You decide to read the report first.

The four armies have been scouring the badlands and desert of orcish scum, killing at least two more thousands of them since previous report, but nowadays they're stumbling mostly upon remains of already destroyed encampments and mass graves filled with rotten orcish corpses and skeletons.

The second army ventured quite far westwards, and reported encountering grasslands and glades of blue trees and thick mists. The third army ventured quite far southwards, and found some interesting, ancient ruins of stone structures, different from orcish architecture.

The commanders of the armies heard of disturbances in Methiant and are ready to conclude their crusade sooner to come help against riots that are popping up.

A) The cleansing is not done yet.
B) Sure, let's call the crusade finished.

You sign the papers.

1172 AD, Summer

You are Bjern, son of Yoe III!

You are very wise, just like your father. Your ascension was marked with chaos and bloodshed, but all is for naught. The victory of Pantheon and downfall of 'immoral tyrant' in the eyes of Pantheonist worshippers lifted their moods considerably; indeed, there's a large crowd outside the palace cheering your ascension.

You consider your regnal name.

You decide that naming pool in your dynasty is awfully small, and expanding it will do good for your successors!

All hail Emperor Bjern I of Methiant!

The Advisor comes with Scrolls of Kingdom Status in his hands.

Happiness: 4
Population: 5
Economy: 8
Army: 7
Imp.Authority: -2

You guess these are decent numbers, except that last one.

Goldwork failed to bring profits, which were low without part of the precious items stolen from merchants during the period of religious riots.

Just as a report arrives from Orcworld, the guards say there's a messenger from Eldrican, about some marriage agreement being long overdue.

A) Gotta read the report first.
B) Gotta do the diplomacy first.

You draw your sword out and fight!

Quote

Unfortunately, you tire easily, and after your guards are screwed from numerical disadvantage, you soon fall victim to vicious stabbings of 54 times.

1172 AD, Few days later

You are Bjern, son of Yoe III!

In the chaos that ensued after your father's assasination, the Pantheonists quickly took control of the capital. The Shadowranks have been pulverized except few turncoats. Delegation of Pantheonist clerics have just arrived in the palace. Riots however continue elsewhere, smoldering away the glory that was Methiant.

They, and large percentage of the court, is here to oversee your ascension to the throne of Methiant. Your family is in their chambers and loyalist nobles are under guard. Moderates and religious zealots together make for the court present at audience room.

They're also here to have you sign the documents if you wish to rule. You have to Revoke Religion Tax, and Revoke Religious Tolerance Edict. Because of differences between nobility and priests, reason and zealotry (and usual pettiness of men), no one is pushing you to establish Pantheonism as state religion, nor to pay any amenities or donate to altars.

They're sure that, once your family sees the errors of heathen faiths, you will naturally proclaim Pantheon as the true and only religion of Methiant, and will happily donate to the altars of your newest friends and allies - the Pantheonists.

A) Sign the papers.
B) Flip them the bird.*

You send your trusted Shadowranks to help the city guard to deal with the rioters, while you proclaim to your courtiers that you will never, NEVER give in to the demands of the rioting scum!

Less than hour later, some courtiers wish to meet with you to discuss something important in one of smaller chambers.

When you arrive there with two of your Shadowranks' guards, the eight noblemen draw their swords at you!

"You will bring our nation to ruin! Die, foul Emperor!" They charge you and your guards, the latter drawing their swords to protect you!

It seems you've gotta...

A) Run!
B) Fight!

You decide to quell riots first.

1172 AD, Late Spring

Quote

In two weeks' time, the riots in cities west and south and north of Methe are crushed quite nicely.

However, the Pantheonist high clergy, having relocated to Felonsein, bastion of Pantheonism, continues to uphold your excommunication and denounce your authority, which absolutely takes a dip.

Quote
1

Unfortunately, the capital city itself is touched by the vile hand of rioting!

As your courtiers gather for a council, one of the late ones hastily arrives, informing the court that Pantheonists in Methe have took to the streets, and began attacking your officials and soldiers on patrol.

