"Surrender? They drew weapons against us! They can only die."

M21, prepare hatchet.

6542
You say there will be no concession. The Commissioner rejoices, the Gubtan merchants leave unhappy.

The young artist arrives next.

"Greetings, Lady Empress Ruberta!" He tips his hat. "I've been recently enamored with choralist spectacles and decided to bring out actual stories into this new kind of art, and what's better than that of legendary Descent of the Gods? Even the Pantheonist clergy I spoke with were enthusiastic and gave me enough material to compose a story and establish roles for a lot of artists, especially that I'm an ambitious in my vision and wish to include two separate choruses and two leading voices for this choralist piece. However, people expect to be paid for their oratory and singing services, and on suggestion of one of the clerics, I came seeking monetary support from you, oh great Empress!"

You decide to...

A) Not sponsor this blatant Pantheonist propaganda!
B) Sponsor the artist and wish him success.

6543
...Is there an actually Appease the Gubta merchants option? I'm reading "No change" and "Ask the trade commission to find some way to screw even More cash out of the Gubtans" as the two options for some odd reason...

Yes, it's B :v

You either keep it scrooge (A) or give them better prices for their spice. (B)

6544
The Gubtans enter, their gaudily colored clothes swishing on their large bellies.

"Oh, great Empress, we come on behalf of spice traders in Gubta. The money that your merchants offer every year for our marvelous powders and roots is simply a joke! They shield themselves with some Commission that apparently has your support and blessing. While your merchants profit most disgustingly, our merchants cannot even feed their families."

The Commissioner of Trade is brought in, and is told Gubtan complaints.

"I do not see a problem, Lady Empress. Our Commission is to ensure protection for our merchants and establish best profits for the Treasury from foreign trade, and to stop merchants from other nations to profit on our cost with unwelcome practices like price gouging or such. Yearly profits that come into your Treasury from spices, Lady Empress, wouldn't be this good if we would let Gubtan merchants have a greater say in the deal."

A) The Commissioner is right, our profits are the important part in this!
B) Gubta must be appeased; let's make it slightly harsher for them!

6545
You accept the donations and, for another year, do not issue another Edict.

Spring, 1180 AD

As you prepare to leave for Kingdom of Cydwyl to join your husband in the annicersary, the gate guards arrive, bringing news that you have visitors; a young writer of some renown, Gaul Kendrych, wants to obtain Crown's sponsorship for an innovative choral piece he wants to write and present before the court.

The other is a delegation from Gubtan court, here to talk - or rather, complain - about the simply inadequate amount of money they get for their spices and which is apparently throttled by your Trade Commission so that you profit more.

You decide to...

A) Grant audience to the young artist first.
B) Listen to complains of the Gubta first.

6546
Also, the Cartography Division promised a map every year. Are they late or did nothing at all change in our knowledge of the world?

Fixed :P

6547
You decide to visit him for the celebratory occasion.

1179 AD, End of the Year

Compared to previous years, this year came and went really fast - and really peacefully. it wouldn't be bad if this became a trend, don't you agree?

The Advisor promptly arrives in your chambers with Scrolls of Kingdom Status, placing them on your desk.

2to5, -wait why am I rolling for authority, it's already at max. d'oh!

Happiness: 9

Economy: 6

Imp.Authority: +2

"Our Empire is doing pretty well. People near and far praise your name, and some are ready to share their wealth and savings with the Crown, to foster progress within the nation!"

A) "Nah, let them enjoy the coin."
B) "They can build me a statue with that money."
C) "The Crown accepts the donations!"

"Any Edicts this year, Lady Empress?"

A) "I will pass."
B) "Yes, let's."

"The Cartography Charter has produced a new version of the map." You look at it - nothing has changed.

Your god demands monetary sacrifices ;V

You send the Treasurer off with the Sorceress so she can pick up her money. She leaves after an hour, her grotesque servants carrying your wealth in their hands and other appendages.

1179 AD, Midsummer

Terrible storms struck east and north of Methiant this year, with hail and thunder a common sight in these parts. Fortunately, the damage is minimal, which must've been Scepter's work, as guards report it was shining very strongly during the stormy week.

