Because I love Europa Universalis III, and it is a strategy game that can be paused, why shouldn't I do some LPs of it on the forums?

What do you guys want me to play? I modded in Westphalia, Belgium and Yugoslavia as formable nations (easy, tricky and masochist difficulty), and Poland got its own Elective Monarchy (basically Noble Republic on steroids and some political decisions that look tempting only on paper), so I could showcase those? Otherwise, pick me a nation and I will play it. As I tinker with the EU3 code more, new things will show up probably.

The length of game would be 14th October 1399 (standard start game for In Nomine expansion and beyond) to 12th January 1848 (date I extended the game to, virtual cookies for those who understand the reference).

Please do note that while I've learned lots about the game, I'm not an highly experienced player. If you tell me to go play some tiny nation outside of HRE (for example), I will simply say no... then again, I did restore Byzantium and made Ottomans extinct ;vc

Eh, I'm sure we will be fine either way!

Moving on!

Mission 2, Turn 2

The next fifteen minutes were peaceful - until six red pips appeared on the radars, coming from the south. Six Flygun drones were approaching rapidly - the fight of today shall begin right now!

Quote from: Initiative rolls
Flygun D: (6, tied with Lemashe) => 5
Lemashe: (6, tied with Flygun D) => 3
Rein: (5+0.1 = 5.1, tied with Kenneth) => 5
Kenneth: (5+0.1 = 5.1, tied with Rein) => 1
Flygun C: (5, tied with Flygun B) => 5
Flygun B: (5, tied with Flygun C) => 3
Jason: (4, tied with Flygun F) => 4
Flygun F: (4, tied with Jason) => 1
Luis: 3+0.7 = 3.7
Flygun A: 3
Flygun E: 2
Josephine: 1+0.5 = 1.5
Tanks fire last, all of them

Blam! Some fresh paint was scraped off Kenneth's armor as the drones flew from behind the nearby hill.

Quote from: Flygun D vs Kenneth
Hit: 85+6-6 = 85
Hit roll: 83, hit!
Damage: 18-17 = 1 damage

Cortana scoffs at you.

"You want me to up the dwarves? Fine." Cortana Tigereye asks for a bar of iron, a bar of lead, and a bar of copper; these are easily provided by the palatial smiths.

She has the cyclopi bend the lead into shape of a circle, while the copper is melted down and then crushed into tiny speckles by the fiery dog's breath and paws. Then the iron bar is snapped into three pieces by the cyclopi. The flamingos then swoop everything in their beaks and deliver them into hands of the Sorceress.

She takes a breath, which causes the air in the throne room to visibly recede toward her mouth. The blows into her hands, causing a nobleman-toppling, furniture-flying gust of terrific wind. Everyone lands on the floor, and nobodty sees the magic of the Sorceress at work because a blizzard of bright golden snow engulfs her and then the entirety of the room.

Once she is done and the gold snow dissipates, there is a pitch black candlestick in the Sorceress' left hand. She holds it rather triumphiantly, and the candle on it is as if made of bronze, and the flame is an unusual one; it is dark blue and rather than pointing upwards, it is as if hugging the knot and the bronze candle - not a speck of material is melting however.

Slowly, Cortana approaches the throne and hands you the candlestick, and your fingers both freeze and sear on the tips in the same moment. The candlestick seems as if made of metals, but it is as light as a piece of rolled fabric its size would be.

"What item could be it be?"

Cortana snickers at you and brushes her hair.

"Candlestick of Weather. The fire neither burns nor can be extinguished."

Sorceress Tigereye then conjures up a scroll, which lands in the Treasurer's hands. He blinks several times at it and then at you, before moving up to you.

"No need for whispering, of course the price is higher than usual. Also, I must tell you, that we, the Sorceresses, have noted that you like to employ our services, and that you have Treasury full of wealth to share. Now, I want my part of it."

A) "May I negotiate a price down?"
B) "I refuse to pay such an exorbitant price!"
C) "Of course, you will have your riches."

As for the type of the artifact...

B) An armor piece.
C) A jewelry piece.
D) An article of clothing.
E) A piece of furniture.

As for the area of effect...

A) 'Wielder' only.
B) Local area.
C) Entire kingdom.

Have court wizards ever been a thing in this worlds history? I'm kinda curious because we've given the choice to offer a place in our court to wizards to pay for their help before if I remember correctly.

No.

