You concede to both demands, and your father looks pleased.

"Good. I've ensured that proper arrangements are already made in case you relent; a nobleman's daughter from Cydwyl, Wihemina, is four years your senior and is known to be both experienced as well as cool-headed lady, running her father's household while he was sick without an incident. She will be your wife. From what I've heard about her, she will keep you in check easily."

A) Sure, I will marry her.
B) Nooooooo...!

6303
You prepare for the arrival of your dad.

Dad arrives next week and tears right into you.

"DO YOU KNOW the kind of uproar you caused at Cydwyl court? The faction that wanted to keep Cydwyl separate from Methiant is all giggles today. You and your dick ruin all your mother and I have been working on meticuously for years!" You sit there on the chair, blushing, before you speak up.

You only make it worse.

"Look, Doge, I'm not going to let you destroy everything because you can't keep your cock inside your pants. So, you're going to remove Aethlan from your palace and restrain yourself from affairs and relationships until I find you a wife that can keep a good check on you, or at least keep you tired long enough you don't cheat on her. I will stay in Cydwyl and try to calm down my nobles so that they won't throw the inheritance treaty the moment I keel over. Is that understood?"

You decide to...

A) Agree to both of your father's demands.
B) Agree to keep away from random flings, but you will not dismiss Aethlan!
C) Agree to dismiss Aethlan, but you won't have marriage proposals dictated by your dad!
D) Refuse to cooperate on any of these points.

6304
You attempt to reason with her and ask that she allows you to keep Aethlan around.

By the afternoon, she has her bags packed, and whole of the palace knows of your infidelity and your 'love' for Aethlan's loins. Your courtiers are angry, Aethlan's father is ridiculed for having such a careless child (and for letting for this to happen), and Ceodrina hands you divorce paper right before she leaves the palace.

Even outside the palace, people are unhappy, and angry about your affairs. Even priests of God of Love, while pleased with the fact you have multiple pursuits, had to scold you publicly for destroying one relationship to pursue another.

You're sure that your authority as an emperor was crippled.

The replacing and strengthening of currency is progressing smoothly, although some merchants are loudly complaining that they're losing profits because of the reevaluation. Still, no incident occurs.

Few days after that report, you receive a letter from your father, Cyl. He is extremely angry about the scandal at your court last week and is coming to visit you.

A) The King of Cydwyl should stay in the Kingdom of Cydwyl, I think.
B) I better prepare for this confrontation... wear a mail coif or something.

6305
Also, according to the post where we ascended to Emperor, we are now trading gems for furs again. How did that trade do this year?

Uhh.

Uhhhhhh.

<_<

Oh right! It's scheduled for Winter. Didn't you know?

You tell the Spymaster to observe and track the dwarves, but do not interfere with whatever they are doing.

1193 AD, Five days later

When with another screech of your dearest wife a large jewelry box flies in your direction, you decide to just duck away from its trajectory. The poor, decorative box smashes into two against the wall behind you.

You glance at Aethlan, who managed to put on his pants already (that ass, mmf!) and jolt toward the door. But Ceorina doesn't concentrate on your lover, but on you, her unfaithful, horny, teenage husband. You've hoped that you would get some free time with Aethlan and that Ceorina would find herself something to do this morning. Unfortunately, she wanted to visit her husband and, well...

"FIVE DAYS, YOE!" She shrieks, clutching at her hair. "It's been five days since we became husband and wife, and you already sleep with another person!? I should've told my father to listen to reason, but no! And what marriage I've gotten myself into! You will be faithful to me, or I will claim divorce on reasoning of oathbreaking!"

"My dearest..."

"There are names for women who do this!! What name should I call you with then, Emperor!?"

You decide to...

A) Help her out and divorce her first. A wife that raises her voice against Emperor of Methiant is not worth keeping!
B) Apologize with words and trinkets and promises of not sleeping around.
C) Try to reason with her and ask if she can't just accept Aethlan (okay, and maybe few others...) as your 'companions'.

You order all people living near Ankurvat to evacuate somewhere safer.

Few days later, you receive reports on trade.

Glasswork sold in Ysirene very well, although the Treasury got only minor profits from proxy selling of Simian spices to your noblemen. Springwine did good.

Meanwhile, the first of aromatic tchai leaves that arrived in Methiant have sold exceptionally well. What's best is that compared to spices, the dried leaves are sold in compact form, tied and bagged. This allows them to be exported in large quantities, and all but peasants can enjoy the invigorating drink.

