You tell the Treasurer to hork over the money.

Three days later, you feel that there is someone getting upset over the solitary confinement of your womb. Cyl is not here yet (he is developing an annoying habit, isn't he?), but you guess the babies aren't really good enough at being patient. It seems your husband is going to miss this one too.

Never a dull moment with them. As you feel the contractions and pain of these mount up, the maidens take you to one of your bedchambers as healers are called and brought in, too.

Tails

After another few hours of discomfort, pain and crying, finally, the fruit of your labour gives off its first shriek. Everyone is happy that the chld is well and alive, considering its a slight bit early, and you pat the healing stone that, since the first time, has been - as a precaution - kept by your side. Surely its the work of the stone.

Now, it is the time for the greatest and most important of celeberations in the eyes of the Priests of the God of the Family - naming of the child!

What it will be?

A) Ciri.
B) Esta.
C) Kayra.
D) Morgan.
E) Eirike.
F) Eiri.
G) Sela.
H) Elana.
I) Gwynna.
J) Edda.

I dunno what's weregild is so it's not in Methiant either ;v
Weregild is basically a fine for murder. It is the monetary price of a life.

Oooh.

Dungeon for non-royal murder, execution for regicide (funnily, this is the merciful of the two). Attempted or successful, doesn't matter in Methiant.

You decide that the banner would be a nice addition to the collection of artifacts growing in the Treasury.

"Then our runemasters will descend into your dungeons for hundred days, where they will toil with metals and jewels till they are finished."

Contracts are made in two copies, for you and for dwarves, and the prospectors will return to coincide with completion of the artifact.

Glasswork in Ysirene returned only small profits this year, merchants report.

1180 AD, Winter

Silver, gold and gemstones arrive in the Treasury; the glassware is sent to Ysirene.

The dwarven prospectors return just as the smelly runemasters leave the dank prison cell they were working at.

"What your mines are mining today is the amount of minerals Methiant has. All the metals, precious or otherwise, jewels and fine sand suitable for glassmaking, they are all exploited already."

The runemasters unwrap the long bronze shaft from the old rag they had covered it with. The shaft is two-and-half meters long, and is made of bronze, but has a shine as if waxed to perfection. A small eschutcheon on the top, made with silver plate, and the green and red eagle of Yoean Dynasty is patterned from all kinds of gemstones; peridots, rubies, sardonyxes, red amethysts, green opals.

The Advisor leans in to whisper.

"How we shall proceed, Lady Empress?"

A) "We shall get rid of the dwarves with help of a razor or two!!"
B) "They finished their work, and must be paid, such is order of things!"
C) "I shall ask them to postpone the payment for the artifact."

//I forgot the Winter stuff and glasswork sales, so event is redone ;v

//For sake of the game and simplicity, I've decided that Jason waited so that he can now try the Bonus Task too.

Josephine scanned the area...

...and a warning blip came up! A small Martian Dragonfly probe, masking its radio emissions, is perched on one of the ruined buildings.

It must've picked up being scanned, as it took off into the sky - it's trying to escape!

Mission 2, Turn 1

An hour later, the convoy was long underway, but so far there was no enemies near it. Various giant maggots crawled elegantly along the heat-blasted landscape of southeastern Britain, as various old listening and recording devices on fortified posts and ruins of buildings were dark and silent.

You decide to commission an artifact and have the lands prospected.

The dwarves consider for a while.

"We propose to forge you a magical staff of a banner; any flag hoisted upon it would inspire the loyal troops to do better in combat and fight their best to protect their monarch even in the worst hours of combat."

A) "Our Army is already excellent, it requires no tricks!"
B) "Something else, maybe? This one's not really interesting."
C) "That's it? I think I will settle on just prospecting, thank you muchly."
D) "Yes."

With 2 x 24 stacks of Westphalian troops and some few thousand allied troops, I've successfully fought Austria the Emperor of HRE, grinding through its 11 x 20 stacks and 400k manpower till white peace. Patience and extraordinary generals was the key.

Few years later, Karl II von Hessen of Westphalia was elected the new Holy Roman Emperor, while Austria wails in shame, its lands now ravaged by nationalists, revolutionaries and heretics.

"That is true." He switched the holovid from the new dronebot to a big map. The very western tip of Britain was flashing red.

"At fourteen hundred hours, the Martians have begun a major assault on the Cornwall's End naval and armor base. It includes several Martian ships, hundreds of drones and they've already established a stable Trans-Gate point on the shore. Cornwall Defense Forces are doing all they can to repel the invasion, but the casualties are mounting." The map changed to a spinning show of several mecha, tanks, trucks and planes.

"Several convoys and air support teams have been already dispatched or are being prepared for dispatch. You will be assigned to Convoy 13. It is comprised of five M-Ap5 and four M-E2 tanks, as well as six trucks; two with munitions, two with electronics, and two heavily armored with classified cargo. The tanks are not the escort - you are. Each tank and truck counts, but our remote spydrones already detected several barricades, patrol groups and we've got reports of drone ambushes and aerial bombardments against previous convoys."

"The tanks will provide some fire support, of course, but remember that you will be doing most of the fighting, and that you're responsible for safe delivery of the vehicles. After you get in the close vicinity of the base, you will be given the order to disengage and return, for we might need to dispatch additional convoys. Get ready and report to the hangar. You're leaving in twenty minutes." He looked at all six pilots.

"And that is all. Dismissed!"

Commander Petersen was waiting inside his office, with two badge-less UNDMF lieutenants and a holovid depicting some sort of Martian bot.

"You've arrived." He waved his hand toward the two pilots.

"Lieutenants Lemashe Aphudovy and Rein Force." He then gestured toward the starter team.

//Lieutenants Lemashe Aphudovy (SaberToothTiger) and Rein Force (TricMagic) are in!

"Lieutenants Tala, Thrace, Augusto and Parley, meet your new squad mates. You will introduce them and tour them around the base most important facilities at a later date, however." He tapped his mobile computer few times, enlarging the holographic projection in the middle of the room.

"This is a new heavy assault bot used by Martians. From what leaked information we've gathered, it seems that its working name is 'Olympus Mons'. Thirtyy percent larger than BUSTERs from ARMSTRONG company. Thick armor, three hardpoints, one of them boasting an armor piercing cannon. It seems the alien bastards have caught up with the fact that our shield technology is lagging and our mecha are getting better and better armor and structural strength instead. The only good thing is that this new Martian dronebot is slow and easily targeted, but considering most of our soldiers are crackshots already, it's low evasion score is hardly a weakness. Our database operators have already uploaded tactical data on Olympus Mons to your onboard computers."