Just because you were given that choice doesn't mean a Wizard would accept it (aka it was to road you toward epic quests).

It has occured to me that we will be slowly approaching a conundrum where everyone just defends ad infinitum their supply points v:

Suggest solutions pls? Restrict to 2 actions total per Player maybe? This way you have to economize your orders and talk your rivals away from grabs more. Good, bad?

"I will consider the Wizards' warning."

"Very good." The owl then flaps its wings and takes off into the night sky at the speed that should be not possible to any bird, let alone an owl.

1182 AD, Late Summer

Sorceress Cortana Tigereye is here! Riding her devilish fire-breathing dog, she leads her entourage of grotesque steel flamingos and slugbears, all chained and leashed by the hairy cyclopi. This horrific cavalcade enters through the gate, and then straight into your audience room, the monsters eyeing your servants and growling, only to be whipped by the cyclopi.

The Sorceress, a dark-skinned beauty with sapphire-blue hair and golden eyes, dismounts from her dog whole sprawls on the floor, its rear paws sprawled backwards and its tail wagging happily as acidic drool drips from its maw, sizzling on the stones.

"I am Cortana Tigereye, Lady of the Hammer of the Brightest Star, Mistress of the East, Conqueror of Shazalam and Captor of Ar'kut the Creator. I have heard that this petty kingdom is in need of Sorceress' services, so here I came, readily offering my magic for your wealth. What it is that interests you this time, Empress Ruberta?"

A) Ask for an artifact... (details to follow)
B) Ask for a spell that will scare fanciful creatures away from the kingdom's borders.
C) Ask for prosperity and growth for the Kingdom and its populace.
D) Ask for a mighty beast to be bound as your pet/mount/guardian/something like that.
E) Ask for wisdom about many things.
F) Ask for skills of elite battlemaster.
G) Ask for charisma and silvertongue.
H) Ask for endurance and better health.
I) -
J) Ask for a spell that will make your soldiers stronger.
K) Ask for health and prosperity for your family.
L) Politely explain that you must refuse her services, because of certain, owl-related, reasons.

Now that we've had access to orcworld for a while, and have been sending troops and scholars through, how well known is the portal?

Is it common knowledge in Methiant? Do our neighbours know much about it?

People know about it, others know about it, nobody bothers because they're sure Methiant won't let them in. The 'new world' hype has kinda died off, especially when the toxic dust storm and sealing of the tunnel happened.

You consider who - or what - could've sent a magical talking owl.

"Are you messenger of the Sorceress?" The bird hoo-hoo's in agitation, flapping its wings.

"Foo-l! I am messenger of the Wizards, and I bring a message from the ones concerned about your wellbeing." The bird flies away from cranellations and perches on the tiled roof of the tower. It is clad in shadows, its eyes glowing golden.

"In your pursuit of magical trinkets, you're letting the chaotic powers of Sorceresses run wild around the place."

"I'm not exactly sure what you're implying, bird." The owl hoo-hoos at you again.

"You're treading on thin ice, is what would a human say. The more you associate with Sorceresses, the thinner the ice gets. Pay attention it doesn't crash under your weight."

A) "I'm afraid of nothing, silly bird!"
B) "I will consider the Wizards' warning."

6463
You decide that having a religious majority can't hurt. In fact, you could use that to your advantage (and so can the Pantheonist high clergy).

1182 AD, Midsummer

During this quite warm evening, you decide to walk around the top towers to enjoy the breeze and look at the perfectly cloudless, star-lit sky.

The peaceful moment is ruined because some owl perches on the cranellations and looks down at you. It is silvery with tips of its feathers being black.

"Aren't you a greedy one, hoo-hoo." You nearly backflip due to this unexpected talk from the damned feathered ball of fluff.

A) Evacuate from the tower immediately.
B) Stare back at the impertinent owl.
C) Try to a start a conversation with the wise bird.

6464
Clearly, the boy is weak and easily pushed into obedience. Good for you in general, mayhaps not so good for him, if he ever gets into position of power that's it.

Congratulations! Deathan gains meek negative trait!

1182 AD, Summer

Interesting report arrives from the court Priest.

It seems that over the years, the influence of religions other than Pantheon has been steadily dropping. More and more Methiantese subjects embrace the old faith, worshipping the myraid of Gods and Goddesses. Whole families, who were once devout Alldiviners or Singularists for generations, return under the Pantheon umbrella, receiving a warm welcome.

A) As it should be.
B) This is troubling.
