You let him in.

The diminutive man with unkept red hair on his freckled head is certain young; no more than twenty. He hands you a letter.

"Empress, this is from my master. I'm not supposed to return without a reply."

Intrigued, confused, and with two members of Shadowranks lurking outside the windows, you roll the scroll open and begin to read.

"To the most beautiful and serene lady in charge of certain southern neighbour.

The dissolution of the love between the two houses living near each other pains me, as my forefathers worked hard to maintain a positive relationship, fostering it carefully. Now however, a certain tree, that supports all of my northernly home, is rumored to suffer from incurable illness, and more and more power goes to this young blossom, who wants to see two houses bound together now and forever.

If a certain, still young and beautiful, doe of the south would take this northern-dwelling blossom to her home and accept its sweet silvery seed, the children of this natural union will surely inherit a forest that stands large and proud, casting shadows over all local saplings. Consider this, and reply before the frozen rivers thaw.

Pardon the terrible poetry of epithets and metaphors, my lady, but poetry is language of love, or so the bards say.

C of C."

You look at the young messenger, who is clearly nervous before your regal presence. You decide to...

A) Demand names, straight talk and explanations at once!
B) Accept the offer, and write so in a reply.
C) Decline the offer, and write so in a reply.

You reject her offer and tell her you will marry a man not a boy.

Few weeks later Alissa no longer knits with you, but with your royal matron.

1173 AD, Midwinter

While you tend to little Rinilda, one of the guard knocks on the door. You let him in.

"Your Majesty, there's a man claiming to be a messenger from Cydwyl, but he wishes to meet with you in private, and bears no signs of royal messenger of King Estjald."

A) "Does this assassin believe audacity will save him? Get rid of him!"
B) "He must explain himself otherwise, I will refuse him."
C) "Then he is not from King Estjald, but someone else. Let him in."

You mgiht be wanting to help your family, but your courtiers surely won't share the sentiment, so you decide not to get involved.

1173 AD, Winter

Silver, gold and gems arrive in your Treasury.

So do the great profits from selling of glasswork and words of praise from your nobles about the quality of Crown-made goblets and plates.

While having a cup of rootbrew and doing some knitwork with Lady Alissa, the topic moves to the children, then to the family, and then to the topic of husbands.

"Empress, I must notice that you're still young and your courtiers have not made efforts to find you another husband. I respect of course the soul of poor Bjern but it is unbecoming of a lady of your stature to go around unmarried."

Knit knit knit.

"So you see, I have been wondering whether I, a humble guest of your house but also a member of your family, should extend my helping hand."

Knit knit knit.

"After some consideration about what would be best for you and for Methiant, I have decided to offer my son Llewyn as your Emperor-Consort."

You stop the knitwork and look at Lady Alissa with dumbstruck expression.

"You can't be serious. I'm fifteen or twenty years older than him! I could be his mother!"

"Actually, I studied the genealogy of our noble families and you're older only by scant eleven years. You can still bear children, and he is a young, healthy and energetic man. If the worst happens, he can help you with daily administration or even rule in your stead." You continue to stare at Lady Alissa.

"Consider my offer, Empress! It's for good of Methiant."

A) "Still, I shall marry a man, not a boy."
B) "Alright, I will have him as my husband."

Just wondering, does dropped loot stay where it was dropped until someone picks it up?

I guess it stays?

They go down the stairs, following the bullet!

~~Room 0002~~

A pair of two startled bandits and their angry pet dire wolf are there!

Behind them, there's an old bag and a crate, with various bits of trash and some excavation tools strew about. Clearly, they're undercover adventure archeologists without license!

Further in northwest corner, a tunnel leads deeper into the dungeon.
