M) Your half-uncle, Duach, son of Deathan.
N) Your half-cousin, newborn Bjern, son of Duach.
O) Your half-uncle, Houlandin, son of Deathan.

You attempt to persuade them to tell you why the land is worth so much to their High King.

As you speak, you can feel the dwarven necklace's weight increase and its metal go cold. Obviously, it doesn't work against its creators - possibly a very thoughtful precaution.

Still, after a little bit of persuasion, one of the Overseers is willing to explain.

"It is because the rock and soil underneath are very promising for cultivation of shrooms and roots that we use in our cuisine. What is infertile land above means plenty of nourishment for under-dwellers like us. Even with no crops grown aboveground, the Hall and its inhabitants would have full bellies." Dobar explains.

Despite your wisdom and knowledge of all things, you cannot be sure about the dwarven farming practices when it comes underground. You're plenty sure the soil and rocks are as important to their farming as it is to those living above.

If there is any other reason they think highly of the soil in the east, it eludes you.

A) "Fine, I accept the deal as is. Always a pleasure doing business with High King Katinarag and his envoys!"
B) "No no no, a good trader never parts with his goodies without some barter beforehand. Let's negotiate!"
C) "This deal is insulting to me, for I'm not a cheapskate selling away my domain parcel by parcel. Away with you!"

You decide to meet with the dwarven overseers.

The duo, wearing gold, purple and white, walk in the front of the lengthy procession of dwarves. They wear square hats adorned with ropes of silvery beads hanging down like curtains. They have thick beards, definitely dyed pitch-black, or otherwise oiled - no beard shines as much as Am's and Dobar's. Their guards and servants are plainly covered, the former in plate armor and the latter in softly-toned clothes and cloaks.

The one of the two Overseers, the slightly smaller and thinnier one, steps forward.

"Greetings, Emperor Houlandin III of Methiant-Cydwyl. I am Dobar. This is my colleague, Am." Am bows his head slightly. "We're here on behest of High King Varsaalath Katinarag, who wishes to see the might of Dwarven people spread further east, for we've heard that untapped mountains and unclaimed lands lie in that direction, with peoples of savagery and wealth that our King would like to get his beard on."

"Therefore," Am interjects,"High King Katinarag wishes to purchase some land in east of Methiant-Cydwyl. The area in question lies at the end of Tiftit Valley, the slopes of the mountains nearby rolling down toward the inhospitable, sandy deserts of Waterless Plains. Our prospectors and stonemasters already visited the area, and has decreed that the rockbed is good enough to support extensive mining and tunneling."

"As for the price," Now Dobar speaks again, "High King Kathinarag is willing to forego the current loan you have to repay to our bankers. Furthermore, he is ready to pay you in gold and silver, equal to what your gemstone mines produce in span of two years*. The payments would carry on for next thirty years, and would be delivered by dwarven caravans from Zasitost."

Am hides his palms in the sleeves of his robes before adding: "We've for long time experienced stubborness and brashness of Yoean dynasts, and while we have been given a leeway to negotiate with you on the purchase price, we propose that you accept the deal as is. It will be easier on all of us."

A) "No no no, a good trader never parts with his goodies without some barter beforehand. Let's negotiate!"
B) "First of all, you will tell me how some nondescript, barely inhabited lands on outskirts of fertile valley are worth so much."
C) "Fine, I accept the deal as is. Always a pleasure doing business with High King Katinarag and his envoys!"
D) "This deal is insulting to me, for I'm not a cheapskate selling away my domain parcel by parcel. Away with you!"

You decide to issue Bill of Rights, giving the commoners a chance to protect themselves from injustices and oppressive rule of aristocrats and the like.

1217 AD, Spring

Helliste travelers bring interesting news from far east; it seems that some sort of war is going on in Rosamana, but conflicting reports make it impossible to determine if its foreign invasion, a civil war, or mixture of both.

1217 AD, Mid-Spring

A delegation of dwarves have arrived. They're headed by High Overseers of Ankurvat and Zasitost, Dobar Zunkolath and Am Shovarshovast. Along with them, there's about three dozen of guards and equal amount of servants and scribes.

It can't be anything but an extremely important diplomatic mission. Soon enough, as they stop before the gates, a dwarven runner brings word: High King and The Council of Dwarven Halls are trying to expand further west, and want to build another Hall on Methiantese territory.

You decide to...

A) Tell them that you're short on time lately, and dismiss them.
B) Let them in and hear the details of their proposal.