There has been already few dozen casaulties according to guards who managed to report this to their superiors. The Pantheonists are demanding your removal, 'Methiant for Pantheon', revocation of religion tax, revocation of religious tolerance, expelling of heathens, and some other things that didnt' get through to your loyal men ears. The city guard is woefully unprepared to deal with furious masses on the streets, which outnumbers them, according to some indecently inaccurate approximations, twenty to one.

Some of your more moderate courtiers however quietly murmur that, mayhaps, the Emperor should listen to the crowds and give in to some of their demands, to help stabilize the country.

As for riots in the capital city of Methe...

A) Send the Shadowranks to dispense justice in name of the Emperor!
B) Send for the Army to leave the barracks and do the magic.
C) Let's meet with the rioting peoples to directly adress them.*
D) Do nothing.

As for potential giving in to protestors' demands...

A) I think Religious Tolerance needs to go.
B) I think Religion Tax should be done with.
C) I should abdicate.
D) All three of the above.
E) NEVERRR!!
F) Both Edicts need to be revoked.

7046
Oh, and while Methiant is in fun times, I decided to make new coats of arms!

And finally, after much debating internally, I have settled on coat of arms of Luathbas! The green color and a goat just had to be there, but I was tinkering with details for last week. But, here it is!

Spoiler: Kingdom of Luathbas (click to show/hide)

You send the Army to quell the riots in northwest, as well as write a threatening letter to the Pantheonist high clerics, demanding they help bring peace.

Quote

Three days later, a terrified courtier arrives with the response.

You have been excommunicated by Archpriest of Pantheon! Apparently, the high clergy decided that your policy of tolerance has failed, your moral and spiritual (and doctrinal) authority is a joke, and that it is about time the region of Luathbas reverts to the old faith of Pantheon, and deals with the heretic clot that was affecting the spiritual life flow of the peoples for decades. Something like that.

True to their words, your Spymaster quickly procures a copy of Proclamation of Pantheon, in which Archpriest advises all faithful to help restore the Pantheonist peace and unity thorough the Empire, because the Emperors of Yoean Dynasty are not willing to do it themselves.

As your Army is working their asses to quell the riots in northwest, there are new cities in central Methiant where Pantheonists are fighting with your officials, city guards and those not of Pantheon faith.

It is obvious at the court that you have no control over the situation. Nobles grumble and whisper behind your back, clearly being fed up with everything that has occured so far in Methiant about all this religious thing going.

Still, you must at least showcase your power. Where do you send the Army next?

A) To quell the riots in central Methiant.
B) To reduce numbers of Pantheon high clergy.
C) Both of the above.
D) Neither, the Gods will judge us!

You send the Army to quell the riots in Daan, and wisely (or not) do not try to toss blame in any direction.

Quote
1

Two weeks later, you receive report from the Army; the riots were quite widespread and soldiers had to bring order and peace to some outlying settlements and villages too. Some fifty buildings in Daan were burned down, covering bodies, and because there were casualties amongst officials and soldiers too, it was difficult to put down any real numbers. Anywhere between 1500 to 2000 people have perished in Daan riots, plus at least another 100 or so around the city.

1172 AD, Mid-Spring

There's rioting in the western and northern cities!

Religious fanatics of Pantheonism are assaulting Principalists, Principalists are 'purging' their fellows out of less loyal numbers. Even Singularists are getting their asses handed to them by some other-faith zealots. Apparently, the Pantheonist masses are led by Alan, Priest of the God of Oaths.

The chaos is exacerbated because even some city governors and garrison commanders, apparently not so keen on your family's tolerant policies, are taking sides, with Methiantese soldiers and city guards themselves adding blood and corpses to the mess.

As for the riots...

A) Appeal to reason and send some letters there.
B) Let them fight, we will judge the leftovers.
C) Another training practice for the Army, then.

As for the Pantheonist revolt...

A) Have Alan executed along with his trusted followers.
B) Threaten Pantheonist high clergy with action if they don't reign their faithful in.
C) Do nothing for now.