1179 AD, Autumn

Springwine was shipped this year from Tiftit, the land having recovered from last year's assault.

Spices, which have arrived a while ago, brought very good profits, and some praise from your noblemen!

1179 AD, Mid-Autumn

Your brother-in-law, Hein, has become a father once again! His wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whom she named 'Gaertrud'.

1179 AD, Winter

Silver, gold and gemstones arrive in the Treasury; glasswork is sent to Ysirene of course.

1179 AD, Midwinter

Tutors both scholarly and from military praise Deathan's skills; they hail your brother-in-law as a true genius, for he has near encyclopedic knowledge of astronomy and herbalism. This wisdom is matched by his martial skill in both combat and commandeering of troops. Few years ago, some people joked that he must've been born lucky, but now many consider that to be actually true.

Few days later, a messenger arrives from Cydwyl; Cyl's dynasty is having some party time for 150th anniversary of Cydwan I's ascension and independence from Dahnian tyrants. Your King and husband therefore asks whether you would like to visit him next Spring to join the celebrations.

A) Well duh! I will get a fancy dress just for the occassion!
B) Oh, no, sorry, I will have a headache next Spring, can't go.

You ask for a piece of jewelry that affects your charisma. She then conjures up a scroll into hands of your Treasurer, who shares it with the Advisor.

"With what we have in the Treasury right now, we can safely afford the Sorceress' services and still have enough to cover our yearly expenses if we assume even the lowest of profits for next half of the year." You nod at your courtiers - you will get the artifact done.

The Sorceress asks for one bar of silver, one piece of crystal rock, and one rod made of iron. A peculiar set of requests, but your servants quickly procure them from the treasury, royal storerooms and elsewhere within few hours.

The nude silvermen grab the rod and effortlessly bend it into a small circle, wide but thin, hammering onto it with their fists.

The centipede devours the crystal, munching on it, before spitting it out. It's rough shape has been replaced with a green stone of eighty eight sides, with shine and clarity unmatched by any other crystal you ever saw.

The goblins tear apart the silver bar into numerous pieces, either size of a nail or a knucklebone.

Yornantei then gathers all those 'pieces' into her left palm, and she asks for a hammer which she takes with her right hand. She swings it, looking at the pieces. She swings it three times, always slowing down and stopping before hitting her palm. People murmur as the swinging continues for a while.

Then you notice that the wind has picked up and a breeze, seemingly out of nowhere, begun to wash across the throne room with chill and even frost!

Suddenly, the Sorceress shouts something in unknown language and strikes her palm and the ingredients with the hammer. A sickeningly green light blinds you and causes your to scream. A blast of hurricane wind topples you and the throne as you hear your noblemen and servants tumble and trip over each other.

But then it is all over; the wind is gone, and so is the light. Guards help you up as you stare at Yornantei's hand; a dark bracelet is wobbling in the air above it, glowing with the green light from the gemstone adorning it, and you see the silver pieces, made into perfect squares and orbs, vibrate visibly.

Soon however even all this subsides, and the bracelet, still and calm, falls down onto Worldserpent's palm. Slowly, she makes her way to you and, with a smirk on her face, takes your hand - you can feel some unholy energy go up your skin, as if thousands needles were pricking you - and places the metal bracelet on your wrist. The bracelet feels both uncomfortably hot and very heavy.

But once the Sorceress lets go, you no longer feel any discomfort - instead, the bracelet feels as if tailor-made. It is resting on your wrist snugly and weighs very little.

"There you go, your trinket." You look up at the iron bracelet. It is of highest craftssorceressship. It is adorned with green beryl and decorated with silver.

"What's it name?" You inquire. Yornantei laughs.

"Bracelet of Charisma." She brushes her blue hair and looks at you condescendingly. "I expect to be paid for services rendered, oh Empress."

You decide to...

A) Ask the guards to get rid of the Sorceress.
B) Let the Sorceress take the money she requested.
C) Negotiate for a lower price.

It's more of regular politics question, but no, at time of Cyl's death most of Methiantese neighbours viewed Yoean dynasty as short-tempered, greedy and slightly bit paranoid, so they preferred to keep relations simple and don't mingle too much with the royals except to provide kids and maybe get a shot at inheriting the vast empire. ;v
