...Unbeknowst to them, a certain old man called Lodewik was by now talking with two shady personas at the back of his house.

"Princess?"

"It was her, yes. Couldn't mistake her for anyone else ever if I wanted to!"

"...then, soon, we strike."

With the preparations complete and the village of Gevarren behind their backs, Princess' and her bodyguards were now entering a forested area. An 'Old Gatehouse' marked the ancient boundary between Old Herzogttia and Angeborten, but as the latter gained lands on expense of the former, the borders shifted, and the old outpost stopped being of importance.

Nowadays, as the Gevarren villagers mentioned, it marked an 'unofficial' boundary of the lands belonging to Lichteisen family; from there, only few hours till the Lichteisen summer estate... if Sisters' are willing, they should arrive before dusk.

"Oh, look, look everyone! This must be the Old Gatehouse... or whatever is left of it." The Old Gatehouse was a ruin; while the main watchtower still had all of its stories - and even the roof - intact, the main gateway and walls were in near collapse, offering little protection or hiding places.

The young scholar could feel a surge of heat emanating from his palm when the etched pebble landed there. A very strange and peculiar pebble, this one...

"Um, no, no I think we will, we will be resuming our journey now..." Princess Sophia bowed her head to the scholar and walked towards the door.

"I will tell you, it's the necklace that once belonged to Sigurd the Mighty, son of Sigismund himself! Look at the etchings in Old Herzgottian Runic script! Legend has it, little Sigurd got this pendant from Sigismund as birthday present, and had it since childhood, and its magic made Sigurd into that tall, strong giant that every legend speaks of! Bending iron bars, lifting cows!"

"Ooh..." The old scholar chuckled, seeing Sophia's reaction.

"You like it, miss?"

"It's a bit costly, however..."

"Just for you, I will drop the price by twenty coins!" The Princess gasped.

"Really? You will? Wonderful! That is so nice of you. I'm sure Joachim will love it! May Sister Kato bless you, mister Lodewik." The Princess stopped, however, and looked expectantly at Priscilla, wordlessly 'asking' her knight to buy the pendant for her.

"Oh, come on right in then!" He opened the door wide for his new clients.

What would be main hall of a house was instead cluttered with shelves and boxes. Several items were on display, including few tomes that both Johannes and Venza recognized as spellbooks. Oddier items, like polished skulls, jars of unknown substances and woodcarved figurines were also in plain view.

Lodewik made his way behind a small counter he had set opposite from the door; behind him, few chests, with heavy padlocks, were sitting on a table.

"Vulneraries! Spellbooks! Fertility idols! Lodewik the Great has them all!" His stock - excluding various mundane items and curiosities - was limited and of some quality.

The price tags, however...

Few seconds passed until the door opened slightly and an elderly man, with pointy hat, and curved, shiny, grey beard poked his head out. He eyed all of the group and each one by one, before squinting.

"Guests or buyers? I have no time for the former." His voice was akin to a squeak.