1193 AD, Mid-Autumn

It is time for marriage between you and the young Ceorina isn't overtly pompous affair. Most of the courtiers wish you well, and the bride's father hopes that she will bring you many children.

The next morning, the Spymaster arrives to bring you a report on Ankurvat; the walled city continues to emit poisonous smoke, and some survivors were found; apparently, one night, a terrible explosion occured somewhere in dwarven halls under the city, and that's when the smoke began to appear. Dwarves dissappeared from the aboveground just as people began to flee.

Meanwhile, few of Spymaster's agents have begun tracking parties of dwarves sneaking through Methiantese countryside, both from and in the direction of Ankurvat. They're avoiding roads and settlements; instead they travel by countryside, forests and hills.

A) Let's track them all for now.
B) I'm sure they're not doing anything suspicious.
C) Stop, capture, and interrogate them at once!

Obligatory 'webcomic when'
Even your pencil doodles are wonderful. I like the top-middle guy, he is clearly plotting some super nefarious deed :V

Or maybe someone took his cookies and now he's pissed.

You decide to post Aethlan as one of your aides.

1193 AD, Autumn

There is a cloud of purple smoke rising from above Ankurvat! For the past week, people who were living in far-west Methiant complain of putrid smell, toxic air and disease claiming bodies of their relatives. Several settlements worth of people have already decided to up and evacuate deeper into Methiant proper.

The Spymaster contacts you later this evening to inform him that out of six agents he has sent to Ankurvat in past few days, four has gone missing and two have returned empty handed, unable to penetrate the poisonous air.

You decide to...

A) Wait for dwarves to do their work and fix this. It's their problem after all.
B) Buy services of some brave lvl30+ adventurers to enter the Ankurvat fortress.
C) Order all your subjects to leave the area, and send adventurers.
D) Order all your subjects at the border with Ankurvat to evacuate.

I've always had mixed/positive feelings on most of your pieces, Arx, but this one is simply great :3!

Wait how is this still going. That is some serious dedication.

Please free me from this hell if you can. It has no end. NO END ;<;

You decide to accept Ceorina's hand in marriage. The courtier is sent with the reply to the Diplomatic Corps.

Later they inform you that the wedding has been scheduled for Mid-Autumn.

1193 AD, Midsummer

When you lie down on the bed, Aethlan is already caressing your side. This young - barely a year your senior - son of one of delegates of Diplomatic Corps sure gave you a thorough workout in the bedsheets. And to think it all begun with a happenstance bump in the corridors, when this beautiful blonde burglar of hearts dared to smack right into you as you were turning a corner.

Then again, maybe you're just a bit too easy? Or maybe you fell in love with your new boyfriend? It's been six hours till you met him and the seed of you two have already been spilled in copious amounts. Nevertheless, you've found perfect companion; as an added bonus, he can't get pregnant, too.

You turn to lay against him, and he speaks up, his eyes sparkling like diamonds that you cannot pry your own stare from.

"Your Majesty is the only one I need. Can I receive a posting in the palace, so that I can be at your side whenever you wish, hmm~?"

A) -
B) "You will be posted as one of my aides, so you can truly be at my side all the time."
C) "I can give you a job somewhere in offices of the capital city, the palace is just a stone throw from the main street."

You try to negotiate even more.

"I see. I will take your words to the Senate. You may away a swift response to this, Emperor." The Damdamian salutes you.

"May Damed give you long and prosperous life." Then he leaves, and the court begins to murmur.

The courtier with the report comes in next and you read the scroll.

The girl up for the wedding comes, by matrilineal lines, from the dynasty of the kings of Ceodwell. One of her great-ancestors was apparently Ceodwell II himself. The girl's name is Ceorina, and is reputed to be both beautiful and skilled in arts. A marriage like this would endear you to your local Ceodwellian nobility for sure.

A) A good wife from a good home, I'm sure.
B) Ain't my type, no.

6315
You attempt to negotiate.

It takes a while; you learn that once again, Saenn tried to defend himself by tying himself to royal family. Damdamians had none of it and killed him anyways, they've decided to contact you and demand compensation for you're Saenn's relative; that's how Damdamian code of laws work, and the Senate won't let you get away by hiding yourself behind Methiantese law instead.

"The Senate knew that like all Yoeans, you will attempt to negotiate. Very well; you will pay Damdamia a tribute of two metals your country is known for - silver and gold - and the senators will sponsor a mausoleum and pensions for ex-Consul's Marius children and grandchildren with these precious metals."

A) "No, still not gonna work, let's negotiate further."
B) "Are you crazy? Get off my lawn!"
C) "Now, I can accept the demands."
