You decide to wait few months.

1172 AD, Mid-Autumn

The Army has withdrawn from Orcworld; for now, only the Fortress garrison, scouts and scholars remain there.

And in good moment, too! There are riots near the Evalian border; Pantheonist worshippers are being killed by those of other faiths, with majority of them being of Damedian kind.

The governor asks for help in this troubling situation.

A) Nah, I've got more important things to do.
B) Fine, I will send my glorious Army to do the job.
C) A letter calling for reason will surely work.

You decide that this book will let you make Methiant again! But when would be the best time to use it?

Something in your head tells you that this is too important to keep for later. Yes, the thought, the voice, is absolutely right.

A) I will summon the Prince of Glory as soon as possible.
B) In few months' time, I will summon the Prince of Glory.

By the way, I managed to break my laptop screen a few days ago. I've been using my TV as a monitor for now, but it makes drawing digitally a gigantic pain.

I know the pain. Running expansive forum games on TV screen isn't fun either ;v

Could the Prince of Glory give us magic of some kind or at least affect the whole weakening magic situation in some way? I mean sure that is probably a long shot but eh don't know if ya don't ask right?

Ask him v;

You decide to delve into the book once more.

You crack the code, or so you believe. Many vague things become clear, and the purpose of ritual is a simple one:

It is a deal with Prince of Glory, an otherworldly demon. He grants wishes upon summoning to the one who sacrifices 'their own blood', or as the book puts it, 'most precious one', usually a wife, a child, or someone such. The summoning must take place during moonless night, starting before midnight and ending before first greyness occurs. There's lots of chanting involved, in pentatic and symballic meter; melodical poetry that hasn't been in use for centuries (mostly because it sounds rather bad).

The Prince of Glory's power is not without limits, as even a demon as strong as him cannot affect whole world, but nothing wrong with cursing a nation or such. Prince of Glory is able to bestow numerous boons, and is skilled in granting personal strengths rather than curses and hexes.

The book also vividly explains what happens if one botches the summoning ritual, accidentally disturbs the blood signs or hestitates in uttering their wish. It also explains that Prince of Glory is sated most easily with wealth, and is willing to come generations or even centuries into future to collect his debt, either from the summoner's progeny or those who happen to live in their estates.

A) A demon-summoning book!? Burn it at once!
B) If I won't get a mountain of money for this book, the world's crazy!
C) This - this I can trust. I will make Methiant great again!

You delve deeper into the book, reading it more thoroughly and conjuring up conclusions and assumptions, and checking them against what you learn.

You fail to learn anything. The ciphers are either jumbled, or you're doing this wrong.

A) Or maybe some lunatic wrote this. Let's toss it into the fireplace, the only place this book belongs to.
B) No no, clearly, I must try again. There's knowledge in here, and I shall find it!
C) Ancient, mystical book full of ciphers and riddles? Maybe I can get a coin or two out of it?

You find a nice place to read and begin your conquest of the manuscript.

After an hour of deciphering the old script, you finally understand what this is. A book for summoning someone! The schematics and proceedings are craftily obscured to appear as a simple worship book for some crazy lunatics.

The ritual is very intricate, for it calls for a moon-less night, and sacrifice of 'most precious of bloods', and after the sacrifice, there is an hour long chant as one draws a circle, a triangle and four arrows with the blood, which must not be spilled nor mixed with another. The ritual thus calls for precision and skill, but you still do not know the meaning behind the initials, nor who the Prince of Glory is supposed to be. Pantheonist god? Ancient undead royal? Monstrous abomination?

A) Eurgh, blood sacrifices and such? I must get rid of this vile book!
B) Not only an ancient manuscript, but ancient book of mystical stuff? Ka-ching!
C) I must study this more. There's so much to discover here!

You decide to keep with the deal signed by your grandfather, and have Hein marry Irvalina next Spring.

Speaking of Hein, news come from your tutors, who, despite several years more of tutoring, can't find anything in him. He is unremarkable like every peasant around the capital

Springwine brought profits to the Treasury.

Army is returning to Methiant through the portal. Most of it is still camping at Orcworld Fortress, but within a month all soldiers, wounded, animals, supplies and weapons should be transferred over.

During a very boring night, you rummage through some less visited parts of royal library. One old book, titled 'The Glory of Prince' in old Luathbasian script, catches your eye. This manuscript must be ancient; written in cursive Old Luathbasian, the preamble mentions it is written by those whom Prince of Glory, whose name must not be spoken, and his 'most sacred initials' are D, X and C.

You don't remember this guy from any codex or religion, to be honest. Still, such an old, mystical and thick manuscript, surely only copy in existence, could be worth its weight...?

A) What is this mystical fiction doing in my renowned library? To the waste dump with it!
B) Hmmm, finally some interesting lecture.
C) Plenty of Methiantese merchants deal in manuscripts. Let's find a buyer.
