I can't help but note that the last civil war we had in Methiant was 99 and half a years ago.

About time we had another :P

You address the gathered noblemen.

You tell them, that YOU are the EMPIRE, and that their political squabbling cannot continue. They're endangering you, they're endangering the Empire, and they're endangering the very people whose interests they apparently represent.

You declare that they have to submit to you, the Emperor, for you're the absolute authority in this land, and no one else!

The gathered nobles arise as a tumultuous mass, loudly shouting over each other that your demand is unacceptable.

The Shadowranks quickly gather around you, but of course that means ten against fifty plus some.

"The Emperor will listen to the nobility of the Empire!" They cry aloud. "If he will not, we will decidedly take the matters in our hands!"

A) "Then you're no longer a part of my Empire, traitors! Get them boys!"
B) "Rethink what you're talking about, and kiss my royal signet at once!"

You ask the merchants to stop complaining and man up; this is the first year of the deal, and there will be profits in the future.

They talk as if you've just let them die off in a cataclysm. Their grumbling makes noblemen grumbling, and soon your whole court is loudly complaining that you are putting Methaint on the course toward economic ruin.

People get somewhat angry, and your authority scores a hit.

1212 AD, Midwinter

And speaking of Emperor's authority...

The council of nobles has convened and you were called in because they have a single, very simple, thing to discuss with you. It seems that they're worried - Cydwyllians mostly - that the interests of the Emperor might not exactly be overlapping with interests of Methiant-Cydwyl and its subjects. Many of the elder statesmen are even considering whether someone as young as you is capable of keeping power in your hands altogether.

"We must ask your Majesty to delegate some political power to the provinces and the administrators." One of the most prominent noblemen, Tamand Óires, speaks for the council. "It is obvious that the amount of territory to govern, fulfilling the needs of people of the Empire, and maintaining diplomatic ties with our neighbours, and issueing new laws, is not exactly a job for just one person."

Some noblemen argue that new Duchies must be created to allow local leader some autonomy; others, however, drawing an example from Damdamians, are considering whether it would be prudent to create a new council - Council of Lords - which would be taken many administrative burdens, mostly pertaining to economy, edicts and laws of the Empire, upon their shoulders, leaving the Emperor to simply approve or veto their decisions most of the time, as well as have the royal family concentrate on maintaining ties with other dynasties and direct the foreign policy of the nation.

A) Agreed, some new autonomous Duchies will be created, and I will pray that their subjects will be blessed with skilled and trustworthy leaders.
B) THE EMPEROR IS THE EMPIRE! Noblemen have no rights to interfere with our, divinely ordained, rule over Methiant-Cydwyl and its peoples! It's about time I deal with you, traitors!!
C) Now what is this talk? Friends, this smells of treason, and I'm sure y'all overreacting. Let me explain...
D) Fine, I guess it is time for some republicanism to be introduced. I will delegate some of my political powers to the Council of Lords.

You ask Deathan to send his sons over. With help of the necklace, you will convince them.

Surely!

"Cousin, you might be the Emperor, but we have our rights! Either Duchy, or no marriage!"

"I will order you to!"

"We won't listen anyway! She's Damedian! What kind of Methiantese would marry a Damedian?"

"I demand it! For the good of the Empire!"

"You're not our father, so go demand yourself!"

They leave in a huff, and after you calm down a bit, you have to bitterly admit that you just can't force your distant relatives to produce babies with whomever you please.

1212 AD, Winter

Gold and gemstones arrive to fill the Treasury.

Once again, the delicious Springwine sold for a lot of money in the south.

Unfortunately, t'chai leaves failed to sell in Eldrican well and the profit cut your merchants received from their western counterpart made them grumbly. They want to be compensated for this loss.

A) "Geez guys, it's the first year. Stop complaining, you will get rich in a year or two."
B) "Alright alright, I will give you some gold, just stop groaning."
C) "No profits!? Oh no! This has been the worst trade deal, probably in whole history of Methiant!"

It's the new mathematical theorem, didn't you hear? :P

Fixed.

You send the Army to restore order.

Few days later you receive trading reports; Glassware sold very well. There's slight shortage of t'chai leaves compared to demand for them in Methiant, now that half of the bulk is sent westwards; the trade advisors will see whether the tax cut from Eldrican will help much.

The army has crushed the revolt, although there have been many casualties amongst the soldiers and civilians. Hundreds of native Parsians had to be executed.

Few days after the report, Deathan arrives in your chambers with his decision.

"Duach would be more interested than Houlandin, but both have a request from you if they are to marry a Damedian girl."

"That being?"

"You make the married one a Duke of Ceodwell, or maybe Felonsein..." The older man scratches his cheek nervously as you look at him in confusion.

"Excuse me, uncle... what?"

"They're reasoning that Cydwyllian noblemen already have autonomy and priviledges, and it is unbecoming of Methiantese aristocrats, especially from the Imperial royal family, to be landless specks at the court. They want a title, lands, governmental autonomy and all that..."

"Uncle Deathan, I asked you to convince one of them to marry the girl from Tirine, not to ask if they want Dukedoms!"

"Yes,  but, I listened to their pleas and they insisted I tell you and I didn't want to imprint on their liberties..." You rub your forehead in consternation.

A) "Send them over, I will convince them myself."
B) "Fine, I agree, one more Duchy won't make a difference."
C) "Okay, let's just forget about this, it was a bad idea from the beginning."

Dosn't the Alldivine have it's own church militia? We shouldn't have to lift a finger on this one.

Someone 'dissolved' their keeps and took their wealth, so they're no longer able to keep their own militia; all military things they do nowadays is have wandering warrior-priests/martial-arts-teachers who teach adventurers skills for a bit of coin.

6045
You wound me with your unfair assumptions :P

You decide to send some money to the Damedian shrines in Tirine. The Duke praises your open-mindedness and awaits your and Deathan's response to which of his sons would be his daughter's, Lubella's, husband.

Few hours alter, you are underway to Methiant!

And just a week later, you're back safely upon your throne.

As you speak with Deathan, it is clear that he has mixed feelings about further mingling with Damedians.

"I believe Methiantese, no, people of our Empire, should see their rulers as proper and Pantheonist, despite my wife's wishes. Still, this is a request from the Emperor..." He asks for a month or so to talk with his sons and promises to give you an answer by Mid-Autumn.

1212 AD, Mid-Autumn

"Sire! Some zealots are rioting in Parsia!" A young courtier barges into your afternoon swordfighting practice.

"Is it Pantheonists or Alldivinists?"

"Err, no, it's the Elevens."

As it turns out, some of Alldivine preachers have addressed the wrong crowd, for the clerics of Eleven Graces has inflamed said crowd to stone the Alldivine preachers, right in the market square of the southeasternly city of Aimak.

The storning led to riots, and riots led to general uprising of Aimak citizens; Methiantese and Pantheonists, Alldivinists and foreigners, all those who are not Parsian and do not adhere to Eleven's cult are being purged or otherwise violated. The garrison of the city has suffered many losses and locked itself in the keep, unable to restore order, and the fate of the governor of the city, who attempted to flee, is currently unknown.

A) Send the Army to restore order.
B) They will calm down, give them time.
C) I will ask them, in writing, to see reason.
